Silverland feat. Daisy Dance - Ain't No Turning Back
Due to my show, I’ve been on a hardcore Princess Knight kick. Can’t say it’s the greatest show, but it is at least mildly entertaining.

Short Synopsis:
The year is 2011. The Olympic Games are coming to a `regenerated` London. The Kyoto Protocol is about to expire. The Mayans think the end is nigh. As resources run dangerously low, a volatile and exaggerated climate teeters on the brink of chaos… Five stories unfold over five seasons. Two relationships on the brink of ruin. A man who knows too much. A woman who needs to know for certain. And two ravers who don't know where or when they are. What will happen when New Year comes and the world changes beyond recognition?
Reviews:
NEW YORK TIMES:
Benjamin Davis’s debut, “Silverland” — an environmentally, if not dramatically, aware, play in the Brits Off Broadway festival — is one of the first dramas I’ve seen that could be called green theater.
VARIETY:
A thesp with a well-trained voice and an intense style, Hunter plays Ellen with the grave intelligence that such a Cassandra deserves. This artist-seer has music in her lines, and Hunter puts a quiver into her visions of a great city poised to fall off the perch of civilization.
SPEAK THE SPEECH:
The artist, Ellie (Sophie Hunter) is both prophet and the soul of social conscious. Her recurring dreams of drowning and her fascination with the melting glaciers and storm surges propel us towards the inevitable. Sophie Hunter repeats a haunting mantra which is reprinted in the show's program:
"You know, we sit here on the edge of it, on the precipice, just waiting to fall.
And when we do it will be a plunge into the deep dark,
and our green island will be engulfed by the silver sea."
Each time she repeats this I thought well, it's just going to be the same - but it was not. As the play moves forward her retelling of this mantra becomes more and more emotional, more urgent and kudos to Ms Hunter for giving me goosebumps with these lines.
TIME OUT:
Billed as an “ecofantasia,” Benjamin Davis’s Silverland plays like a rising sea of turbulent gobbledygook
