Hello lovelies! I’m back from Tasmania and have to say first of all a heartfelt thank you for all your holiday well wishes and comments, which kept me warm on many a freezing Tasmanian night. I missed you all desperately and tried to keep up sporadically using the app, but internet was not always reliable and the app is as buggy AF, causing me near heart failure at one point when it told me I was not following ANYONE. While it seems to be a problem isolated to the app please do not hesitate to let me know if I have somehow accidentally unfollowed you. It seems anything is possible, mired as we are in Dumblr’s unrelenting ineptitude. Anyway, enough whining- I might post some pics later, but I’ll tag them Tassie photos so you can block them. The main reason is that they have known each other and been friends since kindergarten. And despite everything, Joël knows that Roy will never, ever desert him, or not be there for him when he needs him. Roy may be an arsehole, but he is also very loyal and generous friend, with his own (very unique) moral code!

Roy genuinely thinks he is trying to help Joël by pointing out some home truths. But he’s also in denial about how upset he is that Joël isn’t going to be living in his apartment anymore, and he also has a lot of paranoia that his friendship with Joël will suffer when Joël moves in with Anita.

Correct, he did originally tell her that, but a few minutes later he was willing to change his mind when he realised how deeply she cared about them living together as a family. He told her that he would sell it if she really needed him to.

I'm not liking Roy at the moment... Why is he hellbent on destroying Jonita. Not cool, Roy. I am thinking Joël is completely in his right to spill the beans on some of Roy's dirt to Sonja, so Roy can know the feeling.
What a delicious thought! But also Roy knows that Joël would never violate the code and do that. It would be the equivalent of Roy sleeping with Mia, or Anita. There are just lines that can’t ever be crossed.

I have noticed though that my brain kind of dehumanizes people who dehumanize others. Like the less a person sees others as real, the less my brain thinks of that person as real. I’m working on it.
I did that once. I put 2 lots next to each other, one residential one a nectary, and I just had my sims buy it and they ran it next door to their house. Not sure if that's what you're wondering but that's what I got! :D

Yeah, it’s not going to be done tonight. But I am trying to get a beginning and an idea of where it wants to go.
I also put the whole chapter so far in a WordPress draft and fixed a few little things with the rhythm and phrasing in the last few updates. I also already have a title for the next full WordPress update.
It’s just....most of the time words just kind of show up when my fingers hit the keys and I’m like “Yay pretty words!”, but eventually the story gets to a point where I have to take all the previous pretty words that just randomly showed up without any direction or fixed ideas and figure out a way to make them make sense and fit in with the new pretty words, and it’s all hard.
Really though I wouldn’t have it any other way. ;)

It’s actually an online magazine that is free to read, which is cool because then everyone can read it regardless of their current financial situation. I will definitely link it here and you guys can drive traffic their way though!
As for when - all I know is the “end of the month”, so no more than a few weeks. Looking at their previous issues, it has been usually around the last day of the month.
And yeah, it’s a token pay market, but their stories do sometimes get nominated for the big awards and anthologies, and it’s a publishing credit to help editors at pro markets take me a little more seriously. And they do pay actual money and not just copies. ;)

Saw one of those “follow forevers” on my dash - reblogged by someone I follow, but I didn’t know the OP at all.
Things like that have always bothered me - and not just those, but hell, stuff like that bothered me back in elementary school. Because I can’t help but think of the people who were left out, you know?
So I posted asking if anyone else felt like that. Haven’t been able to get through the anxiety enough to read all the replies, especially after the two I did read.
One was like “You’re wrong and it’s just supposed to spread joy”, and I responded pretty well there. I just said “Nah, neither one of us is wrong. I just have different experiences that contribute to me having a different perspective than yours.” And then, being me, I couldn’t help but mention some of those experiences as an illustration.
Which then led to someone saying that they’d never seen anything negative at Simsecret, and that lit the flame, pretty much.
It’s all cool now though.
I reacted just after being triggered while I was still in full flight or fight mode, and I shouldn’t have done that. Because thinking about it after I calmed down, I think there’s a chance that person had Simsecret confused with PostSimblr. Which is all nice, because they don’t allow hate there. Which is why I’m on Tumblr - I saw an anonymous Simblr and I was like “Hell no!” but then I looked around and I saw that they didn’t allow hate, so I was like “Okay, maybe Tumblr is safe then.”
I mean, yeah, hate blogs pop up every once in a while, but I never hear about them again after the round of outrage and people saying to block them and love blogs popping up in response, which they also tend to fade after the outrage. As far as I know there isn’t a hate blog on Tumblr that’s an institution the way Simsecret is. The format just doesn’t lend itself to that as well as LJ does - people would have to be logged in to reblog or reply, and they’d have to own what they said. I mean, I guess they could make a puppet account to reblog and reply, but most people aren’t going to go to that much trouble. Especially since their reblogs and replies wouldn’t be as visible to everyone else as they are on LJ, and it’s all about having an audience.
Not gonna hate myself for reacting in anger too much though. There’s the chance that she really did mean Simsecret, and even if she didn’t I’m allowed to get angry in a situation that seemed to me like yet another person denying that Simsecret could actually hurt anyone and invalidating everything I went through. Even if it wasn’t the right interpretation, it’s reasonable to get angry at that interpretation. Just maybe I shouldn’t have expressed the anger until I thought about it some more.
And it’s always been my policy to unfollow and block anyone who I find out goes there. Someone who tells me that it’s lovely there gets, like, quadruple blocked.
Being around anyone who goes there is dangerous to my mental health, which is why I still unfollow people even if they say it’s a shithole and tell curious anons to not go there when they admit to going there themselves. Being around someone who sees nothing wrong with it is just asking for an emotional breakdown.
God, that makes me feel so hard for the people who get that sort of treatment IRL from their family or people at school or work. They can’t just block people. They have to deal with being around people who invalidate them and defend their abusers and don’t see anything wrong with their abuse.
