Your boyfriend is a vampire.
Something you never thought you'd say or truly believe.
But it does seem to add to the aesthetic of fall, or more specifically, Halloween.
Halloween is about a week away, so Clary brought it upon herself to try and get you all together to do fall activities.
Today you’re carving pumpkins, but it seems that only you, Clary, and Simon are in attendance.
When you arrived, Clary said something about the shadow hunters being busy with something at the institute and that they might join you later for the movie.
You walked out to the back to see your boyfriend and Luke putting newspapers on the table on the patio.
You’re out at the farmhouse for the weekend, Clary and Simon said it would be the perfect ambiance for fall activities. You couldn’t help but agree now that you're standing outside.
“Are we sure these aren’t gonna fly away?” Jocelyn Fairchild asked, looking skeptically at the table covered in the newspaper.
“We can always tape them down later. Besides, the pumpkin's weight will keep most of them grounded.” Luke shrugged, looking at his fiancée.
“Oh! Speaking of pumpkins, we should probably go get them from the truck.” Clary said, rushing back inside.
Luke and Jocelyn began to walk after their daughter, meeting somewhere in between and wrapping their arms around each other.
Simon made his way over to you and pulled you into a quick greeting hug.
It was different hugging Simon after he turned; you were sure of that, but you couldn’t quite remember how it had felt hugging him before he turned. You quickly realize that you're not so sure you hugged at all before he turned.
Simon's lips pressed to your forehead, and you shivered involuntarily. It was an odd feeling, not unpleasant, just weird.
“How was the drive?” He mumbled, his lips pulling away from your forehead.
He kept one of his arms wrapped around your shoulder as you began walking after our friends.
“Decent.” You shrugged, “I must admit I forgot how beautiful this place was.”
You had been to Luke's farmhouse once before, about a week ago, but it had been nighttime and you hadn’t been there long.
Now, seeing the field of trees and grass in the light of the late afternoon, you felt peaceful.
Something that has recently become foreign.
When fighting demons becomes your life, you begin to savor this domestic kind of peace. Something as simple as looking at a pretty view wrapped up in the arms of someone you love.
“Me too. But if you think it’s beautiful now, you should see it in the spring, when all the plants are coming back to life after the winter.” Simon replied.
Your stomach rattled in excitement. Something about Simon sharing something he loved with you felt so...lovely? You can’t really find a good word to describe it.
Your relationship is still new, but your feelings have been growing for far longer.
Walking out in the front to where Luke’s truck (and your car as well) is parked on the gravel road.
Clary stood holding a pumpkin wider than her frame, the orange being an odd contrast to her hair.
She looked up at the sound of the door shutting behind you and grinned, “Finally, I thought you guys might’ve gotten lost in the bedroom.”
Simon surely would have flushed if he were still human, and your own cheeks conjured a bit of a rosy tint on them.
“Clary!” Her mother chastised, Luke shook his head disapprovingly, but didn’t say anything.
Clary blushed a little bit, seemingly forgetting her parents were there too.
“Whoops. Sorry.” She said, but her grin didn’t fade, and you all knew she wasn’t really sorry.
“Don’t worry, Clary, we'll save our antics for bedtime.” You whispered to her once you were close enough.
Clary giggled, and Simon looked shocked.
He squeezed your arm and sent you a teasing glare.
You responded with a mischievous grin of your own and kissed him lightly on the cheek.
He made a grumble sound of appreciation.
Apparently, Luke and Clary had gotten up early this morning and picked out a bunch of pumpkins from a local market for you to choose from.
Once you picked one, you all headed back out to the patio.
“Are you sure you don’t want me to carry yours?” Simon asked you once more.
You nodded in response just as Clary said, “Don’t worry, Simon, you can show her your newfound strength later in the bedroom.” This time, her voice was hushed to make sure her parents weren’t listening.
Though in the back of your mind, you wondered if Luke had heard anyway.
But when you looked over at him, he was chatting happily with Jocelyn, so he probably wasn’t paying attention to your trio.
Once you all found your place at the table, Luke pulled out a little bin of carving tools and put them in the center.
“I wasn’t able to get any from the store because they were all sold out, so these are the ones from last year that we were able to save. So we’ll all have to share. And Simon, you can still bleed, so please be careful with that knife.” Luke said, causing all of you to snap your attention to your boyfriend, who was examining one of the sharper knives.
