Spyro: Year of the Dragon, PS1 (2000)
It’s taken me a long time to realize and accept that it probably isn’t ever going to go away, and that there’s a way to live alongside it. (I wasn’t sure about posting this, because it’s pretty personal but screw it because I’m all about the destigmatization of mental illness) ❤
I like this because it took me about seven years, but I can finally think about my own anxiety and depression as this really annoying bird that got into the house. I can’t fucking catch it. It won’t god damn leave. I can hear it flapping around and being annoying, but we have figured out how to live with one another with only the occasional meltdown.
We’re like a buddy cop movie starring cops who are too lazy to solve crimes and watch Netflix instead.
feelin’ it!

I really want to put up the Capes video Amber and I filmed when I was in Cali but I can’t find any music that fits it. Blegh.

pros and cons of 'making food'
Pros: food
Cons: making
Osiris and Riff Ratt
Osiris is a 3-year-old Dutch Shepherd mix. Riff Ratt is a 3-month-old fancy rat. They live in Chicago and they’re BFFs.

I am LOVING that “he licked back!?!?” face up there
Amber, could you imagine Kiki running free with a dog? Insanity.
someone who is good at self regulating: and after i take a shower i will do my homework
me, a goblin: i will lie in bed for 6 hours thinking about what i should do
I felt pretty good about my finances but then suddenly it was like
CHRISTMAS PRESENTS, UNION DUES, PHONE BILL, DOG FOOD, MEDICAL INSURANCE
And now I’m afraid to look at my credit card.
Pet peeves in TV shows and movies:
Unfastened coats in winter
Obviously empty coffee cups
Hanging up the phone without saying goodbye
Obviously empty handbags
Leaving barely touched plates of food in a restaurant
Apartments and homes that don’t match up to income
Having a job but never being at work
A million pillows on the bed when waking up/going to bed
Perfectly clear counters
Unfastened coats - Costumes fights actors to put their clothes a certain way. Some actors are just like, nah. So there could be a costumer fighting all day to close that coat for you.
Empty Cups - Usually, they put water in them but also, you’re playing with fire putting liquids on set that don’t need to be there.
Not saying goodbye - Hate this personally, but if it’s not in the script.. then, well. And honestly, I’ve met so many people in film that just hang up the phone. Maybe writers just forget.
Obviously Empty Bags - a lot of times props / costumes fills them with paper to make them look full. Like they do in stores. But they aren’t going to put weight in them because the actor has to hold them. Some actors would complain. The ones that don’t you don’t want to make their arms hurt by holding a heavy bag all day.
Barely touched food - Food = props nightmare. They tell BG to not really eat because they would need resets of everything. You want 18 extra plates of food wasted? And actors usually avoid eating on camera when possible because 3 bites in a take, 4 takes = 12 bites. Now we do 4 angles? That’s a lot of food to eat in one sitting. And maybe we do multiple food scenes in a day.
Apartments too expensive - Likely it’s the production going BUT IT NEEDS TO BE PRETTY. Because well, it does. Plus shooting in a small place is awful. So you want somewhere that you’re shooting a lot (like your main character’s apartment) to be big enough to work in. And this is film, a lot of times someone points something out and the creatives say “I don’t care. I want it this way”
Job you never see - this is the same thing as saying you never see characters going to the bathroom. There’s a story to tell in limited time. You only put what is crucial to the story / interesting on screen.
Million Pillows - Well that’s a set dec choice. But they want to make things look good. Again, some higher up saying: IT NEEDS TO BE PRETTY
Clear Counters - Everything you see needs to be bought. So sometimes they don’t want to spend the money. Sometimes they don’t want to deal with the continuity. A lot of times it’s just easier.
Three cheers for these guys [x]
This is how to be a good ally.
Using their Bro-ness for good, not evil
So a tiny story: on Black Friday a few weeks ago I went to Gamestop to buy my brother a game for Christmas, and I noticed this older man was watching me like a hawk. He was loitering around the front of the store without really buying anything, and every time I glanced at him out of the corner of my eye he was looking at me. I went to look at the PS4 games, and he was looking at something right behind me. I checked out the Nintendo games, and he was looking at them too. I was the only woman in the store, by the way.
By the time I got in line to pay he was loitering at the front of the store again, and I just had that feeling that he was going to try and take the game I just bought, or steal my purse, as soon as I left the store. OR, he was going to try and follow me home. And I know I don’t have to explain that terror to any woman reading this, but all I could think was that I’m in this Gamestop alone with at least twenty other men and something is about to happen. I’m beginning to freak out, to the point where I’ve just pulled my pepper spray out of my purse and into the pocket of my coat.
So there I am, next in line to pay, and there is this GIGANTIC dudebro right behind me, and I say gigantic as a 6 foot tall woman. He says, “Ma’am? Don’t be offended, but would it be alright if I walked you to your car?” and I was like “Are you serious?” and he was like “There are some weird guys in here right now. Have you noticed that guy watching you?” and then I showed the dudebro the pepper spray in my pocket and he was like “Right on. Would you still let me walk you to your car?” and I said yes.
So I paid, and waited while HE paid, and he walked me to my car. And just as I was getting in, the weird guy who’d been loitering came out of the store, saw me and my dudebro, and turned around and walked away in the opposite direction.
In short: men who recognize that women are unsafe in dark alleys, college campuses, grocery stores, gas stations and retail stores and do something about it are the kind of quality men that this world needs more of.

Fight HIV stigma by knowing the facts. HIV can only be transmitted through blood, breast milk, semen (cum) or vaginal fluids. Reblog and raise awareness!
I once had a guy on the street talk to me, I forget what about, but he started by saying “I have AIDS”. I just stood to keep listening and it stopped and thanked me for not backing away. It made me really sad that he was shocked because so many people before me have reacted like he was less human or something.
mental illness in a nutshell
literally anyone: are you ok?
me: you mean like your standards ok or my standards ok
