silverhearth yippee yay yippee
i imagine this to just be an au where owen got turned later than in canon, so the townsfold didn't have the opportunity to attack louis cause owen was there in time!!
“Hi, Abby.” Louis smiled at it warmly, ruffling its hair. “I was surprised to hear you were coming to Oakhurst, it's been so long!”
“Hi, Louis.” Abolish blushed. “Just checking in for Morcant, you know how it is.”
“Ah, of course. How's the old man doing, anyways?” He asked.
“He's good.” It answered. “Busy as always, of course.” It sighed, adjusting its gloves.
Louis clicked his tongue. “He really doesn't know how to take a break, huh. Not that you're much better, darling, you need to come visit more often!”
Abolish flushed, rubbing the back of its neck as it looked away. “I'm sorry… I've just been so busy with my missions, I never have time to say hi.”
“Well, you have time now, hm, Abby? Come inside, have a glass of tea.” Louis suggested, leading Abolish into his home. “I'll put the kettle on, darling, what kind of tea would you like?”
“Do you have chamomile?” It asked. “With-”
“A spoon of honey, I remember, darling.” Louis smiled over his shoulder as he got the tea kettle and ingredients out from the cupboards. “Come sit, don't just stand there in the doorway, silly.” Louis laughed lightly, putting the kettle on before sitting down on the couch, patting the spot next to him invitingly.
Abolish sat down next to him stiffly, causing Louis to laugh.
“Don't be so stiff, Abby, we've known each other for decades now.” He said teasingly, intertwining their fingers.
“Sorry.” It sighed. “I just get so used to the rigidness of the organization, I forget…”
“How it is to be feeling?” Louis filled in. “It's understandable, though… I worry for you, darling. You used to be so… excited about the world.” He said sadly, rubbing his thumb on Abolish's wrist.
“I know, but… Morcant's helped me so much. I need to repay him somehow.” It shrugged. “I mean- He raised me, after my parents-” It cut off abruptly.
“Oh, darling.” Louis said sadly, resting his hand on Abolish's shoulder. “Will you look at me, please?” He asked, waiting for Abolish to face him before continuing. “There you are.” He smiled. “Your eyes are so pretty, darling, I wish you wouldn't hide them from me so much.”
Abolish blushed. “Louis…” It whined.
“Now, listen to me, alright Abby? You don't owe anyone anything, okay? Not me, not Morcant, no one. Morcant did what any decent man would, taking you in. You know I would have, if I heard about Reiah and Alaric sooner. We both know Morcant wouldn't want you overworking yourself either, hm darling? Talk to him about all this when you get back, you know he wouldn't make you take on assignments you can't handle. But he doesn't know what you don't tell him, Abby. Alright?” He asked, rubbing Abolish's shoulder with his thumb.
Abolish nodded after a moment. “Thanks, Louis.” It mumbled, just as the kettle started to whistle.
“Ah, there's your tea. Let me get that for you, it'll just be one moment, love.” Louis smiled, walking to the kitchen to prepare Abolish's tea. “There you are, darling. Careful, it'll be quite hot still.” He warned it.
Abolish took the mug of tea, warming its hands by wrapping them around the mug. It took a sip after a moment, trying to not burn its tongue. “Thanks, Louis, it's really good.” It smiled up at him.
“Of course, love, I'm glad you like it.” Louis smiled back at it warmly. “Is there anything else you need, Abby, are you hungry?” He asked. “I have some steak, I can cook it up for you if you like.” He offered.
Abilish paused, realizing how hungry it actually was. “That… would be great actually, I forgot how long I've been travelling.” It admitted.
Louis sighed. “You need to eat more, darling, you're getting too pale.” He chided it. “I'll get that started for you.”
Abolish followed him into the kitchen, sitting down at the counter. Louis lit the fire, getting out some of his raw steak and butter for Abolish. He melted the butter in the pan, dropping the steak in after a moment. “How well done would you like it, Abby?” He asked over his shoulder.
“Ah… Medium rare?” It said.
“That a question or a statement, darling?” Louis teased, smiling at it over his shoulder.
Abolish rolled its eyes. “You're very funny, Louis.” It said flatly.
“I'm hilarious.” He laughed. He put the steak on a plate for Abolish once it was done, passing it to it with (non-silver) cutlery.
“Thanks, Louis.” Abolish smiled at him tiredly.
“Of course, darling.” He smiled back at it affectionately.
He let Abolish finish its steak and its tea, before leading it back to the couch. “Are you tired, Abby? You've probably been traveling quite a while, do you have somewhere to stay yet?” He asked, putting a hand on Abolish's knee.
Abolish winced, looking embarrassed. “I… might have forgotten to account for that part “ It admitted, blushing.
Louis looked slightly amused. “Abolish… darling. Did you forget you can't make the journey to Oakhurst and back all in one day?”
“I- Okay look-” It huffed.
Louis laughed quietly. “Don't worry about it, darling, you can stay at my house.”
“You don't- Have a guest room?” Abolish pointed out, blushing.
Louis tilted his head in acknowledgement. “I certainly don't mind sharing, as long as you're alright with it, love.”
Abolish's cheeks bloomed bright red. “I- I don't mind.” It stammered out, looking down at its lap.
Louis smiled. “Aw, you're so sweet, Abby.” He cooed. “Come on, darling, I'm sure you need sleep. It's been a long day of traveling for you, hasn't it?” He said, offering a hand out to Abolish as he stood up to lead it to the bedroom.
Abolish took it shyly, blushing as the mayor led it towards his room.
“Did you pack any nightclothes, darling? I can lend you something if not.” Louis offered.
“... I forgot…” It admitted.
“Here you are, darling. I'll turn around.” He smiled, handing Abolish, a pair of nightclothes.
Abolish changed quickly, tapping Louis on the shoulder when it was done.
“There you are, love. Ready for bed?” He asked, smiling.
Abolish nodded, letting out a yelp when Louis pulled him onto the bed. “Louis!”
Louis giggled, pulling the blankets over the both of them.
“... Goodnight, Louis.” Abolish mumbled, tucking itself into his arms.
