Writing the "Dean remembers the Hell rescue and is traumatized by it" OS that no one had asked for (and that no one wants XD)
been thinking about the first time silver goes to homeworld properly. it's a big part of her arc, to get the clearance to go out into space and help the crystal gem mission, and she spends SO much time fighting for it. and the idea of her going with jasper. like.
they both show up at the galaxy warp first, from little homeworld. and silver is just STARSTRUCK at this platform of marble reflecting the dark blue depths around her. but when she sees jasper stepping up onto the homeworld warp she.. hesitates a bit.
jasper looks behind. "what are you waiting for?" she asks, raising an eyebrow. with a quick dip of her head as she looks over silver, she adds. "this isn't a good look on you."
and she has a point. silver isn't necessarily the type to get nervous and tied up into herself - if anything she's normally the one to burst into situations without thinking. but as she twirls a strand of hair around a finger, she looks to the side and explains.
"well, this..." she hesitates. "this is your home. y'know? I have... no idea what to expect, but I know you've spent a lot of time here." she looks up to the Quartz. "and it's important to you. I want to do this right."
jasper looks down at her for a moment, before snorting once. "you're thinking too hard." she turns around, continues to head to the warp. "homeworld isn't my home."
"w-well--" silver stumbles a bit as she follows. she's been to the beta kindergarten with her before, she knows she's technically from earth, but... "homeworld is--was--the object of your loyalty for so long, and I just want to respect that."
they're both on the foot of the homeworld warp, and jasper turns around again, looking down at the human for a long moment. silver laughs nervously in the silence, not quite used to her own vulnerability.
eventually jasper places a palm on silver's head, ruffling her hair hard. silver squeaks--then laughs into it, pulling her palm off and interlacing her fingers.
"you are." jasper says. she flushes a bit, looks to the side, but doesn't break her fingers away. "...the object of my loyalty." she laughs as she says it, the phrasing clumsy and awkward. her yellow eyes lower, almost taking a bit of the sparkle from the space around them. "...home."
silver flushes a bit herself, blinking up to jasper with wide, surprised eyes.
"now c'mon," jasper says quickly, breaking the moment and tugging along silver via their entwined fingers, and in a flash (and a quick, surprised laugh from silver), they're gone
The Captain: I leave you guys alone for one second...
*Celci, Gunther and Burt, pointing at Engineer Mark*
Celci, Gunther and Burt: He started it!
Engineer Mark: Yeah right! As if I'm the one wielding a bloody flamethrower! Captain, a little help please!
The Captain: *facepalms and sighs in exasperation*
The Captain: I'm surrounded by idiots.

Summary: Centuries after the events of The Hero and the Crown, when much of Aerin's tale has fallen to legend and myth and little is remembered of her true life, Teka's journals are discovered in a long hidden room of the castle. From the journals is published a biography of Aerin's life, leading to a revival of the still present legend. From this comes a musical titled Aerin Fire-hair, as yet another retelling of the tale.
Well, thinks Aerin, it could be interesting to see. And I haven't been keeping track of the legends; it will be good to know what comes of this.
