“Charges Dismissed and Bail Bond Cancelled,” Kingston Whig-Standard. February 7, 1933. Page 9. --- BARRIE, Feb. 7 —Despite the rigorous appeal of J. C. McRuer, K.C., counsel for Martin J. Insull, that his client be discharged under the terms of the Extradition Act, Judge Dudley Holmes, senior Judge of Simcoe County, today dismissed the original charges of larceny and embezzlement standing against Insull and ordered the surety released and Insull's $50,000 bail bond delivered for cancellation.
However, Insull will face extradition proceedings on charges of larceny, embezzlement and theft by a bailee in Toronto on March 5.

“Boy, 16, Killed By Shot, Police Hold Neighbor,” Toronto Star. November 24, 1941. Page 19. ---- Wilfred Daily Found Dead in Alliston Living-Room ---- MOTHER NOT TOLD --- Special to The Star Alliston, Nov. 24 - Wilfred Daily, 16, was shot between the eyes at close range and killed in the living-room of a 36-year-old neighbor’s home here Sunday. The older man is held on a vagrancy charge.
Daily was the youngest son of Mrs. Eva Daily, widowed mother of two other sons.
Police could not locate the mother to notify her of the tragedy. Her other sons, Louis, 27, and James, 18, said she had gone away for the day, but they did not know where. She left Sunday afternoon, and did not return last.
Dr. R. C. Wilson said he was called by telephone to the home where the prisoner lived with his 78-year-old father, who was absent at the time. He told police the boy was dead on his back in the living-room. The prisoner was sitting in a chair looking at him.
‘Wildred left the house after having his lunch shortly after 12 o’clock,’ said his eldest brother, Louis, 27. ‘He didn’t say where he was going, but he went up the street toward the prisoner’s house. He often went there and had been friends with him for a long time, ever since he was a child. I don’t know of any trouble there might have been between them.’
“Bachelor Is Accused Of Murdering Youth,” Toronto Star. November 25, 1941. Page 2. --- Special to The Star Alliston, Nov. 25. - Theodore Brooks, 36-year-old Alliston bachelor, was charged yesterday with the murder of 16-year-old Wilfred Daily of Alliston. Daily’s body was found Sunday with a bullet wound between the eyes in Brook’s home. Brooks and Daily were close friends.
Dr. R. C. Wilson was summoned by Brooks to his home, Sunday afternoon. The doctor found the youth’s body lying on the living-room floor with a wound inflicted by a .38-calibre revolver slug in his head.
Funeral services for the youth have been delayed until a second autopsy is performed by Dr. William Robinson, provincial pathologist, Lorne Taylor, funeral director, said today.
[AL: This is one of those cases, a confirmed 36 year old bachelor found with a teenage male ‘close friend’ shot to death in his house, that makes one suspect there was a romantic and sexual element to their ‘friendship.’ Hard to say - I can’t find much else about the trial.]
“Simcoe, Sept. 29. - A sentence of four months in the Ontario reformatory was given Alfred Matthews, Port Rowan, by Magistrate Gunton here yesterday. Matthews was found guilty of having homebrew beer for sale.”

“Farmer Accused of Stealing Cattle,” Flesherton Advance. January 18, 1917. Page 05. ---- Orangeville, Jan. 14. - Albert Allen, a Simcoe farmer, appeared before County Judge Fisher here yesterday charged with the theft of three cattle on Dec. 5th, the property of William F. Brown, also of Simcoe County. The accused pleaded not guilty and bail was fixed at $2,000. Last Fall, Allen rented a farm in East Luther, Dufferin County, paying a year’s rent, $400, in advance. On the 5th of December he started to drive four of his cattle to the farm. He alleges he overtook two men in a cart, with a hard of cattle, and he purchased the three animals now claimed by Brown. These men Allen did now know. Subsequently he sold two of the cattle. High Constable Marshall traced the cattle to Allen and he was arrested last week and committed for trial by Stewart Tate, magistrate at Grand Valley. Allen is possessed of a large number of horses and cattle. His brother and sister are sureties. The accused will elect to be tried before the county judge. The penalty for cattle stealing may be 14 years’ imprisonment.
