I have such a big soft spot for Pekingeses! My babysitter had one growing up and I loved him. As soon as I saw the title…I was like, this is a perfect breed for Peggy. Everything about it is how you fall in love with a Peke lol.

I love it! I went around and around about what kind of dog to give them before I ended up looking at listings of popular breeds of the time and was surprised that they were on there. Plus I wanted something that would kind of grow on you slowly, so I watched a bunch of videos online and ended up being like, “these puppies have been unjustly maligned!” which I thought was perfect energy for this one. 😁

(Also, if you want sort of a podcast companion to this fic, I kept thinking of the Criminal episode Masterpiece while writing.)
