I was thrilled to oblige, and I think Nadia is one of the most photogenic Sims I’ve ever had the privilege to work with. (Nadia is a base Sim shared by @pixelore here). The Harley is from Lovers Lab here. (registration required and very nsfw link). Poses are by imho. Nadia’s red pantsuit is by Artsims and the only working link I could find was on Sims 3 planet here. I sorta... like that this happened? I mean, I hate that she's upset and locking Roy out is no good, but to me the fact that she's feeling so overwhelmed shows a very human side of her character. I can't imagine NOT being emotional with all these changes, and it's comforting to see that she's not unaffected by the consequences of her actions/choices. She hurt someone when she left, and it may have been inevitable but divorce shouldn't be easy or painless imo. I mean, I don't think she deserves to suffer needlessly or endlessly or whatever, but I just think it's good to see that she cares so deeply. And also I like that this seems like it's going to be an adjustment process for her. That too is good to see. Otherwise I might have felt, I don't know, suspicious or at least gotten a very strong "can't relate" sorta vibe. Anyway, sorry for rambling. *shuts up*
I’m so glad you feel this way Colleen, because the fact that everything had gone so smoothly for them was starting to grate my gears too...it was unrealistic, and I think I could sense that the suspension of belief required was becoming too onerous, and threatening to break the rest of the story. Theirs is definitely not a fairytale romance, lolol! Saoirse and Roy come from very different situations, and neither of them is really prepared for the difficulties they are going to encounter because of those differences. All I can say is that I’m glad Roy enjoys challenges! And your *rambling* is always appreciated!
Somebody HELP! This dude Liam doesn’t understand boundaries, and doesn’t fully grasp that he is actually committing a crime. My goodness. He actually believes that he is in love, and Saffy puts all her energy into consistently feeding this guys insanity.
Is he committing a crime, though? Under the Crimes Act, it is an offence for an individual to have sexual relations with a person aged 18 or under who is under that individual’s “special care”. In the eyes of the law the victim is taken to be under the special care of the offender if the offender is a school teacher, and the victim is a pupil of the offender. In December last year, the Bridgeport Criminal Court of Appeal ruled that a high school teacher was not guilty of three counts of having sex with a person who was 18 years of age under his “special care”. The defendant teacher successfully argued that because the Act defined “special care” in a school setting as strictly being a teacher-pupil relationship, and because the student was not in any of his classes at the time of the sexual relationship, she could not have been under his “special care”.
Liam could also use this defense, because Saffron is not in any of his classes.

I had to think about this. Naive as all of us are at that age and relentlessly invulnerable (I will never die in a car accident). Adults seem like foreign forms of life-I don’t remember ever even realizing that they felt vulnerable and would probably have considered it weird. He’s giving away too much with the ‘despair’ line.
No matter how mature, and cynical and jaded and Saffy regards herself as being, there is still a part of her that is thrilled to have had a poem written about her, especially by an older man. Her vanity is immensely flattered, and she is also not immune to the Byronic romance of it all. In just one simple gesture, Liam is no longer a morally corrupt adulterer, but a misunderstood and tortured soul!
I don't trust him. or this. or like this.. Ugh Saffy why. I called this but i'm not happy I called this. What's worse is, she thinks she's in control, but she's not.
I hope it’s not too spoilery to say that Saffy is going to get a HUGE shock...

He is definitely unhappy, he feels undervalued and unappreciated both at home and at work, and his ego is also permanently bruised because his wife (an academic) gets more kudos and professional recognition than he does. So sleeping with Saffy is also tied up with him seeking revenge on his wife for being cleverer and more successful than he is.

I really hope Liam gets caught and in trouble with the law for this eventually. I know Saffy thinks she's such an adult, but if you're underage you can't consent. Period. (I don't care if people mature at different rates and whatever arguments there are- if it's between an adult and a child it's always unequal!)
Liam is not an admirable character, and his motivation for pursuing Saffron (at least at this stage) is quite despicable. However Saffron is 18, and their affair is consensual. Just clarifying that for any readers who may not be sure of Saffy’s age. What Liam is doing is not illegal, but he would definitely lose his job and probably his career as well if their affair was made public. (as well as his wife and his reputation!) And you make an excellent point about the inequality and the power imbalance inherent in their relationship, even though Liam isn’t technically one of Saffron’s teachers, he is still of course in a position of authority.

And her drug use... Idk, I just worry she's throwing away her life so young with all these bad choices. I hope she eventually wakes up before it's too late.
Saffy will soon be forced to confront some rude shocks, don’t worry! But I would also like to reassure my loyal and gentle readers that Saffron is no fool, and out of all my characters she is one whom I worry about the least. Liam provides a distraction from her hurt regarding losing her best friend, and she definitely is enjoying a sense of superiority, that’s true and very perceptive of you! She thinks she is very mature and sophisticated. But still, she is not naive enough to think that their relationship has any future...she is just enjoying it for what it is.

