(Some) Things Vagno Said To The Italian Commentators Today :

- Vagno didn't expect Jannik to win as much as he did since iw

- "How do you (and Jannik) choose which players for him to practice with before matches?"

as both Jakub Mensik and Alex Popyrin serve well, they chose Francesco Maestrelli (bc he too serves well) to practice before monday's match

on match day, they always choose someone who sets a nice pace and doesn't hit too hard (and they chose Alessandro Ingarao)

- 80% of Jannik's practice session is the same before every match, the other 20% changes according to which player he's going to face, with the last five minutes spent trying the hits he'll most likely be met with on match day 🎾

- they thought a lot whether or not to play in madrid, but then they decided that stopping when Jannik was on a roll would've been worse for him, as he has found a lot of confidence in his shots after his three wins 🏆

- after madrid they gave Jannik three off days (they wanted him to have two full days off) during which they played golf and football together + "he kept moving but mentally he took a break" ⛳⚽

- "what players need the most is taking mental breaks" + "physically he's good"

- arriving to madrid after monte carlo, Jannik was still a bit tired mentally and he recovered during the tournament

- players take a shower in the same spot each time 🚿👀

- the more confident Jannik gets in himself the less superstitious he is 🧿

- Vagno is thinking a lot about Popyrin, they started watching his match yesterday, they already started practicing for the match, but that's normal as it is their usual routine