He looked quite offended to be called out, “What- I wasn’t going to stab myself!”
“You may not have meant to, but that doesn’t mean it wouldn’t have happened,” Clary muttered, causing you to laugh.
Simon sent a glare towards both of you, but you only giggled in return.

Turns out fighting demons made it easier to carve a pumpkin.
No one asked for Luke’s assistance (which he seemed to be a little upset by) as you cut the tops of your pumpkins out.
You watched as Simon put his arm into the pumpkin to grab the first handful of pumpkin guts and saw him shiver in disgust.
“I swear it didn’t feel like that last year.” He said.
“You're a vampire now.” You respond.
“Right.” He muttered.

Sometime later, you walked over towards Simon to borrow one of his knives when you saw him beginning to carve out the face of the pumpkin.
“You're done scooping out the seeds?” you ask, glancing towards the pumpkin to see plenty more of the pumpkin's insides still present.
“Yes. Why?” He asked.
“Well, it's just...” You reached into the pumpkin and pulled out a handful of seeds.
“I’ll get those later.” Simon shrugged.
You huffed out a laugh and threw the seeds at your boyfriend, causing him to let out an exaggerated gasp.
Clary, who had apparently been watching, started to laugh. You giggled before looking at Simon’s face and wondered for a moment if you had gone too far.
Then he looked up and grinned at you, “Oh, is that what we’re doing now!” He reached back into the pumpkin and pulled out two handfuls of guts. He threw one at you and the other at Clary.
“Hey!” Clary yelled out in surprise.
You only giggled and walked back towards your own pumpkin to gather some of the insides that had piled up beside your pumpkin.
When you looked back up, a handful of seeds and such in both hands, you saw that Clary was smearing some pumpkin guts on Simon’s shirt.
You ran over to help Clary, throwing some of the stuff at Simon’s face. He cried out in disgust and looked towards you.
Realizing what he was about to do, you began to try to run backwards, but Simon was faster.
He grabbed you around your middle and threw you over his shoulder.
Then you heard Clary shout, “Let her go!”
She was running towards you with more orange guts in her hands.
Simon seemed to have also noticed his best friend because his arms tightened around you as he started running away.
Simon was running at a human pace, you noted.
You couldn’t breathe because of how hard you were laughing as Simon ran in circles with Clary after him, shouting things like;
“Put her down, and I won’t have to gut you!”
“Simon Lewis, I hope you don’t value your hair too much!”
“Once I’m done with you, I’m going to enter you into a pumpkin contest. You’ll look so orange!”
Eventually, Clary caught up with you, but at that point, you were dizzy from being tossed around as Simon ran.
As Clary threw pumpkin guts at Simon, he seemed to be tossing you around even more as he tried not to get hit.
“Okay, kids, if you want to finish these pumpkins before dark, you'd better go back over here!” Luke called.
Simon and Clary seemed to have silently agreed to yield their fight, and Simon lowered you to the ground.
You stumbled a little, but Simon's arms quickly sought to help you.
“You okay?” Clary asked you, still out of breath from running and laughing.
You nodded, but you caught Simon's worried glance, “I’m okay,” you assured him.
He smiled apologetically, “I’m sorry.”
“Don’t be sorry, I had fun.” You grinned, still a little dizzy.
“Okay, lovebirds,” Clary called out, walking back to her parents.
“Just because Jace isn’t here doesn’t mean you have to rain on our parade,” Simon called back, causing Clary to let out a laugh.
Simon kept a steadying arm around your waist as you walked back to the table.
When you got closer, you realized that Jocelyn and Luke’s clothes had also been stained orange; you thought they had their own little fight as well.
When you got back to carving out pumpkins (with occasional throwing of guts until Jocelyn told all of us to stop), things were peaceful with the remains of laughter still in the air.
Finally, you finished and looked over at your friends.
Clary and her mother were still very concentrated on their pumpkins. But Simon and Luke seemed to be chatting.
“You done?” You asked, going over to your boyfriend's side.
“Yep, look!” He said, beaming proudly, his arm coming around your shoulder to pull you closer.
When you looked over at the pumpkin, you saw a glob of different shapes.
“What is it?” You asked after a moment.
