Fanfiction trope mash up: 60. Poorly Timed Confessions and 70. Locked in a Room for Aziraphale and Crowley?
Prompt from @likearumchocolatesouffle and @lunarmultishine
Escape and confession
"What is it Adam and Warlock wanted to do for their joint birthday?" Crowley asked Aziraphale as they lazily drove towards the Dowlings estate.
"I believe dear, that Pepper had called it an "Escape Room" when they were all discussing it at our last teatime visit. Warlock said that his parents were having a customized popup one at the party this year. " Aziraphale explained with a smile.
He was excited to see his boys again, though Adam was still fresh to the idea of him and Crowley, he was not adverse to Warlock being basically his parent-trapped brother. And where Warlock went so did he and Crowley.
"I mean that sounds less fun than the last year's birthday entertainment." Crowley said smiling as he drove them through the gates of the familiar estate.
"Oh, no, I was a rubbish magician, though if I had the proper stage setup I would have thoroughly been able to entertain." Aziraphale said with a wistful note to his voice.
Crowley brought Aziraphale's plump hand, which he had been holding, to his lips and kissed his knuckles.
"You thoroughly entertained me." He said between knuckle kisses.
Aziraphale blushed and smiled.
"Place seems to have gone a bit to hell since we've been gone." Crowley noted as he parked the Bentley and unlatched his seatbelt.
"Oh, the petunias I planted are gone." Aziraphale said woefully looking towards the flower bed that was near the hedges as he climbed out of the car.
"Petunias are a gaudy flower anyway." Crowley said with a hand wave.
Aziraphale gave a derisive snort and fell in step with Crowley, reaching silently for his hand.
"Nanny! Bro Fran! You made it!" Warlock shouted from across the yard, sprinting towards the pair.
"I do detest that nickname." Aziraphale whispered to Crowley, noticing Adam, Pepper, Brian, Wenslydale, and Dog racing towards them as well.
"I wonder how that got into his head." Crowley said, hiding a smirk.
Warlock reached them first and tried to give them a simultaneous hug, but his arms being thr length of a twelve year olds, was unable to get both godfathers in his embrace.
"Here Warlock!" Adam exclaimed breathlessly, he took one of Warlock's hands and made a hug extension with his other arm.
"Adam quit hogging the space!" Pepper balked grabbing Adam's other free hand.
"Actually Pepper, Adam wasn't hogging the space, he was merely crowding the supernatural entities." Wensleydale said grabbing Pepper's free hand.
"Hey guys, we can't wait for you to try the escape room." Brian said grabbing Wensleydale's free hand and Warlock's free hand.
Together they formed a circle and tightly squeezed into Aziraphale and Crowley giving them a group hug for the record book.
Dog races around the circle barking joyfully. He was always happy to see Crowley, who always snuck him treats.
Crowley ruffled all the kids hair and snuck Dog a strip of bacon he had shoved in his pocket at breakfast as Aziraphale greeted each child with long winded hellos and good tidings.
"Kids! The escape room is ready!" Harriet Dowling called from the front of the house waving.
The kids cheered and raced to the front of the house, Dog trailing behind them nipping at Brian's heels.
"I'm so very glad the children warmed up to us after the little incident at the airbase." Aziraphale said as he fondly watched the children run ahead.
"By little incident you mean the Apocalypse?" Crowley asked barking a laugh and wrapping an arm around Aziraphale's shoulders as they walked.
"The Notpocolypse I believe is the term the children are using nowadays." Aziraphale said smiling at his counterpart.
The pair caught up with the children as they gathered into the doorway.
The entirety of the Dowlings downstairs guest bedroom had been turned into an Escape Room by a new company in the party business called Use the Clues.
"Not a very clever name. Nothing like Oscar Wilde would've wrote" Crowley whispered with a chuckle in Aziraphale's ear.
"Uh don't mention that ghastly man's name. You'll make me lose my scone and tea." Aziraphale said with a grimace.
"Honestly the man just lamented his undying love for you in his works and you snub him like a dirty nappy." Crowley said trying not to tear up with laughter.
"I only have eyes for one dearest, always have and always will." Aziraphale said giving Crowley a surprise peck on the cheek.
"Thousands of eyes." Crowley murmured turning his face and kissing the corner of Aziraphale's mouth.
"I think we 'ave ow first volunteers." The employee from Use the Clues said with a cross turn of the mouth and a cockney accent staring at Aziraphale and Crowley.
"This'll be easy, like that game on the telly angel. We'll be done in five minutes tops." Crowley said confidently swaggering to the open door of the dark room.
Aziraphale followed close behind giving a sheepish smile to the employee.
The group of children watched excitedly as the timer for the game started, the door shut behind the pair, and the lights were turned on.
Aziraphale blinked several times before being able to take in everything surrounding them.
