Prawn Paste Chicken - The chicken mid wings were real crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. A little disappointed that the prawn paste flavour was hardly there though I still enjoyed it a lot.

Oyster Omelette - Some of my uncle's family members including my mum and sis do not eat oyster but we still ordered it anyway since this was a must order item. The oysters were plump and round without the strong taste you get at most other places. Next to the one I ate in Bangkok, this was the best oyster omelette I had in Singapore.

The sauce of the Braised Duck with Sea Cucumber was packed with the flavours wholesome home-cooked goodness, I had close to three bowls of rice that evening.

Stir Fried Kailan with Garlic - The Kailan was those small stemmed ones which was nicely done with just a simple ingredient of finely chopped garlic.

Steamed Red Grouper - The fish was quite large so only half of the tail portion was used. The thick firm succulent flesh was very fresh which had to be if you want it steamed. That curly white pork lard you see on the fish just add to the umami flavour.

The last time my mother was at Ah Orh Seafood, she commented that the foods were very delicious and so my cousin ringed up to invite me, my sis and mum for dinner just a week before Chinese New Year. This was the first time I have seen a queue forming at a Zhi Cha stall!!! According to my aunt, you can call to reserve the dishes but you still have to queue for your turn to order. Needless to say, the coffeeshop was packed with diners since only they and the drink stall were open for business at night.

Ah Orh Seafood Blk 22 Sin Ming Road #01-258, Eng Ho Hup Coffeeshop Singapore 570022 Braised Duck with Sea Cucumber - The duck was cooked till very tender and the sauce full of flavours which goes very well with rice. A pity the sea cucumber had a rather hard texture on the surface and was not the chewy sticky kind I liked.

The Prawn Rolls (Hei Zho/虾枣) I found it very ordinary, the filling was chopped too fine so there isn’t much texture.

One word - Waffles.

If there's anything I'd recommend on the menu, it would have to be the waffles. Order them any way you like; with savoury items from the breakfast menu or with sweet items like ice cream and berries. The waffles are fluffy and really fragrant. They are so good you can just eat them plain with butter and maple syrup.

We also liked the fact that there was a guitar and a ukulele lying around for patrons to jazz it up while they waited/enjoyed coffee, however, we were told that the food here took very long to arrive. We clocked the time, and the food took about 20 mins to arrive. (It was forewarned on the menu that rosti will take 20 mins to make, but everything else took 20 mins too.)

There's nothing much to applaud for the rosti, if you are used to the variety made by Marche, this is a little thin and crispy and doesn't come with any sour cream or spring onions. The sweet potato fries too forever to arrive, and they did not wow my palette either.

Verdict: Food: GO FOR THE WAFFLES Price: $10 - $30 per pax Ambience: 6/10, they play Mr Bean shows on loop there. Cafe interior is a little messy for my liking and can be quite dim at night