“What do you mean? It’s a smiley face with fangs!” He said, genuinely shocked.
“Oh!” You nodded.
“Let me see,” Clary said, wiping her hands off on some of the newspaper.
When she walked over, she let out a laugh, causing you to bite back one of your own.
Simon teasingly kicked the back of her leg, but it only caused Clary to laugh harder.
“It’s wonderful, Simon! Here, let me take a picture!” Clary said grinning
Simon was quick to move, causing you to nearly lose your balance.
“Absolutely not, you are not sending that to Jace!” Simon stated.
“What makes you think I'm sending it to Jace?” Clary questioned.
“Because I know you!”
“Oh-Whatever!” Clary said.
“Fine. If you think mine is so bad, then let's see yours!” Simon said, but as soon as the words came out of his mouth, he seemed to reconsider.
“Of course.” Clary grinned.
The three of you walked over and saw that Clary had carved some sort of ghoul and had even added some runes to the pumpkin.
“Really? A shadow hunter ghoul.” Simon said, seemingly unimpressed.
“You should’ve just carved out Jace.” You teased, earning a laugh from your boyfriend. He sent you a pride-filled smile that made your heart speed up.
Clary's face seemed to be a mix between unimpressed and amused.
“And make his ego grow some more, absolutely not,” Clary said.
“I say we name him...flace,” Simon said.
“Flace?” you and Clary said at the same time
“It’s a mixture between flaky and Jace, I think it fits,” Simon said with a grin.
“Did you just call my boyfriend flaky?” Clary asked, already starting towards Simon.

The rest of the night seemed to be spent trying to save Simon from Clary's wrath. But in the end, you wouldn’t have spent it any other way.
A/N: Right so, I do be participating in the @sheehanksgiving Prompt thingy, and I chose the prompt “Simon: vampire” as a fan of the book series and show, I can only imagine Alberto Rosende’s version of Simon as a vampire, due to the fact that Robert’s portrayal of him didn’t show him changing into a vampire. (He turns into a vampire in the second book, which would’ve been the second movie, which didn’t happen.)
It should come across the same, even though the actors are different, their portrayals of Simon give me two wonderful options to work with, which is always great because I get to take the good parts and actually give Simon a supportive friend. (all shade to clary, sorry not sorry)
How I wrote this so I wouldn’t forget the prompt: do big brain shit and think of how the reader found out etc.

You’d known Simon for quite some time. Apart from Clary, you were the friend he’s had for the longest. You’ve had your run-ins with Clary here and there, mostly because of the whole “Suddenly I’m a Shadowhunter and can make runes,” thing. However, some of it was just pure curiosity. You didn’t meddle where you weren’t needed, but she’d let you into the Institute a few times (only when Jace and Alec were out) so you could see everything going on. Was this somewhat illegal? Yes. Did you fear for your life? Yes. However, was it completely worth it to learn about a whole new world, and write it all down to digest? Of course.
It’d been a few months since then, but you began to get suspicious of Simon’s behavior. You knew he was kidnapped by some shady folks (very nonspecific, thanks Clary) when he accompanied her at one of Magnus’ parties, but something just wasn’t adding up. You did your research, and some of the things he was doing started adding up, and making more sense....as much as vampires could make sense. So, you decided to go about it in a completely normal and not at all CSI-esque method.
You had told your near family about it, and a few others, and they took your suspicions with a grain of salt. Magnus, however, would absolutely have your head for this one....if he could ever get Simon’s name right that is. The one that was sticking from your last encounter with him resorted in “Soloman” and “Sulfur Oxide”....yeah that was not going to fly well. You had no choice but to confront Simon about it. Totally chill, and not at all alarming.....right. Right?!
“So Simon, I see that you’ve been smelling more and more like blood. As well as that, you only come out at night, and haven’t eaten literally anything I’ve given you.” you say, pulling down a projector screen. It had a picture of Dracula on it, and random pieces of algebraic text. In the corner, there was a small doodle of Simon with fangs.
“Okay, where are you going with this?” he mumbled, a look of confusion covering his face. He laid down on his bed, which had been moved to the furthest corner in his room. It was positioned that at no time during the day, the sun could shine on it.
“Dumbass, I’ve watched Twilight before, you’re a vampire. I’ve come to believe that when you were kidnapped by other people, and they just so happened to be vampires. You got bitten and they fed off of you, and here we are. Give or take a few months.” you said proudly, hands behind your back.
