𝐋aurie instantly could feel her heart drop, cold fingers of guilt creeping up from the inky depths of her chest. She couldn’t bring herself to look up, let alone make eye contact with Ace. This man is practically her guide, her father, she told him everything, & vice versa, so the woman never expected to keep even the most personal of secrets from him, but this, this was much more than a secret, it was her life now, & she couldn’t keep that hidden.

 But that didn’t make this talk any less hard, how could she even begin explain it? Oh, I didn’t want to tell you that I’ve found my other half over the little fact that he’s a serial killer who happens to have slaughtered our friends before! Yeah, no. She never liked to be dishonest, but she knew that Ace would be quick to nip issues at the bud, & if he found out specifically who was Laurie’s lover, he would be more than damned to hunt him down like a bloodhound.

                 “ I-I’m sorry...”

 She started, her words were breathy & soft, like a whisper, but chopped, almost as if she were to cry.

 “Please, please, don’t be mad, 

he’s a genuinely wonderful person & I know you probably won’t believe me but, please Ace, he makes me so, so happy...

                                I’m so sorry I didn’t tell you before...”

Her gaze was locked in a blurred stare at the flickering flames, orange, dancing embers dusting the burnt ground like stars. She could feel the emotions in the air, the disbelief, the shock, the betrayl, it was suffocating her like a warm, damp rag.

Tears kissed the corners of her eyes as she waited in stagnant silence, hoping for the best, for Ace to believe her words without doubt, but Laurie always was realistic, painfully realistic. She knew she would most likely be nothing short of a lecture, or possibly worse, the silence would continue to grow between them & capitulate the bond she worked so hard for between her & Ace.

 & as her breathing filled her ears, she didn’t know if she could live with herself if the silence stayed between them.

A cold Saturday night in the pub, where so many citizens of the city come to get drunk off their asses and have a good time.

David King was one of them.

A British man, his head shaved with a tuft of light brown hair at the top.

His face having noticeable scars, a light stroke on his right eyebrow, the other, a deep cut in his broken nose. The bottom of his lip was bruised due to the constant fists to his face, with purple knuckles in addition. The Harrington jacket he wore and simple jeans, with sneakers completed his intimating physique. Now, here he was, having a seat in the corner of a table, having a glass of alcohol gripped on his hand.

He'd just handled a violent brawl earlier, leaving him dry blood lazily wiped from his mouth.

He decided it was time to take a small break, it can get tiring at times.

▸ he tries to keep things light; even philip has to stifle a silent laugh when ace spots him moments from uncloaking and shoots him some anxious finger-guns before running. any sort of humour is hard to come by in the entity’s realm, and he’s glad to see that this one has yet to lose hope.

▸ he likes his glasses. the wraith doesn’t have any glasses.

▸ he cares for the other survivors; he’s older than the majority of them, and philip supposes it’s easy to feel obligated to care about people when you’re older than them, but sometimes, if only for the briefest smattering of seconds, he will wait before ringing the wailing bell to observe his interactions with them.

𝐓he girl laughed lightly, teeth flashed into a delighted laugh. her hands fished quickly through the small worn bag she brought with her when she was taken in by the Entity’s ruthless hands. She couldn’t help but giggle under her breath as she withdrew her childhood-famous sunglasses, pink aviators with a mirror-esque reflectors on the lens, causing a shimmer of warm pinks & blues to glow off campfire light. She stood up joyfully from her place on the log, glasses thrown haphazardly on her face, fingers struck in Ace’s infamous fingerguns.

“Hey, Lady Luck is on my side but I can’t seem to go even 2 minutes without getting hit in some way because I really just want to fight people! Also check out my assortment of endless dad-hats that I apparently pull outta my ass because if I die, hey, at least I look damned good!”

𝐋aurie cocked a playful eyebrow, her eyes narrowing in a playing judgeful manner. Her fingers toyed in a nearby socket of the most recent abandoned housing they found. She gestured for the other to come closer, her other hand de-fastening the necklace she wore practically 24/7 on her neck.

“Yo, if we ever need it, I can think of 26 different ways I can kill a killer using the current from this electrical socket & necklace because I am too anxious to talk to people, & my drones are cuter than half the people I’ve ever met in my life.”
