Do you think the fact two years Jannik had won Wimbledon after painful French open defeats speaks to his resilience? The losses in RG were different but both required resilience to bounce back quickly especially last year
my dear anon, to me, it definitely speaks to his resilience. but more than that, i think it offers a glimpse into the mindset that’s helped make him the player he is today.
the way he was a second away from jumping but then turned around to give darren one more hug and whisper to him

my favourite jannik parts of petko's new substack article :D
I have so much on my mind about Jannik and Wimbledon that I just thought I should put it here, meant for no one except for myself, I guess.
First and foremost the feeling I have is pride. Jannik's ability to rise time and time again after hard defeats will never cease to amaze me. Athletes have been broken by far less than what he has endured. The doping scandal, RG 25, RG 26, so many heartbreaking losses, so many missed chances, the online hate and the way some of his colleagues treat him to this day and he just... puts his head down, goes to work, and wins and wins and wins.
I have seen athletes having a full year of hangover after that kind of stuff. I have seen athletes never coming back to themselves. He is so emotionally intelligent that he manages to come back after less than a month after another heartbreak. He manages to shut everyone up, about the heat, about long matches, about 5 setters, about coming back after losing sets, about being a M1000 merchant, blablabla.
The second thing is I find it almost disappointing how some people in the fandom cannot absolutely for the life of them be actually happy for Jannik, because of Carlos. I really really don't get it. If you're a little bit of a Jannik Sinner fan, you should be celebrating the huge accomplishment he just did. He is to be celebrated. Right now is not about Carlitos just like his win on AO was not about Jannik.
I also just wanna say how refreshing it is to see him happy and fulfilled, circled by his loved ones, feeling safe and feeling like the hard work has payed off. And boy, is it hard work, huh. I can't even comprehend the level of dedication employed, sacrifices, beating your body up, doing the most boring and grueling exercises over and over again so you can have a chance to hold that trophy again. He's so level headed. I often keep coming back to the thing he said about 5 grand slams titles being just 5 days, the whole other thousands of days being invisible.
I truly believe Jannik is already one of the greatests and he has what it takes to be in that top shelf in 10 to 15 years. Other than that we have the bonus of his incredibly sweet personality and the little peeks we get of the real Jannik every now and then. I just am truly grateful that I get to witness it all, through blood, sweat and tears, as he said.
Jannik Sinner, I admire the hell out of you.

I hope Jannik is hungry. I hope he enjoys the match with a desire for revenge.
I hope he can play his best and bounce back, both from the RG and the semi-final at the AO.
I don't know what to expect, because he has plenty of time to prepare as best he can, and Djokovic, unfortunately, has plenty of time to recover from this last match.
The only certainty is that I'll be as nervous as if I were playing on center court.
So here we go. Jannik, I hope again you're hungry. I hope you enter the field giving 100%, I hope you have no regrets tomorrow, and I hope that no matter what happens, you can come out with your head held high. I know you can do it, I know it would mean the world to you. I'm proud of you anyway.
Go get it.