“Oh no, not at all. I have no idea what you’re talking about.” he denied, looking away.
“If you’re not, then you wouldn’t mind me drinking this, would you?” you ask, taking a thermos off of his desk, and opening the lid. The smell of blood coming from it, however, made the gag a lot less appealing.
“I. Okay fine, you caught me....Please don’t be mad.” he sighed, covering his eyes with his hands, one of them peaking out.
“Why would I be mad? I mean, for the record, I’m not, but I honestly don’t have any complaints. If anything, you should be mad at me for bringing my projector and shit over when I could’ve just told you at the door.” you said, a look of sympathy passing across your face. You moved to sit down on Simon’s bed, and faced him.
“I just didn’t know if I wanted to tell you. I thought you may want to leave me or something. So I holed up here and just.....ignored it. But of course, you cut me to the chase.” he replied, smiling at you.
He moved his head into your lap, and he focused on his game, giving you time to completely disassociate. I mean, yeah, you were completely fine with Simon being a vampire, but what did that mean for you? Sure, daytime activities with Simon would have to come to a complete standstill, but that doesn’t mean that there weren’t plenty of cool things you two could do at night. Plus, it means that you would be able to get stuff done longer in the night....risking sleep...and part of your sanity.
He was going to be worth it though....he needed to be.....he had to be. Or else a random bedpost may not just be needed for structural integrity.

“How in the FUCK did you end up with the one vampire whos name I can’t get right? There’s literally an entire clan of them IN NEW YORK ALONE and you choose Sarcophagus!”
“HIS NAME IS SIMON.”
“CLOSE ENOUGH!”
Magnus sat on his couch with his fingers massaging his temples, a glass in the opposite hand. You’d decided to finally tell him about the whole vampire situation.....yeah that was not a great idea.
“How was I supposed to know he was a vampire beforehand, huh? Last time I checked, he was basking in the sunlight, and the next thing I know, he sizzles like a fucking George Foreman grill if I open the door even an inch. And on top of that, I had to tell him about it myself. He thought I was gonna fucking leave him Magnus.” you replied, collapsing onto the opposite couch, face first into a pillow.
“I’m sure you’ll be fine. There’s lots of nighttime activities. On the immortal and mortal hand, however, it’s a lot more unfortunate. Look at me. I’m upwards of 700 years old. I’ve seen so many people dear to me come and go. I’ve seen them from the first time I’ve met them, so young and jubilant. Only to see them rot away, from incurable diseases, accidents, the most horrible of things. The amount of mangled bodies I’ve seen is immeasurable. Knowing that it will never end for me.” he pauses.
“That I’ll outlive almost everyone I come in contact with on a day to day basis tears me apart. I can have no children. Any amount of love I’ll ever experience will be numbered from the moment I see whoever it is. But I have to live with it. And he will too. There’s close to nothing either of you can do about it. So you need to be dead serious about him. You need to be willing to live with this man until your dying breath.” Magnus said, whispering near the end of his sentence.
“I pray that he’ll never see those things. At any point in his life. But I know that he may, and for that I give my utmost sympathy. Even then, the only person he’ll have left, if he lives an immortal life like I have, is me. Ironic, isn’t it.” he whispered, giving you a teary smile.
The two of you sat in silence for a moment, and the clock on the wall seemed to mock you, but being the exact thing that traps Magnus. It seemed to bother you, and knock your brain about before Chairman Meow came into the room, jumping on his owner, who smiled at the gesture.
“How do I make sure he’s who I want to spend my time with.” you ask, lifting your head from the pillow.
“You’ll know......it may take time. Hopefully not decades, as you don’t always have that amount of time to expend. But you’ll know. And he should to.” Magnus stated, sitting up, much to Chairman’s displeasure.
So.....eventually you would find out. And if you don’t there’s always plenty of time to think about everything again. Plus, if the shit did in fact hit the fan, Magnus would be there.....for all of time.

Jace
You were bored out of your mind, so you had decided to walk around the institute and annoy the living hell out of your fellow Shadowhunters. This got boring too after some time, so you had decided to walk towards the training room to see if there was anything interesting going on.
