I just realized that SilRid is so ironic. Like, the guy who is based on the Sleeping Beauty dating the guy who lives surrounded by a rose maze and has the literal same flower in his last name. How did I not notice before?

So ironic, so much fic potential. It also has angst potential but personally I prefer fluff/humor and hurt/comfort for this ship, so I'm gonna ignore that.

Just, imagine Riddle inviting him for tea or whatever and ADeuce just happens to accidentally push him against the bushes. And Silver falls asleep, as he tends to do, but hours later he still doesn't wake up. Lilia comes to retrieve him, he's still asleep. Days pass, he hasn't come to class. Riddle is so worried. Whatever that happened to practically fall into a coma, it happened at his dorm, at his garden. And that's Silver. They had been in the same club since first year and although he's always had the... habit... of falling asleep, he never slept for so long. Samson obviously missed him (yeah, sure, Samson).

Everytime he crosses Lilia-senpai or any of the Diasomnia students he's acquainted to, he looks at them, hoping to see relief, happiness— anything that tells him that Silver is waking up. Or, at least, that there's any improvement at all.

He spends hours in the library, trying to find an explanation, a solution. Just something that brings Silver back. At some point, a different Diasomnia student ends up sitting with him, searching for a hint themselves. At first it was Sebek, retrieving books for Lilia so he wouldn't have to leave Silver's side. Then it was Malleus, needing to do something beyond waiting. The third time it was Lilia himself, looking completely exhausted but unable to rest, even if that's what the others had insisted.

They finish going over all the books in the library and still find nothing.

At the end, the solution comes from a children's storybook sitting on Sam's counter one day. Apparently, the book had been specially requested by some student— something about the students' younger siblings or whatsover. Riddle had only come to the shop hoping to inquire Sam about anything he could have related to the topic, be it contacting some obscure bookstore for an unusual book the school does not have or any anti-sleep product. However, the old book ended up catching his sight before he could finish his request.

He couldn't help it— the girl in the cover, lying fast asleep and surrounded by vines, reminded him so strongly of Silver he couldn't help but stare.

Sam can't lend the book (given that is a client's belonging, even if yet to be retrieved), but he can lend him his own copy.

No one has never seen housewarden Riddle run so fast— in heels, at that. Not even when angered.

Then Lilia gives him a forehead kiss and Silver wakes up. The proceeds to be hugged like a ragdoll.

There's also the fun thought that in a hanahaki AU, Silver coughing up Roses = him falling asleep.

Or in an AU where they haven't yet met irl and Silver ends up visiting Riddle's dreams. Only to start falling asleep more often because unconsciously he wants to see him.

Lilia and everyone else thinks his condition is getting worse. In reality, he's just in love.

Or a fic where they're already together/in a situationship and he goes to get roses for Riddle but ends up prickling his finger before even reaching his destination place. Riddle finds him asleep and, after moving him in a better position, kisses his head exhasperated. Silver wakes up shortly after, none of them knowing that his sleeping problem just got cured.

Or a fic where they're in love but none of them know yet, and find out that, for some reason, Riddle's kisses leave Silver completely awake. It does not cure completely yet, but it wakes him up long enough to go through a day, give or take, without faceplanting the floor.

The first time is the result of Jade and Floyd messing with Riddle in a joint class, which somehow made him loss his balance. He almost falls on top of the sleeping Silver in a desk nearby, but manages to catch himself at last moment— until Kalim accidentally pushes Silver from the other side, sending both Riddle and Silver to the floor.

With Riddle being so short and smaller than Silver, the rest of the class can't see exactly much beyond Silver's back and Riddle's arms trying to do... something from below him. Probably moving Silver so he can get up. Then seemingly giving up and proceeding to express his anger through comically expressive, yet threatening gestures that impressively did not include flipping it off. He didn't need to, anyways. Everyone got the memo. Once he got out of there, the Leech twins have something coming.

Then an innocent bird, probably having come through the window, decided to rest on top of Silver's back head. The small little body was enough weight to tilt Silver's head slightly, pressing it against Riddle's own, who just had tried to look for a way to get up.

Luckily, no one realized when Silver started to wake up. Nor when both of them went completely stiff. They only know that, not long after That Fall™ (recorded, screenshoted and shared in the NRC forum just seconda after the fact), the two of them were up and back into their seats.

Kalim wondered if Silver, suddenly and miraculously awake for the rest of the class, had fallen ill. Jamil, who overheard him, shook his head and thought he was being stupid, worrying for Silver finally not sleeping. If he, like Ruggie, had asked Kalim what he was talking about, would have know he was referring to how his cheeks, ears and neck seemed a little pink. He did not hear them and, therefore, did not find out about the possible oncoming couple until later on. Azul did. He's very invested. He already planned ten ways he can use that to his favour, including promoting his strawberry flavored products near Silver's sight and organizing bets.

Silver spends the rest of the day both too happy and too shaken as to pounder too much on how he managed to not fall asleep again.

The next time is a thank you kiss on the cheek, just when Silver was beginning to feel drowsy. The way his eyes snap open catches even himself off guard. Riddle would have questioned if he overstepped his boundaries had Silver's eyes not shone as Riddle's own when offered a tart.

This time, Silver is not as distracted as the first time. He realizes minutes later that he doesn't feel sleepy anymore.

After some instances more, he ends up telling Riddle on an occasion that, so far, the only thing that has managed to keep him awake is Riddle's own kisses.

So, when they happen to have an equestrian competition oncoming, Riddle yankes him from his jacket to kiss him— on the cheek, as a preventive meassure.

And Silver kisses him properly when they win. No excuses given, he just wanted to.

Sebek looks both interactions with the same shock and expressions of one Candace Flynn upon getting an unbelievable reason to bust her brothers. Which is also what he did. He immediately proceeded to call Lilia and, very loudly, inform him that Silver has entered courting without the proper procedures. Lilia can't stop laughing because Sebek still believes that.

Everyone knows that Silver and Riddle are a thing the very same hour they become a thing.
