At the beginning of the month, I posted about it being a decade since I joined Tumblr, and that it happened to coincide with Sukkot. I decided to delay posting some of my all-time faves until after the holiday, assuming that I would be able to do so after 8 October.

For some time before my Tumblr anniversary, I had considered stepping away from this site, as I had from much of social media, or at least limit my time online. I have good personal reason to remain; I owe a debt to Tumblr for literally saving a life and a relationship, and I will forever value that. But I'm queuing up posts now as a precaution; in case I'm unable or unwilling to do so going forward.

Coffee is from Africa/Asia [most trace it back to Ethiopia and/or Yemen, long before the New World was discovered by Europeans.] but we also wouldn't have cranberries, many varieties of beans and squash [pumpkins], avocados, pineapple, and vanilla, among others.

*looks what i wrote* *facepalm* I’m sorry for my mistake. True. Of course Coffee is from Africa/Asia, they aren’t called Arabica for nothing. *head-desk* I only thought of how it only became common in Europe in the same timeframe.

Of course there are many, many other plants that come from different places in the world. With pineapple and such though it is always somewhat clear, that they are “exotic”. Potatoes, tomatoes, and bell pepper especially are so linked to our identies by now... 

Germans are nicknamed “Kartoffel” (potatoe) by immigrants living here... much like English might call us Krauts.

Just playing catch up here...

...cleaning out some posts I had saved. I’ve been preoccupied with Real Life since the end of August and had practically no internet access for most of September while I was awaiting the birth of my first grandchild [!!!]. October was filled with High Holidays and the engagement of my middle child, followed by a whirlwind of planning for the wedding and the USA elections [the results of which has thrown me into a major depression and heightened state of anxiety; thanks, America.]  The wedding is mere days away to be followed by Chanuka, a new year, a new president, and my birthday. What’s that phrase about living in interesting times?

Part of the fun of all this is was I avoided a lot of the fandom wankery around Tom, although I did follow much of it online as a lurker. As I was going through my likes and drafts, I realized I’ve really been missing fandom and writing a LOT. We’ll see if I can get back to a regular writing schedule at any point--that remains to be seen, as Reality keeps interfering.

Her very first grand-baby was born this morning at 1:28am CST (9:28am in Israel where said event took place)!

So far, baby seems unimpressed with the world.

Need A Room For DashCon?

OK, so @sincerejester and I have a room already booked for DashCon. We're staying at the main hotel (Renaissance Schaumberg) and we're looking for another two room-mates!

WHAT YOU GET:

COMFY BED: There are two beds in the room, so you will share. But at least you will not be sleeping on someone's floor! We have the hotel room from Thursday through Sunday, so that's three nights! (And, for reference, we are all girls and all over the age of 18. You should be too!)

FOOD! Let's talk food! sincerejester is a caterer/cook and will be feeding everyone for the duration of the convention. There will be hot food available in-room or she can also pack you a lunch to take with you if you don't want to come back to the room during the day. All diets/food restrictions will be readily accommodated. (The food will all be certified Kosher and many offerings will be gluten-free.)

CONVENIENCE: I have a table in the Artist's Alley. If no one is currently in the room, at least one of the keys will always be at my table. So if you decide you need a nap in the middle of the day but you aren't sure if anyone is in the room to let you in, just come to my AA table and I will give you one of the keys! You can also stash your stuff at my table so you aren't lugging it around all day! I will also have emergency/cosplay supplies at my table (Aleve, antacids, band-aids, safety pins, needle and thread, glue gun, that sort of thing).

ENTERTAINMENT: We're very fun people, honest! If you have a glance at our blogs, you can see that we're all very fandom-obsessed! So we will get every nerd joke you can throw at us and we will throw a few of our own out there.

WHAT WE NEED:

sincerejester is asking for $100 from each person to cover the cost of the room and the food. That's way cheaper than getting your own hotel room and eating fast food all weekend! Way healthier too!

We need to have a confirmation soon, since the con is in just eight weeks! Please send me an Ask ASAP!

Well, just the good stuff I've missed since I joined the church, which was in 93.  Last rated R movie I saw was White Men Can't Jump, and the most recent was like five months ago with The Deep Blue Sea.  

I don't care for horror flicks or anything with a rape theme, etc.   But I wanna see the good stuff!!  Everyone has been AMAZING with their lists!!

1. What is the origin of your URL?

There's a band I really like (used to be my favorite, but I don't listen to them as often as I used to) called Black Veil Brides, and in the first song I ever heard by them, "Fallen Angels," there's the line: "To those who sing alone, no need to feel this sorrow" and I've always liked how it sounds.

2. Where are you from?

Live in Massachusetts, born in Florida.

3. What is your favorite food?

This is a loaded question. I like a lot of things, as long as they're cooked right and have a nice flavor. I'm willing to try pretty much anything once except really exotic sushi and mushrooms.

4. Do you have a religion?

I'm Catholic although I'm really not religious at all. I pray sometimes and go to church once a year for a memorial thing that my whole family goes to, but aside from that, I don't really practice.

5. What’s your favorite song atm?

This is also a loaded question. At this very moment, it's "Tits and Ass" from A Chorus Line because I have to perform Val's monologue in less than a week and I need to harness her sexuality and confidence soon.

6. Do you swear a lot?

Ehh...Not really. I say "shit" a lot and "Jesus Christ" (some people consider that a swear), but other than that, no. I swear more in written form than I do verbally. 

7. Describe your favorite thing to wear to bed (not for sexy-time just for sleepy-time).

Summer: T shirt & shorts. Winter: sweatshirt and yoga pants.

8. What is your favorite TV show?

I have four. "Chuck," "Once Upon A Time," "Doctor Who" and "Supernatural."

9. What is your sexuality? 

I'm straight.

10. What’s your favorite book?

My favorite books are probably my collection of Fairy Tales (I have two collection books I think) or the Harry Potter series. 

11. If you could do anything you wanted to right now, what would you do?

Sleep, eat, go on a vacation, finish my homework in the blink of an eye so I can relax the rest of the night...I don't really know.