You stopped right in your tracks in the middle of the doorway as you laid eyes on Jace throwing swords. He looked really focused, so you didn't want to distract him. Leaning against the doorway, you smirked as you watched his arms bulging. He was fit, you thought to yourself. There was something about him that had caught your attention ever since you met him.
As if he felt you eyeing him, Jace turned around to face you with a smirk plastered on his face. He stalked over to where you were stood checking him out, coming to a halt right in front of you.
"Enjoying the view, huh?" he said smugly while crossing his arms over his chest.
"Hmm, you are quite a sight, indeed," you shamelessly flirted back.
Jace let out a chuckle at this, "oh, please. I know I am, darling. But I'll tell you a secret. You are the best sight of the whole institute."
You raised an eyebrow and scoffed. As if.
"No, (y/n), I am serious," Jace said, "you are so damn gorgeous and you don't even know it and- and god, you make me crazy," he added softly.
Your eyes widened at this confession, heart beating faster than usual. Did this mean he liked you? That he was in love with you?
You were so lost in thoughts you barely noticed him pressing his lips against yours. Your eyes widened in shock once again, but soon closed as you wrapped your arms around his neck and pressed your lips against him firmly.
The kiss was amazing, hands down. You were so lost in each other you hadn't noticed someone walk into the training room until they cleared their throat loudly. The two of you jumped away from each other to come face to face with Izzy.
"Finally," she said smugly. "Alec! You owe me 50 bucks, loser!" she ran off after sending you another smirk.
Raphael
The two of you were in the Hotel Dumort, hanging out in Raphael's bedroom, determined to have a bit of alone time. You were lying on his bed, his hands wrapped around your waist and your hands tangled in his hair.
You didn't see Raphael a lot, you being a Shadowhunter and him being a vampire, so being alone with him for once felt amazing.
Raphael stroked your cheek softly and brought his head down to kiss you on the lips. It started off sweet, but you both were so caught up in each other that the kiss soon started to get heated.
"We should do this more often," Raphael said between gasps. You hummed in reply and shut him up by pressing your lips against his firmly.
"Hey, Raphael, I was wondering if you could give me some advice on- oh, holy shit," you were rudely interrupted by Simon, who looked utterly shocked to see you like this.
"Oh, hi Simon," you played it off, "can you save the advice for another time, please? As you can see we were quite busy," you added sweetly.
Simon nodded his head, eyes still wide from shock and sped away quickly.
"I hope we didn't traumatize him too badly," you giggled, making Raphael chuckle.
"Since he knows we are 'busy', why don't we continue what we started?" he raised his eyebrows.
"Sounds like a plan."
Simon
The two of you were walking around town as if you were a normal couple. You loved being able to spend time with him in the daylight. Simon enjoyed every minute of it, especially when he was with you. The two of you had hit it off after you actually bumped into him while leaving the Hotel Dumort. As a Shadowhunter, you had to discuss some things with Raphael, and that is also when you got to know Simon.
From the corner of your eye, you could see that Simon had a smirk on his face and before you could even question him, he grabbed a hold of your waist and started kissing you. In the middle of the pavement.
You pulled slightly away from him after your initial moment of shock, "Simon, someone will see us!" you gasped. You hadn't told anyone about your relationship with Simon yet.
"(y/n), don't worry. Do you have any idea how big this town is? What are the chances of being caught by someone we know?" he smiled.
You let his words sink in for a little while and came to the realization that he was probably right, so you nodded your head and slammed your lips against him once more.
You were pulled away from Simon when someone bumped into you.
"Oh, excuse m- wait a second. (y/n)? Simon?" a voice behind you said. You turned around and came face to face with Jace.
Simon awkwardly scratched the back of his neck while you stood there grinning sheepishly. Jace smirked and crossed his arms over his chest.
"Who would have thought. Anyways, here's an advice. Would you please keep this for the bedroom only? It's kind of disgusting to watch, you know."
Jace left after sending you one last look, making you turn towards Simon and breaking out in a fit of giggles.
Alec
"Darling, you look fantastic," Alec said as he came up behind you, putting his arms over your waist.
"Alec, I just walked out of bed," you giggled as you were brushing your hair. The look on his face made you feel butterflies, he gave you a look so full of love you were afraid your legs would collapse.
"You have no idea how stunning you are, (y/n), I am so lucky to have you."