And then he turned and tugged at the doorknob.
"Hello, um, we need to be let out immediately please." He said in a forced calm voice.
"Sorry can't come out til your minutes are up or you Use the Clues. Woulda knowed that if youd been listenin wouldn't ya?" She said through the door with a edge to her voice.
Aziraphale looked over his shoulder, saw Crowley examining things closely, lifting up his sunglasses to get a better look, and shuddered.
"My dear woman! We need let out immediately!" Aziraphale said somewhat frantically.
"Angel, what in heavens name is going on with you?" Crowley asked concerned, his lips pouting out slightly at thinking something was wrong with his dear angel.
Aziraphale exhaled and tugged at his coat.
"Nothing dear, nothing." He said primly.
Crowley, not understanding what the undercurrent of Aziraphale's tone said, "Come help me with this, box thingy then, here I'll bring it to you. I think it has a clue in it." Crowley said walking over resting a cheek on Aziraphale's shoulder holding up a small blue box with a yellow star and red lever on the side.
Aziraphale kept his eyes on the box and turned the lever, an unfamiliar tune came from the box, Aziraphale continued to turn the lever in circles.
Then a section of the box popped open and a small clown popped out.
Aziraphale gave out a cry and turned away burying his face in Crowley's chest.
"Angel?! What the bloody hell is wrong with you?" Crowley exclaimed in surprise.
He tossed the offending Jack-in-the-box aside and wrapped his long spindly arms around his upset round angel.
"Oh Crowley, I'm sorry, this is frightfully embarrassing !" Aziraphale's muffled voice cried from Crowley's tshirt.
Crowley ran his hands from Aziraphale's golden curls to his soft neck to his broad back.
"Angel, you can tell me. What is wrong?" Ceowley murmured gently, soothingly.
Aziraphale took in a ragged breath and pulled himself away from Crowley's chest.
"I, I'm, oh this is so embarrassing. Crowley, I am afraid of clowns." Aziraphale said, keeping his eyes on Crowley's making sure they didnt stray to the room full of clowns that they were locked in.
Crowley's lip twitched, but he maintained his composure to comfort Aziraphale, he rested each hand on the Angel's plump shoulders.
"Angel, weren't you a mime when we lived in Paris?" Crowley asked trying not to break his somber facade and crack a smile.
Aziraphale stiffened and his lips twisted into a prim little pursed shape.
"Mimes are completely different from, clowns." Aziraphale stated tartly.
"Right, of course, of course." Crowley said one hand gesturing in the air.
"I can barely be near any, or have them in sight, they frighten me so much." Aziraphale said, clenching his eyes closed and gripping and ungripping Crowley's shirt.
"Okay angel, okay. Shhh." Crowley said pulling Aziraphale to his chest, getting lost a moment in all the softness that was pressed against him.
With one arm wrapped around Aziraphale, with the other hand he knocked on the door beside them.
"Eh?" The lady called.
"Miss, we would like to get out now please." Crowley said gently.
"You got five more minutes before the lock is up. I cant unlock it before then." She called back.
Aziraphale moaned in Crowley's shirt, and Crowley's lips curled in a snarl.
He wrapped the other arm around Aziraphale tightly pulling him closer, letting him bury his plump face in his narrow chest.
"Angel, remember that song we used to sing Warlock when he was a baby?" Crowley asked thinking of something.
"Which one?" Aziraphale bemoaned into Crowley's chest.
Crowley smiled, "The Doris Day one." He said softly.
"I don't think so." Aziraphale answered, his voice muffled.
Crowley leaned so his mouth was near Aziraphale's ear and he constricted him tightly.
"I love you, a bushel and a peck, a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck." Crowley sang gently giving Aziraphale an extra squeeze.
Aziraphale looked up at hin with a small smile and watery eyes.
"A hug around the neck." Aziraphale sang back.
"And a barrel and a heap." Crowley sang grinning.
"Barrel and a heap." Aziraphale repeated.
"And I'm talking in my sleep about you." They sang together.
Crowley searched Aziraphale's face for any other sense of fear, and then when he noted all the traces were gone from his blue eyes, he slid his hands up to the aides of Aziraphale's face.
Crowley thumbed the Angel's plump cheeks, and the crease on the side of his neck where his double chin began, Crowley smiled and leaned forward and kissed Aziraphale gently on the lips.
Aziraphale stood on his tiptoes leaning up, wrapping his large wide arms around Crowley's thin frame and pulling him closer.
All sense of fear gone while he was so close to his beloved.
All of time stopped, as they lingered locked together at the lips.
A loud click announced the end of their turn in the escape room but they didnt pay any kind to the doors opening, just each other and the way they felt and tastes mingled together.
The children's voices choruses of "ew!" Filled the air until they broke apart, and all but sprinted out of the room.
