sinawe - four (1990)
March 23, 1992 Seo Taiji and Boys released their first album: Seo Taiji and Boys
Seo Taiji and Boys (서태지와 아이들) was a group consisting of the members: Seo Taiji (서태지), Yang Hyun-Suk (양현석) and Lee Juno (이주노). After the heavy metal band Sinawe (시나위) broke up in 1991, Seo figured he wanted to do something completely different, he wanted to learn to dance trough which he met Yang, who offered to join Seo's new group and they later recruited Lee. Originally Lee and Yang were only supposed to be background dancers and initially Seo had no plans do debut as a pop/dance boy band. The early 90s was an interesting time for Korea and Korean music, especially because of the lift of the country’s travel ban in 1998, foreign music became more accessible and Seo Taiji and Boys would start to experiment with new elements such as rap and techno in their music. They also started adding English language to their songs, which later became a big trend in K-Pop, and it also started making K-pop more accessible to other countries starting the Korean Wave. Seo Taiji and Boys also challenged Korea a lot, especially the strict censorship laws and the television networks hegemony over the music market, especially since the group didn't have to rely on television networks since Seo owned his own studio. The group debuted on MBC's Talent Show in April of 1992, and they got low ratings from the jury, but their song ''Nan Arayo'' and their first album became very successful.

July 31st, 2013, Sinawe released the special album: Mirrorview
Sinawe (시나위) is Korea’s first heavy metal band and has been around since 1986. The band has gone through a number of lineup changes, including having Seo Taiji (서태지) as a bassist. The sole member who has been around since debut is Shin Dae Chul (신대철), who is the leader and guitarist for the band. Interestingly, while Sin Dae Chul started Korea’s first heavy metal band, his father, Shin Jung Hyeon (신중현), is known for being Korea’s “Godfather of Rock”, as he is the first rocker in Korean history and formed Korea’s first rock band (Add4). Sinawe shares the same name in Hangul as Sinawi, which is type of traditional Korean music.
Honorable Mentions 2012 - Neon Bunny (야광토끼) - Happy Ending Her first EP, with the title track: “Oh My Prince”