"Now you are just being sappy and lovey dovey, Alec," you smiled as you wrapped your arms behind his neck, bringing him down to your level so that you could kiss him. You always had to stand on your tiptoes to reach him.
Alec deepened the kiss and let his tongue slide over your lips, asking for entrance.
"Alec! Something happened in the training room, I need you to come with me right now," Izzy walked in, jaw dropping at the sight before her.
"As much as I would love to tease you about this right now, I really need you to come with me," she said, quickly sending you a wink as she ran away.
Alec pressed one last kiss to your lips before he ran off as well. That sure was interesting.

Y/N’s POV
I wake with a sharp intake of breath, my body jerking upright in bed as a small cry escapes my lips. Mu heart hammers against my ribcage, panic flooding my sense as my hands frantically search the empty space beside me, grasping the comforting weight of Simon’s icy form. But he’s not there.
Fear tightens its claws around my chest, squeezing the air from my lungs as I struggle to control the rising tide of panic. My fingers tremble as they trace the contours of the bed, desperately seeking the familiar warmth of his body, the reassuring beat of his heart. But all I find is emptiness, a void where his presence should be.
“Si-Simon?” My voice wavers with uncertainty, the sound barely more than a whisper as I call out for him, my heart pounding in my ears. But there’s no response, only the oppressive silence of the room, pressing in on me from all sides. Tears sting at the corners of my eyes as I fight to hold back a sob, the ache of loneliness settling like a heavy weight in the pit of my stomach, “Simon.” I whimper again, the sound barely audible as I cling to the fragile hope that he’ll answer, that he’ll be there to chase away the darkness that threatens to consume me.
With trembling limbs, I push myself out of bed and stumble towards the closed door, my heart pounding in my chest as I follow the siren call of their laughter. Each step feels like an eternity, the distance between us stretching out impossibly far as I fight to quell the rising panic that threatens to consume me.
The laughter and yelling voices of Simon and Alec echo through the closed door, a beacon of warmth and familiarity in the cold darkness of the night. Each sound is a lifeline, pulling me closer to the safety and comfort that awaits me on the other side. But with each step, the knot of fear in my stomach tightens, threatening to suffocate me as I struggle to reach them.
As I finally push open the door shuffle down the hallway and step into the living room, the scene before me is a blur of movement and noise. Magnus and Alec are engrossed in their game, their voices rising in excitement with each turn. Jace is huddled on the couch, Clary is sketching, both of them lost in their own little worlds, Izzy is cackling at the way Simon is kicking Magnus and Alec’s asses at the video game. And then, there's Simon, his face illuminated by the soft glow of the lamp, his laughter ringing out like a bell in the night.
For a moment, I hesitate, unwilling to interrupt the easy camaraderie of their game. But then, as if sensing my presence, Simon turns his head, his face breaking into a wide grin as he catches sight of me standing in the doorway.
“Hey, there you are,” Simon says, his voice filled with warmth and affection. But as he takes in my disheveled appearance, his expression shifts to one of concern, worry creasing his brow. Without a word, he pats his lap invitingly, a silent invitation for me to join him. And with trembling limbs, I shuffle over to him, feeling small and vulnerable in one of his oversized graphic t-shirts, my cheeks still puffy from crying in my sleep.

I can still see the images of Simon, Alec, Magnus, Jace and Izzy laying there, dead, and there was nothing I could do to stop it from happening.

"Right," she says, her voice clipped and cold. It has me trying to wriggle out of Simon’s grip but he shushes me lovingly, gaze turned back to me, as if Clary’s disappeared and I can sense just how much it pisses her off but with the way Simon is looking at me I couldn’t care less.
“I think you should go.” Izzy is speaking up as Simon’s urging me to lay my head back on his shoulder, face buried in the crook of his neck, his gentle hand carding through my hair while the other wraps around my legs and pulls me closer. I can hear Clary left out a sound of annoyance before she turns on her heels and I hear the front door slam before Alec clears his throat and challenges Simon to another round of whatever game they were playing before I joined them.
And then, like a gentle breeze on a summer's day, Jace moves to sit on our other side, his hand finding mine in a silent gesture of solidarity. I squeeze his hand in silent gratitude, feeling the weight of his support like a lifeline in the darkness.
