I know you get a lot of prompts and stuff but i have an idea for a fanfic about Johnny and it when his dad is getting released and he comes back to surprise Johnny cause he was released early on good behavior or something but when he gets there he notices that it looks like empty and there hasn't been anybody there in a while and it turns out that the place got hit and Johnny had to go stay at the theatre and BD is not happy about this and find Johnny been getting hurt and stuff
What should have been the best day of his life is quickly becoming the worst. The garage is empty, void of any life, and Johnny is gone. He’s not here and he clearly hasn’t been for a while.
“Boss?” Barry asks nervously; they’re all confused.
“I didn’t tell him we were getting out,” BD admits slowly. “I wanted to surprise him.”
“Where is he?” Doug asks, wandering around the place. The garage had never been particularly home-y, blank walls and sparse furniture, but this is creepy. No signs of life - no clothes anywhere, no books, not even dirty dishes - and broken windows along the walls.
BD gulps; he doesn’t know how to answer Doug’s question and it’s terrifying him.
“We, ah, could check the theatre!” Barry offers. “Johnny hangs around there a lot, right? He works there now or something?”
Nodding, Big Daddy feels numb. He saw his son just yesterday, but looking at the empty garage makes it feel like years.
The theatre is closed, but BD doesn’t give a damn when he’s looking for his son. He bangs on the door, drawing the attention of some passersby, while Doug and Barry peer in through the windows.
He draws back his fist to start pounding the door down, but it swings open by a wrinkly lizard, with one eye looking at him and the other at the ceiling.
“Yes?” The old woman croaks out.
Temporarily speechless, BD sputters. Out of all the horrible things he imagined to happen to his son, an elderly reptile was not in any of them. “I-I’m looking for my son. Johnny. His name. My son is Johnny.”
“Oh yes,” she nods her head and BD is reminded of a bobble head Johnny had asked for as a kid. “Johnny’s right inside. Come on in,” she steps aside and allows the three men to enter.
Huh. This is the first time he’s ever seen the theatre his son loves so much. He had wanted his first time here to be with Johnny, excitedly giving him a tour, but finding him was more important.
“I’m Mrs. Crawley,” she introduces herself as they walk. The name is familiar and BD tries to remember Johnny ever talking about her.
“You’re the secretary here, right?”
She does another impression of a bobble head. “I am. I have been for many years.”
Mrs. Crawley guides them through the huge theatre and BD understands why his son is so enamored with the place - it’s extravagant.
“Johnny’s room is right here,” down another hallway, she knocks lightly on a door. “Johnny, you have visitors.”
BD’s breath hitches at the rustles on the other side. Having gone an hour without knowing where his son was has his heart thumping already and it doesn’t calm until a familiar face opens the door.
“Johnny!” He shouts and grabs his son, holding him against his chest.
“Dad?” The voice is muffled, but BD can hear the question. “Wha’ are you doin’ ‘ere?”
Before he can answer, Johnny is pulled from his arms by Barry. “We were so worried about you!” The other gorilla nearly cries. “Don’t you ever scare me like that again, young man!”
BD scoffs at Barry (though he knows he wasn’t holding up much better). “We were looking for you,” he snaps and grabs Johnny back, holding him at arm’s length, scowling at him. “We went to the garage and it’s trashed. What happened?”
Johnny nervously averts his gaze, staring at the ceiling. “I-uh, got lonely there.”
“You said the tigers were following you home there,” Mrs. Crawley creaks. “I thought they were causing trouble for you.”
Johnny’s mouth is immediately pressed shut, having been caught in a lie.
“What,” BD growls, and lets go of his son so that his hands can ball into fists, “is she talking about?”
Silence. Then Johnny finds his voice. “The…The Stripes. They, um, heard you were all in jail. So they…started giving me some trouble.”
“They were mad that we were crossing on to their territory,” Johnny says softly. “So they… They just followed me home sometimes. But I…they never did anything!”
“Never?” Barry asks suspiciously before BD can.
Johnny bites his lip. “Once…or twice. I’m okay!” Big Daddy snarls. “Mr. Moon let me stay here! More people, more security, I didn’t have to walk home at nights,” he explains.
“He’s been a very good boy,” Mrs. Crawley pats both of their shoulders. “Helps clean at the end of the day and everything.”
“Mrs. Crawley, could you, uh, make my dad and his friends some tea please?” Johnny asks awkwardly.
“In a minute, dear. I’d rather stay and listen to how this plays out.”
“Dad, really,” Johnny starts before BD can say anything. “I haven’t seen any of them in months, please. It’s okay.”
“It most certainly is not!” Barry exclaimed.
“They went after one of our own,” Doug agrees. “We can’t let that pass.”
“You’ll get sent back to jail!” Johnny protests. “How…are you all here?”
“Out early for good behavior,” Doug explains, the most level-headed at the moment. He gives a pointed look to his friends. “He’s right, we can’t do anything that will send us back. Not so soon at least.”
“I can’t lose you all again,” Johnny says earnestly, eyes pleading for calm. “Please, just let it be. For now?”
BD wants to punch a wall and then the thugs that hurt his son. He wants to shove their faces through cement and watch them bleed.
But an even stronger urge is to just hug his son right now and be there for him. See Johnny’s shows and provide the safety and comfort he couldn’t before. Hold him tightly and not let him go.
I feel like this ended quickly, but it’s getting late. I hope you liked it!
