Been studying a little bit of heraldry lately, really cool stuff. Decided to make a shield crest for my team on Pokemmo because of it, had a lotta fun making this :3
Easy Lemon Ice Cream Sandwiches
Simply Lemonade / Atlanta, GA / December 2024
PROJECT 2
This project had some iterations, but this was the final design, which I'm pretty happy with. I printed it on glossy paper to emulate that it was printed directly on the can.
New Rationale
Challenge
This project was about doing a series, so I chose to do a re-brand of “Simply Spiked” using the flavors they already sell. This brand is already well-known by many people, so trying to convey that same feeling as well as working with a can that had the design printed on it were the biggest challenges.
Approach
Simply Spiked has a consistent design throughout the brand and the different flavors of the drink, but this design it’s not very appealing to the consumer, and it can be improved in a lot of different ways. I was going for a simpler design, as well as adding something to represent the “spiked” and distinguish them from the original (juice, and non-alcoholic) version. For this, I made the logo and flavor bigger, got rid of one of the fruits and some of the text, and reorganized the rest. To give it a playful/ party mood vibe I added some lightning bolts around the fruits to represent the “spike” and every can use a different color scheme corresponding to each fruit.
Outcome
I’m really happy with how this project turned out because it exceeded my expectations even though I liked one of the iterations I made during the process (the one with the big 5%). In my opinion, this redesign of the brand looks more professional than the original one, it makes more sense and looks more appealing to the target audience.
PROJECT 2
Rationale
Challenge
The product I chose has a simple packing, but it's not very appealing to the audience compared with all the different options we can find nowadays in the liquor store. Instead of printing directly on the can, I'll have to print a sleeve to showcase it in class.
Approach
In this redesign, I want to change the design of the label and maybe make it more eco-friendly if possible because this beverage it's very interesting but gets lost with all the other options on the shelve.
Outcome
I think this project is going to make the consumer more drawn to the product. Besides, the product is going to stand out and look
Visual Design Brief
With this mood board, I wanted to show a little bit of the brand and mix it with the aesthetic I want to use for the new design. I want to mix a vintage pop/soda with a bohemian-style illustration.

PROJECT 2
Research in the field:
What does the packaging tell you about the brand?
This packaging looks clean while still being fun. The leaves give it a more organic feeling. It's also really easy to identify the different flavors with the colors, and it looks like the brand has a bigger audience because it doesn't have alcohol.
How does it do that, very specifically?
It looks clean because the illustrations on the can are just the leaves that are just a little bit detailed and don't take the entire can, instead having negative space to balance the visual weight of the elements. It also helps that the background for all of the cans is white.
What differentiates each "flavor"?
The colors.
How very specifically is this done?
The leaves have a different color depending on the flavor (2 types of gin & tonic), as well as the type in front and back that matches the color of the leaves. For the other flavor (margarita), the leaves change and have more graphic elements like the limes. This can also have another different color from the rest of the cans.
Product/brand selection:
Who are they?
Simply Spiked, an alcohol version of the "Simply" juice brand.
What does their brand stand for?
Freshness as well as using natural flavors. As well as making it clear that this version of their drink is not for kids.
How do you know this?
I know this because it says it in the can, as well as on their website.
The can has a little box saying that it has 5% of natural juices as well as saying that it's naturally flavored after the flavor name. The cans say "spiked" and some versions have a ring at the top saying that it contains alcohol.