As I lay there, surrounded by the comforting presence of my friends, I feel myself drifting off, the steady rhythm of Simon's heartbeat and the soft murmur of their laughter lulling me into a peaceful slumber.

As I spar with Simon in the training room, his newly acquired vampire speed still leaves him somewhat clumsy. Despite his efforts, I manage to land a few taps with the metal training pole, each one eliciting the cutest laughter from him. His laughter is like music to my ears, filling the room with a sense of joy and lightness.
Simon makes a dash towards me, his vampire speed propelling him forwards and I try to sidestep his advance, having used my speed rune before we started. But, in a sudden movement, he sticks out his foot, catching me off guard and sending me sprawling to the ground. With a startled gasp, I feel myself falling, but instinctively, I reach out and grab onto Simon, pulling the flailing man down with me.
We land in a tangled heap, his weight pressing against me with a solid ‘oof’. For a moment, everything seems to stand still as I feel his body close to mine. His unneeded breath is coo; against my skin, and I can feel my heart rate increase slightly.
As we lie there, entangled on the ground, I take a moment to study Simon’s features. His tousled brown hair falling slightly in his face, and his dark eyes sparking with amusement despite our awkward predicament/ His features hold a boyish charm that never fails to captivate me.
I can feel my heart jackhammering in my chest as I resist the overwhelming urge to lean in and kiss him. It's as if my heart aches with longing, yearning for a connection that transcends the boundaries of friendship.

Plunging into the icy depths of the winter water in Central Park was not on my bucket list of things to do today. Or to do ever actually but here we are, me Simon and Clary, jumping into the water like it’s an everyday occurrence. The shock of the cold steals my breath away, the frigid embrace of the water envelopes me, numbing my senses for a fleeting moment before the adrenaline kicks in. Darkness surrounds me, broken only by the occasional glimmer of light filtering through the surface above.
With a burst of determination, I kick against the water, propelling myself upwards with all the strength I can muster. My lungs burn with the need for air, and just as I feel like I can’t hold on any longer, I break through the surface, gasping for air.
And suddenly, I’m not in Central Park anymore.
As I gasp for air, blinking away the water from my eyes, I find myself in a realm unlike anything I’ve ever seen before. The shock of the transition from icy water to this new world leaves me momentarily disoriented, but as I take in my surroundings, awe washes over me.
The Seelie Realm stretches out before us, transformed by a blanket of pristine white snow. Everywhere I look, snow capped trees tower majestically, their branches adorned with delicate icicles that shimmer in the soft light. The air is crisp and clean, carry with it the scent of pine and magic, and the ground beneath our feet is soft with freshly fallen snow.
Simon and Clary emerge from the water beside me, their faces reflecting the same wonder and amazement that I feel. Despite the cold plunge we just took, we find ourselves miraculously dry, as if the very essence of the Seelie Realm itself has welcomed us and granted us safe passage. That should be a good thing but with the Seelie Queen and her tricks… I really don’t think so .
Together, we make our way through the winter wonderland, our footsteps leaving a trail of imprints in the snow. As we walk, I can't help but marvel at the beauty that surrounds us—the way the sunlight filters through the trees, casting a warm golden glow on the snow-covered ground, and the way the gentle breeze carries with it the soft tinkling of bells in the distance.
As we approach the Seelie Court, Simon and Clary walk slightly behind me, allowing me to take the lead as the envoy for our group. The crunch of snow beneath our boots is the only sound as we make our way through the enchanting forest, the anticipation of meeting the Seelie Queen hanging heavy in the air.
Finally, we reach the grand entrance of the Seelie Court, its towering spires reaching toward the sky like fingers grasping for the stars. The doors swing open before us, revealing the opulent interior of the court, adorned with shimmering crystals and intricate vines wrapping their way around almost everything they can get their grip on.
At the centre of it all sits the Seelie Queen, her throne raised on a dais of more vines and flowers. She appears no older than a child of ten, with long scarlet hair and clear, blue eyes, wearing an intricate golden circlet for a crown. Those eyes betray a wisdom far beyond her physical years, sparkling with mischief and ancient knowledge.
She watches us with a gaze that seems to pierce straight through our souls, her expression unreadable as we approach. The air humming with anticipation, the weight of her presence almost tangible as we come to stand before her throne.
