Continuation to the sculpting, Gideon keeps some, he remelts most and makes them into new sculptures, and the ones he particularly like are given to his friends (and mainly Kremy)

This is a true fact.
Sometimes you dont have time to be tinkering with big machines so you just melt a tiny sculpture into a different tiny sculpture. Before the Witchlight Carnival Gideon probably made random animals for Kremy, but now its a lot of unicorns and almiraj. Of course Gricko always appreciates a good little beastie figurine, and Frost and Torbek usually appreciate it regardless of what they are given. Small tokens of appreciation, you know?
Dream and Hob definitely agree to make the centennial meetings more frequent – as in regular monthly check-ins
…which turn into weekly visits
…which become the occasional long weekend stay
Not long after their reunion, Hob brings Dream to visit his humble flat near the university campus. It’s unassumingly cheery on the outside, but positively stuffed on the inside with all kinds of items Hob’s collected over his lives (I’ll have to get more in-depth about this in another HC list)
Dream thinks it’s all very fascinating, calling it a “mortal history museum” which just makes Hob chuckle and slightly blush. To him these are just mundane human things, which he thinks would pale in comparison to the things Dream has seen portrayed in the mortal imagination
In turn, Dream will welcome Hob into the Dreaming on occasion, not seeing the harm in it as long as he keeps him close. He frequently finds himself wearing those soft, slight smiles Hob loves so much while watching him bask in the wonder of mortals’ dreams and nightmares alike
He especially loves Dream’s library and becomes fast friends with Lucienne, which Dream is grateful for
Hob also gets to be chummy with Matthew and Mervyn, which Dream despises
But the great sprawling corridors and vast vaulted ceilings impossibly echo with Hob’s laughter and Dream revels in it (so that in turn makes Lucienne tolerate the troublesome trio)
So, just so we’re square, I don’t think Hoborg, Klaymen, Klogg, the other Hoodians are related. Not even in an AU sense, I just literally don’t. There’s quite a few reasons as to why, but for convenience’s sake, I’ll summarize my biggest reasonings:
- In the game, Hoborg, Klogg and Klaymen are never referred to as family (I checked); “friend” and “people” are used instead. I know the wiki says they are but I’ll be trusting the game itself a bit more.
- Klogg’s late-game letter isn’t enough proof to say that they are & can be taken differently, as can parts of the H.O.R. for similar reasons.
+ In Klogg’s mind, Klaymen’s on his way to beat him up for what he did to everybody, so why wouldn’t he try manipulating him somehow?
+ Certain religions use “brother” and “sister” to refer to each other, so why not here?
+ The term ‘brother’ can also mean “fellow being to whom I am similar/is similar to me”. Like the ending of Dragon Heart 2, where the villain dragon, Griffin, tries to get Drake to join him by calling him brother even though they are not related at all, and even after that when Geoff and Drake are narrated to have become brothers even though they aren’t even the same species. Point being, it’s a versatile word.
- Hoborg got the clay Klaymen/Klogg/the Hoodians are made of somewhere else; it didn’t come from him directly.
Probably the only exception to this would be that, since Willie is explicitly mentioned to be one of Ottoborg’s sons, I do think that he’s at least related to Hoborg.
I know I’ll probably (definitely) somehow get grief over all this, but I wanted to say it anyways. So, yeah, that’s about the long and short of it. You all keep on doing as you do as you choose. Bye for now.
I kinda want to talk about the whole ‘What is Mahiru’ thing people have brought up here and there since chapter 82.
Cause I feel like everyone has different expectations and all that, and theorizing is like the best fun for me.
This is not going to be very well thought out, be warned.
My current theories fall into three categories:
1. Mahiru is not human, but something naturally occurring
2. Mahiru is not ENTIRELY human, but something artificial, created or altered by humans or C3, Ect.
3. Mahiru is human and we’re being messed with for a cliffhanger and are about to receive the whole ‘you were only human the entire time, you don’t have to be special to make a difference, etc. speech’.
Now obviously number 3 is pretty self explanatory; it’s hard to make serious theories when I may be missing out on context contained in the original Japanese that didn’t translate well, but all Uncke Tooru said was ‘due to a particular reason’, Mahiru didn’t have the abilities of a magician. So really, something could have simply happened to him as a child, or he was born without powers. Thus, the ending to the sentence, “Mahiru, you are...” is just “...an ordinary human.” However I don’t like this theory because it’s a little bit of a weird build up and it’s not very fun.
So, number 1. Now, considering both Mahiru’s mother and father both had magician blood, he should also be a magician. But he’s not. Why? Now, as strange as it sounds, perhaps it’s BECAUSE he’s inherited full-blooded magician from both sides that a natural mutation has occurred. Perhaps there’s a rare occurrence where a new creature is borne from a concentration of natural magic, but is unable to use it. It means that I’m doubting he’s going to be some super awesome creature like a Dragon or a Phoenix, but a twist on existing mythology especially regarding humanoid creatures may be on the cards. ((It could also just mean he lives for a really long time))
Number 2 is something I’ve been playing with for a very long time. Here’s where the actual theorizing is ( as is the suuuper long reaching). Now, my attention was initially drawn to the possibility of C3 meddling with humans when it was hinted that they were ‘storing’ jinn, and had captured and studied Tsubaki for a number of years. To get straight to the point, it is possible that they were using the research for two purposes; to create weapons to fight the supernatural;
And to perfect immortality.
Compared to the other Servamps, Tsubaki seems almost more complete. He can walk in the sunlight, as can his subclass, and he’s incredibly strong, even more so than most of his older siblings. Whatever it was that Sensei was working towards was obviously more prevalent in Tsubaki, a research subject under C3’s control. Now if Mahiru’s mother was a magician beneath C3’s umbrella, would it be possible for her to gain access to that research? And if Mahiru’s life was in danger as a child, how far would the desperation of a mother go? It also makes his mother’s whole death pretty suspicious actually, as well as the way Mahiru’s entire extended family refused to take him in. I mean, say for example they Mahiru ‘died’ as a child, but then mysteriously came back to life. I would be pretty freaked, even as a family member. But I am getting carried away since none of that has actually happened or been confirmed.
So to cap it all off, my three theories are as follows:
- Mahiru is human, either because he had an accident as a child or we’re being led along like a dog on a leash with all the vague hints
- Mahiru is not human, but a creature usually only born from magician parents or being with a lot of magical power
- Mahiru is the culmination of C3’s research, including the research on Tsubaki, which was stolen by his mother. He’s probably immortal and stronger than he knows and it all links back like a circle, as he’s the accidental final result of Sensei’s research.
More theories are appreciated, but I’m banking on immortal Mahiru here
