JACK MERRIDEW HEAD CANON / SITUATION BELOW

TW ‼️: mental health issues and severe actions taken because of said issues are mentioned but nothing in detail

not a part of the trigger warning, but other characters are mentioned within this post. probably out of character and maybe extreme but like who cares because it’s a HEADcanon. also all of this is based off of the 2026 series since that is the only media i’ve engaged with so far.

the remaining choir boys make it back to school. 12 years old and completely unwell, some more accepting and aware of that feeling than others. jack, roger, and maurice could not look at each other the same. (i know there was a bunch of other choir boys but they don’t matter shhh)

during his first vacation alone, jack doesn’t do much. he slowly starts to feel this gnawing at his mind, denying it has to do with missing simon and feeling guilty.

the other boys get back eventually. so jack goes back into his new regular, which was basically be as cold and closed off as he can (and also deny the subconscious guilt that gets heavier and heavier each day).

eventually he somehow obtains a journal. he wrote in it once and felt stupid, so he tore out the page and threw it out.

this was a repetitive process for the next 6 years but he gets worse each year and it is obvious.

at age 18, during his final christmas vacation alone at school, jack falls ill.

he had been in a mentally dark place recently and had been contemplating what he was going to do with his life.

with this sickness bringing him back to the pushed away thoughts of simon, it all became too much. he knew the only thing he could do.

so the night before all of the boys came back, jack merridew took his own life. he saw it as an escape. maybe an escape that would lead him to a place of eternal torture or maybe even an escape that would lead him to some version of simon.

no yeah you're kinda right ngl. except roger does care at least a bit, he just- has an odd way of showing he does. and I'm not sure sparrow would necessarily expl💥💥💥💥