@mochasims I don’t think he was acting like he did Georgina a favor, though. He was more pointing out that what she chose to make of that situation was her responsibility. Roy isn’t the abuser here, Bunty is, and Georgie can’t be relying on anyone else to stand up to her abuser FOR her. And yeah, it’s fine to need help. But again, she has to be the one to call in that help.
I think that by pointing that out to Georgina, Roy was very deliberately creating a smokescreen to cover his true motives for telling Bunty about she and Vinnie. And Georgina probably wasn’t fooled, either, but was too distraught about Vinnie to care. But Roy was right, all the same- Georgina did have the perfect opportunity to declare her love for Vinnie to Bunty, but instead took the easy and cowardly road. Georgina’s learned a very hard lesson, and only time will tell if Vinnie will be able to forgive her. But she’s taken an amazing step in the right direction by calling Patrick.

I truly think Georgie and Vinnie are perfect for each other, it's easy to judge her for how she acted when he mom came and say what you would've done or what she should've done... but she has the burden of an addict on her shoulders.. I hope she can break free, she'll be a goddess when she does.

I am interested to see how all this plays out between them (if she does pursue him). Also, it seems like there have been quite a few break-ups in your story lately (or as long as I’ve been reading anyway) and it’s always a relief for me to see characters finally deciding to make changes and get out of things when they aren’t working! I have hope that everyone will find some sort of peace eventually!
That’s so sweet of you to say. I have to say though that I love flawed characters, and drama and tension in stories and relationships, and moral ambiguity, and exploring how people react to stressful and difficult situations. In the current storyline involving Georgina and Vinnie and Patrick I am finding it so exciting and challenging trying to work out each character’s course of action, and how they would each react to things given their very different personalities...it’s what makes writing their story so much fun! Most of my characters are sent on very arduous emotional journeys and peace isn’t even guaranteed for them at the end...but I hope readers can say their journeys have at least been been entertaining! I can assure you though that I love nearly all of my chars very much and only want the best for them...eventually ;=)

why does he suppress his emotions with georgina? acting so aloof, its no wonder she's looking for an emotional connection outside of the marriage. initially i felt her description of vinnie was cold-hearted and tmi, but i wonder if she did it purposely to get a reaction and as per usual he gave nothing. i'm scared of what will happen when he finally does release all those bottled up emotions.
It’s just the way he was brought up, to be stoic and keep a stiff upper lip. It is also his M.O to run away from difficult situations rather than face any sort of unpleasantness. Georgina’s father Ian is cut from exactly the same cloth. Isn’t it said that women always want to marry their fathers? ;=)

I'm really proud of Georgie. The divorce aside, it's going to be a far harder and far longer struggle to try and detox from a lifetime spent with a narcissist like Bunty. Not to mention the societal pressure and judgment, which Bunty will only be too happy to reinforce.

As for Vinnie... I think some part of Vinnie probably knows Georgie didn't really mean it... but she did say those words herself, so until and unless she also takes the step of disowning them (again, with her own mouth), he's not going to try and fight that reality.
Georgina’s words definitely struck a raw nerve. And the reasons might be a bit more complex than just wounded male pride. You are absolutely correct, Georgina needs to accept full responsibility for her words, no matter what the motivation behind them was. And only then can she try and woo Vinnie back.

I'm wondering if Patrick is kind of a male version of Sonia here. Sonia was more overtly emotional about it, but her reactions were very similar when she found out Roy wanted a divorce.
There are a lot of similarities between them, absolutely! Both come from repressed, ‘well-to-do’ families where it’s considered normal to never disclose one’s feelings, even in the most extreme of circumstances. Sonia has rebelled against her upbringing a lot more successfully than Patrick but still carries a lot of emotional and psychological baggage. We don’t know as much about Patrick’s family, except that his mother Margaret is a society maven like Bunty, and that he was raised in a household that valued emotional restraint and conservative ideals over individualism and freedom of expression.

I’m so happy it worked, thank you so much as always for the support, dear Mirena. It seemed to fit that Nanette might have been a political activist in her youth...she has a definite bohemian streak, as evidenced by the way she has raised Mia (and the fact that she is very tolerant of Mia’s wild behaviour), and there’s also the fact that she never married, (and we’ve also been afforded little glimpses into her psyche like how she embraced the fact that Joël lived on a houseboat, because it made him seem like a free spirit. Not kowtowing to society’s rules has always been something dear to Nanette’s heart, which is another reason the idea of being a money smuggler appeals to her). And of course in her student days she would also have learnt to cultivate a healthy disrespect for authority, something that has stayed with her all her life and which made her a force to be reckoned with when the gendarmes came knocking. And it’s obviously a very useful trait to have when dealing with customs officers!
