Exploring the unknown by PeterThoeny I am currently preparing for an art show in San Jose, California, called Travel Perspectives: Explore | Experience | Connect. We are three San Francisco Bay Area photographers who share our perspectives and styles in an exhibition celebrating the intentional and opportunistic traveler. If you are nearby please join our opening reception at the Art Ark Gallery on September 2nd. See details at www.artarkgallery.com/travel-perspectives.html I'll exhibit this photo at the gallery. In 2015 we spent a few days in Colorado. Silver Plume is a former silver mining camp west of Denver. We went to an abandoned silver mine just above the town. The mine entrance was easy to recognize, just follow the rusty rails. I could crawl into the mine a few meters until it was blocked with a metal gate. I took a few long exposure shots into the darkness through the gate. Only after downloading to the computer did I realize the beauty with earthy colors, reflections, patterns, and disruption in patterns. I processed a balanced HDR photo from a RAW exposure, and carefully adjusted the color balance and curves. I had difficulty to focus in the darkness, so I set the aperture to f/8 and shot in manual mode with a time delay to increase the odds of a sharp photo. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments. Thank you for visiting - ♡ with gratitude! "Spooky Schoolhouse" Smartphone photo of the George Rowe Museum, Silver Plume, Colorado, October 5, 2018. If there was ever a place that looks haunted, it's this former school, now a museum exhibiting artifacts of Silver Plume's history and mining past. The building would make a great filming location, as would much of the town. I only drove past when I took this shot. But I think I'm going to need to return and go inside. #SmartphonePhotography #SmartphonePhoto #SilverPlume #Colorado #GeorgeRoweMuseum #OldBuilding #BrickBuilding #SilverPlumeSchool #Schoolhouse #Museum #LivingGhosttown #Architecture #DenverArchitect #WilliamQuayle #GeorgeRowe #HistoricalLandmark #MainStreet #MiningTown #ColoradoHistory #SilverMine #Victorian #Antique #HauntedMansion #Ghosts #RockyMountains #GeorgeTown #October #Halloween #GalaxyPhoto #SamsungGalaxyS5 (at George Rowe Museum) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bor6-1JnIHQ/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1mxmjqbkbac7j
