The eternal struggle between "I wanna post more story posts" and "I wanna do more makeovers". 😭

I finally have the weekend off and I am going to do...something.

Honestly I am procrastinating on Rogue Town because I just made an unfortunate discovery that throws a monkey wrench (a spanner for my British bbys out there) into some of my plans. I can't think of a way to work around it and everything I have tried so far hasn't looked right...

I'm going to post about that later, I think. I almost never make serious requests of CC creators because I know how much work goes into it, but I am debating commissioning someone to help me with this since it's becoming such an annoying big deal.

Actually yeah, screw the post later, I'm gonna complain about this now.

So you know the skin I use for Roman and Rio?

This one. The dragonscale skin by Taty (at least I think, I'm not near my computer at the moment)

It's beautiful, right? Super detailed. Really adds a lot of character to the Gallan siblings. It accentuates their alien nature as Ichtyans. Small problem I just discovered though...it's only for teens and up. This is a problem because I had intended to do some flashbacks to their childhood. Well, Rio's childhood and Roman's teenhood. But since the skin doesn't work for children, I don't know what to do. I can try creative camera work, trying to obscure the fact that Rio just looks like a normal human as a child, but for what I have planned, that's just not going to be logistically feasible for all of it.

If anyone out there can help me, please please please let me know. I don't want to scrap all of my plans but I'll have to if I can't find a way to have this skin converted for children. It's a good 30% of the story though so I'll have to scrap a lot. I don't even know if what I'm asking is possible or how hard it would be because I don't know how to make skins in the first place. For all I know, this is a wildly unreasonable ask. 😮‍💨 If anyone out there in the Simblrverse can help me in any way -- even if it's just converting the face part to makeup I can put on a child (again is that even possible?!) -- please get in touch with me.

Today’s adventures in Simblr...

So in catching up, there’s been a lot of downloading, and my cc finds blog now has a queue of nearly 90 posts... split between saying, ‘oh this creator has been active!’ and stalking their blog, and going through the drafts that I already had on my cc finds blog and whittling that down as well. You may see one of those pop up now and then here on the main blog when I forget to switch it to the cc finds blog. Aheh-heh-heh. *ahem*

We just got the official word today... that I’ll continue to be home for at least the next month. So, I heartily apologize to those waiting on me to actually DO things... I will get to them, promise. I’m just super slow. It’s hard to post on Simblr when I’m so far behind and I keep seeing things that I know are in the history of my dash somewhere.

On my to-do list, in order of priority (though that doesn’t necessarily mean I’ll get to them in that order... x_x;; ) :

1. Test the poses. TEST THE POSES, KTAR. It’s been like a year, KTAR. TEST THE POSES ALREADY. ^^;;

2. Update the pattern conversion tutorial.

3. Respond to the really patient simmer who messaged my cc finds blogs asking if I had something that I still haven’t looked to see if I have it. >_>;; Done.

4. Sift through the nearly 100 drafts on my main blog... see, I haven’t been entirely inactive in the sense of not lurking... I just haven’t been posting much.

5. Clear out the drafts of my cc finds blog.

6. Uh... play my actual game. Sometime. Maybe?

Updates, yay

Oh hey so I'm trying out this thing in an effort to play households even if I'm bored of them. This "thing" is me playing a different household each month.

This month is a family I started, like, a year ago or something, called the Hungry family. I'm on the 3rd gen with them, but currently I'm more focused on growing out a family tree of cats.

The basic idea with them is that they all have names that suggest varying levels of hunger (Zo, Notzo, Goshem, Hella, etc.) and if a Sim has a name that suggests that they are hungry, then they have to die of starvation. If not, they can die any way. Also yes I did get some of the names from the Sims 2 Curious and Loste families.

Next month I'll be going back to the Iveys, and working on filling out Dorothy's, Sans', Papyrus', Nick's, and Kris' lives as much as I can. Maybe make some quality time WD Gaster? Who knows.

Then in August I'll be going back to the Havens. When I made Talia I wasn't completely sure I'd continue to play her save, but I'd like to. I mean, when I left off, she just had Jack, so I think it'd be kinda sad if I just left it there.

This is probably planning too far ahead for me, but in September I might go to a family I started a while ago called the Carltons.

Nothing's really special about them, outside of them being vampires. They're vibin in Forgotten Hollow (which might be one of my favored worlds, given how often I have Sims live there). I'm on the 2nd gen(that is, 2nd gen are adults, but one of them has made the 3rd gen) with that family.

I want to add that I might not be posting updates all these families everyday, because let's be honest: The Sims isn't always the most thrilling game. So I'll try to put up stuff when I can, but I doubt it'll be an everyday thing.

I think I've finally accepted the fact that legacies/family play just isn't for me after a good 20 years of trying lmao. I've taken a good crack at it multiple times but I always end up stalling out somewhere around late gen 1 or early gen 2 because it's just...I won't say "boring" but let's just say it doesn't spark joy. I've always wanted a huge family tree and a ten gen legacy like almost every other Simmer in existence but I couldn't tell you why because I don't really enjoy playing that way. I guess I always get kind of envious of people who can tell you their family story from start to finish and show all the baby pics, etc. and they seem so enthusiastic about it. And like, duh Laura, of course, because that's how they enjoy playing. Everybody's different. Everybody has a different style.

What I'm doing now, a highly posed, highly staged, narrative-driven story is probably the most fun I've had Simming in a really long time and I find myself looking forward to it every day.

Maybe I'll take another crack at a family somewhere along the line with the Stewart-Clary family again because I really do love them a lot, but it'll probably be quite a while. Consider that save on indefinite hiatus.

Update - 9/17

Just wanted to keep everyone in the loop - the westerlands look book will be posted this weekend!

along with the incoming look book, i found more than a few more dresses that i would really like to recreate, so i'm bringing back polls.

once a month, likely between the 15th and 20th, i will post a poll. there will be 2-3 references to choose from, and the winning dress will be posted on the during the first week of the month.

i'm more than happy to take suggestions - either to feature in the monthly poll, or to work on in general! my inbox is always open, and anon asks are on (as long as everyone behaves)

hopefully this month i'll be able to teach myself a bit more on how to frankenmesh, so that i can deliver some more content!
