Skirt.

Feels like I’ve gone a bit skirt crazy recently, but I’ve been trying to make things I wear and this time of year I like to wear a skirt, smarter than jeans and cooler and not quite as smart as a dress, so I don’t feel overdressed, but feel like I’m dressed nicely.

I made this skirt recently from a fabric I bought at the knitting and stitching show. I decided to have buttons down the front and wanted pockets, I decided to make ones with bows on, why wouldn’t you?!

I’ve decided recently that I like a slightly longer skirt than previously, so this reflects that.

Floral skirt.

I made a pair of trousers from this fabric a while back, it’s a woven fabric that I picked up at Walthamstow last Summer I think. You can see the trousers here:

I had been thinking that I might make a skirt from it for a while now, I had considered making a pencil style skirt, but wasn’t sure, then I decided on making a simple elastic waist skirt. I had also toyed with the idea of making a skirt with a waistband, pleats and a zip back, but wasn’t sure it would be worth all the work and actually this style would look similar anyway.

So in a morning before going out I made this skirt, guess what I wore out? Yup my new skirt!! Paired with another recent make, a white lacey collared blouse.

I do love this fabric.