I take a deep breath, steeling myself for the encounter, and then I bow low before the Seelie Queen, Simon and Clary following suit beside me. As I lift my gaze to meet hers, I can't help but feel a sense of awe and reverence for this powerful being who holds sway over the realm of the Seelie.
“Welcome, shadowhunters,” She says, her voice like the tinkling of bells on a winter’s breeze, “What brings you to my court on this day?”
I straighten, meeting her gaze with as much confidence as I can muster. "We come seeking your aid, Your Majesty," I reply, my voice steady despite the nerves that flutter in my stomach. "There are matters of great importance that require your wisdom and guidance.”
As I finish speaking, a sudden sensation of pressure grips my body, causing me to gasp in shock for the second time today. I look down to see thick vines bursting from the ground, wrapping tightly around my legs and binding them together. Panic surges through me as I struggle against the entangling tendrils, but it's no use. The vines seem to have a will of their own, their thorns digging into my skin, piercing through layers of clothing.
A whimper escapes me as I feel my arms being trapped at my sides by more vines, leaving me completely immobilised. I glance around frantically, only to see Clary in a similar predicament, her expression of mix of fear and confusion.
“Si…” I choke out, the vines moving slowly over my throat, the vines around Clary mimicking mine, “Help us.”
Simon stands nearby, his bright eyes wide in shock as he watches helplessly. I can see the turmoil in his expression, the desperate desire to come to our aid warring with the fear of making a wrong move in the presence of the Seelie Queen.
But before he can react, the Seelie Queen speaks, her voice echoing through the hall with a cold edge, “Ah, Shadowhunters,” She says, her tone dripping with amusement and too much malice for her child-like voice, “It seems you have come seeking my aid, only to find yourselves ensnared in your own folly.”
I grit my teeth, frustration bubbling up inside me as I struggle against the vines, “What is the meaning of this?” I demand, my voice tinged with anger and desperation as my voice gets cut off by the vines tightening with barely a raise of her pinky finger.
The Seelie Queen tilts her head, a wicked smile playing at the corners of her lips, “You seek my aid,” she says, her voice uncomfortably innocent for what is just happening right now, “But first, you must prove yourselves worthy of it.”
I go to speak again but with a wave of her hand, the vines tighten their grip even more, causing me to choke out a strangled sound of pain, feeling the thorns digging deeper into my flesh, drawing blood as they hold me captive. Each breath is a struggle, the pressure around my chest threatening to cut off my air supply completely so I stop struggling. Alec wouldn’t be too happy if I died before he and Magnus could ‘claim me as their kid’ in Magnus’ words.
Through the haze of pain, I hear Simon’s voice, pleading with the Seelie Queen to stop. His words are desperate, filled with a raw emotion that cuts through the air like a knife. But the Seelie Queen merely watches, her expression unreadable as sh takes in the scene before her.
And then, as if sensing the shift in the air, she turns her gaze toward Simon, her eyes narrowing with interest. "And what of you, Daylighter?" she asks, her voice silky smooth. "Do you wish to save your friends from their plight?”
Simon steps forwards, his jaw clenched with determination, “Please,” he says, his voice trembling with emotions, “Let them go, I’ll do anything you want.”
The Seelie Queen smiles, a cruel twist to her lips as she regards him. "Anything?" she repeats, her tone dripping with malice. And Simon, being the idiot he is nods, repeating her words, his voice steady despite the fear lurking in his gaze as he glances back at us.
Her smile widens even more, malice behind those bright eyes as she watches Simon with a predatory intent, “Very well,” She practically purrs, her voice dripping with satisfaction, “You must kiss the one you desire most, Daylighter.”
My heart sinks like a stone in my chest, a heavy weight pulling me down as if I’ve just plummeted on the steepest drop of a rollercoaster. I can hardly bear to watch as Simon hesitates, his gaze flickering between me and Clary before settling on Clary. It makes me feel a surge of panic that grips me, the fear that he’s going to choose Clary overpowering any rational thought. After all, they share a history that goes far beyond anything I could offer him. They've been through so much together, and deep down, I know they're meant to be.
As Simon splutters in response to the Seelie Queen's demand, I can't help but feel a sense of resignation settle over me. Of course, he's going to pick Clary. It's what's expected of him, what everyone would expect of him.
