Expedition? What are you trying to find? Pronouns?
Hi, more Shepnax highschool au ideas
So, Shep and Sarnax aren’t in the same math class. Sarnax is in an on-level class with Victoria, and Shep is in an advanced class with Kana. By this point, Shep and Sarnax are very much crushing on each other, but they’re also dumb dumbs who don’t realize their feelings are reciprocated. And the lesbians are very sick of their pining (oh yeah, Kana and Victoria are girlfriends btw)
Anyway, Victoria—despite never meetings Shepherd—starts to realize that Sarnax has subconsciously picked up some of Shep’s speech mannerisms. No, he’s not necessarily talking like Shep now, but he is saying some of Shep’s more common phrases now, and some words he pronounces with a sort of southern-adjacent accent (yes I am projecting). And she’s also realizing that Sarnax is doodling. He may not even realize it, but he is. And that’s certainly not like him.
So one day, Victoria glances over his shoulder, and sees a little doodle of Sarnax and and Shep holding tails, and Victoria teases him, and Sarnax responds with something like “Shepherd is not my boyfriend.” And Victoria is like “okay, I didn’t even mention that, but now I’m curious.” So now she’s pestering him, and he is thoroughly embarrassed.
Likewise, Shepherd physically cannot shut up about Sarnax. I mean, they get their work done really quickly, so their teacher lets them chill out in study hall outside the classroom, and he just. Doesn’t stop talking about Sarnax. When he can’t talk about Sarnax, he rarely talks at all. It’s honestly incredible, it’s like he has a switch.
Also. Shepherds entire face lights up when he sees Sarnax. Whether the lizardfolk is walking the hall, or they’re chilling out in free period, or whatever. Shepherd lights up so brightly every time he sees Sarnax that he practically rivals the sun.
And once Victoria and Kana learns that their friends are very much crushing on each other and are also very dumb, they are bound and determined to get these boys together.
Shepherd: Why are your tongues purple?
Victoria: We had slushies. I had a blue one.
Kana: I had a red one.
Shepherd: oh.
Shepherd:
Shepherd: OH.
Clayton:
Clayton: You drank eachothers slushies?
Save me loa yuri, loa yuri save me
"Victoria you must stay behind me at all costs" "yes kana 😖" they need to be more popular of a ship. I imagine them smooching while Shepnax is going thru their weird "Will they/Won't they + religious idolization". They are just watching and holding hands
y'alllll I FINALLY get why people are shipping Kana and Victoria <33
Kana is so so sweet and supportive <3 they're fucking holding each other up and supporting each other every step in the way <3 soo so many soft, sweet moments between them, so many reassurances, god i love them so much
After the scene with Kana trying to use her purifying water on Victoria I was like "woag...doomed yuri" and made this really quickly
Going entirely of topic here but I really love Kanatoria, they have such great potential and it's a shame that not many people notice it, I'm a firm believer of "Kana fell first, Kana fell harder" because she always entirely commits. she wandered through avantris for years to find her master and prove her innocence, she didn't try to build a new life for herself and forget what happened, not because she wasn't able to, but because she simply refused to lose.
When Kana wants to achieve a goal she will not rest until she has reached it, but she never "gets" Victoria, and I know that she wouldn't be bitter about it, that she would genuinely want for her to be happy and find her own way, but it's still bittersweet, because Kana has never "lost" before. She might be happy for Victoria but something inside her is still unfinished, unresolved, and she will carry that feeling for the rest of her life.
