I let out a groan as I slammed the locker door shut.
"You alright?"
I looked over at Simone, letting my tiredness and frustration show clear on my face.
"What happened?"
"Some asshole," I mumbled. I felt tears building up as went through the events again. "Nothing I did was right. I'm pretty sure my breathing wasn't to his liking. I mean, come on, if you hate everything in the restaurant so much, then why stay? Go somewhere else! I do not make enough money here to deal with someone dragging me through hell like that and leaving me no tip when all I could do was attempt to live up to their ridiculous demands. It just- God! It pisses me off!"
Simone reached out and touched the side of my face, running her thumb along the skin. "You poor thing."
I let my eyes close for a moment as my shoulders finally lowered and I managed to get control over my breathing. Her hand moved to grab my chin, turning me to face her. She stepped closer to me.
"I should come over tonight, huh," she asked.
I bit my lip. I nodded.
She would offer me that when I had a particularly rough day. It was an act of kindness truly. She took care of me in all the ways that truly mattered.
I could barely keep myself calm enough to unlock my front door.
She lightly pushed me through the door and locked it behind us. I dropped my keys and stuff on the counter in just enough time for her lips to find mine.
I let out something close to a squeak as my back was pushed into the doorframe that led to my bedroom.
She led the kiss. I was just trying to frantically keep up. I grabbed at the fabric of her shirt. Her hands were doing much more exploring.
My breathing was labored when she finally pulled away from the kiss. She moved straight to the skin of my neck. My mouth fell open as I leaned my head back.
I needed this.
I needed her lips on my neck. I needed her hands on me. I needed to be able to kiss her and grab her. It was freedom. No more stress or worry. Just her in front of me. I could focus on nothing but her.
She leaned away from my neck, moving so her lips brushed mine. She smirked at the look on my face. Hooded eyes and parted lips and very clear desperation.
"Are you okay," she asked quietly.
I nodded at her.
She chuckled at me.
She was a drug. That was the best way to describe it. This job, this city dragged me face-to-face with some of the biggest assholes I had ever met.
She was the escape that I needed. A high to wipe my memories for long enough to get me through the night. And if that was all this arrangement was, then I was okay with that.
And as she shoves me backward onto my mattress, I knew that she was okay with it too.
