GREY'S ANATOMY
21x13, “Don't You (Forget About Me)”
GREY'S ANATOMY 22.06
We made a pact, we are focusing on ourselves and hobbies.
Grey's 22x14
It's been a looooong time since I said this, but this was an excellent ep! A classic, well-done combination of medical and personal stories, hitting all kind of emotions. And not a wasted minute (yes of course I could have done without the Teddy and Owen back and forth, but it didn't bother me that much and it might lead to Owen finally learning the lesson and leave).
First of all, of course: my new favorites. Amelia and Toni. Great starting scene, with a very entertaining little story to follow. I was a little afraid (in the brace yourself kinda way) that it wouldn't end well, since this is apparently Toni's last ep this season, but I'd say it ended very well. Yes, also very over the top romcom, but who cares, as it was supersweet, plus the best ass addition was simply chef's kiss funny. What I loved most though (besides pointing out that she's more than her achievements, with still enjoying the actual work) was someone telling Amelia so loud and clear she's not - I repeat: not! - a consolation prize. And yes, some others have said so too, or tried to, but actually making her sit down for this in this shut-up-and-listen way... well, don't know 'bout you guys, but I thought that was something.
Also this was a full two minute scene which is also really something!
Then we have Jules and Winston. Listen, I might never fully get over Jules and Mika. They had so much potential and when I put the pictures next to each other, they just work in a way Jules and Winston don't. That has nothing to do with needing her in a queer relationship, it's just.... I don't know... some Marie Kondo gut does-it-sparkle-joy feeling.
But... Mika is gone and dwelling in the past won't help. (Even if they force the reminder on us with the already used "Friends?" "Friends." line.) And this thing that they're going for, well that is Grey's Anatomy. In it's core. So let's just see where it leads us. Which, for now, at least is forward.
The Lucas and Katie was nicely done, though I'm glad they kept it within one episode. I don't have to be a fan of him to feel for him and this, of course, was pretty heartbreaking. His reaction to Simone was uncalled for though, it was the one thing in this ep I didn't like.
Jo's personal story didn't add that much for me, but I liked how she stepped up when she saw Bailey struggle (the women in general seemed extra kick-ass during procedures this ep! a great watch on it's own!). I was also at awe over the gall bladder removal, since I've been there, but I had like 5 stones, so 995 less!! 😂
Webber and Link, to round up, were just fine, I'd say (I'm never the greatest fan of Grey's trying to be educational, even when it's for a good cause), but it was all in good balance with everything else, so no complaints.
Now all I can do is hope they can keep this up. I don't count on anything, learned by lesson long before. But hey, at least we got a great one now!
The interns at Joe's Bar at the end of Grey's Anatomy ep 21x13. 🍻
And while I'm on the subject actually;
- I'm glad that Amelia hooked up with someone because what tf was she supposed to do? Put her life on hold just in case when Toni gave no indication that she was doing anything but avoiding her?
- Jo deserves a break man
- link has a communication deficiency and it's pissing me the hell off
- Bailey I love you
- Richard cognitive evaluation when because why are we firing a good surgeon over saving someone's life ?! But all the rest of the hospital tomfuckery is water under the bridge ok Richard whatever you say Richard
- have we had an update on Catherine's cancer ? Does she still have that ? Who knows.
- is it just me or has Meredith's walk improved
- Simone you're beautiful and stunning and talented and for the love of Christ what is your deal with the cheating.
- Lucas nobody can ever make me hate you
- Bailey addendum cause I don't want to hear a damn thing about Winston and Jules
- did Amelia give up rights to scout ? I can't remember and I have not heard her speak of him other than mentioning in passing that she is a mother
- what if we didn't bring Meredith back to traumatize her again. What then.
- I was genuinely hoping Owen was gonna die in the damn car bro ik we're not supposed to wish death for people but I did it what r u gonna do about it #bitch
- like yeah I want Richard to retire but he's very special to me actually. His voice every so often reminds me of my grandpa and it is comforting to me
Every intern in Grey's Anatomy: I need to be cutting into people's bodies soooooo bad, like if I am not tearing apart the skin of another human being with an e x t r e m e l y sharp knife within the next five minutes I will lose my mind, stand THE FUCK BACK much more qualified than me doctor, I am inserting this tube and there is NOTHING you can do about it
Random Grey's Anatomy Opinions (Part Five)
Catherine's cancer coming back is an arc that has happened at least 4 times, so the emotional impact is just non-existent at this point.
Along with the last opinion, Webber needs to either die or finally retire because there's just no emotional weight to his issues anymore.
Paralleling Schmitt as chief resident to Bailey was so interesting, and I think it would've been fun to lean into that dynamic more.
Lucas and Simone are actually really wholesome, and I hope they end up together.
Grey's Anatomy is very sex-positive, which is fine (I could do without the intimate scene pretty much every episode, but this is pretty much a soap opera, so), but it's got a huge problem with people who don't really want romance or are virgins (I'm pretty sure if an ace-spec or aro-spec character walked into that hospital, the entire cast would be flabbergasted).
Yes, the show fell off after Cristina left (she was one of the best characters and was the one who made the show iconic), but the later seasons do have some really awesome storylines and characters.
Jules has two hands for a reason, and they're for holding the hands of her boyfriend and her girlfriend (I love her relationships with Blue AND Mika, okay).
The fact that so many seasons went by without giving Helm a real love interest before Mika was messed up because she deserved some of that love she desired (and she's hot as hell).
I understand that Nick is primarily Meredith's love interest, but I thought it was a shame that they moved Nick to Boston for her when he was a really great Residency Director and the writers developed a interesting mentor-mentee relationship with Lucas.
As shitty as Owen was, Burke was not much better, and Cristina deserved a love interest who was actually good to her (my vote was Teddy).
