hey! i saw your tumblr when i was searching through the "patches" tag and i'm wondering if you could tell me how you made them. i really want to make some patches out of my photos but i don't know where to start. i searched on google and didn't really find what i was looking for, but i really like your patches,,,so i'm curious.. thank you!!
Hi, if you’re wanting to make patches out of photos I recommend purchasing some t-shirt transfer paper. I think it’s pretty commonly available, and you just put it in your home printer, print your stuff on it and then iron it on to some fabric.
I make patches using stencils which I hand cut with a knife out of plastic projector sheets, and then screen print my designs with a silk screen and fabric paint/screen ink, after then I heat set it. This is good for the style of patches I make, but it’s very hard to get very detailed work and if you’re wanting to recreate photographs I don’t recommend it, as I don’t think it will have the right look or be able to achieve what you’re after.
