Thanks. My kid makes me happy. I'm sure I'll figure out the money issues.
My daughter had a birthday last weekend. We had the party at my mom's house. It was awesome.
OH BABY
Warnings slight description of birth and cursing
May 14th, 2018
I took my brother Jack out for lunch and a movie for his birthday, and as we're about to go into the theater my phone rang, and I motioned Jack to wait
" hey mom whats up"
" April's in labor"
" What"
"We're on our way to the hospital. You and Jack can meet us thier"
" Alright, we will"
" Alright, hun see you soon"
" Tell April I love her and I'll see you soon"
After that she hung up and I looked at jack
" what's wrong"
" Jackie bud we gotta go"
" What why"
" Aprils in labor"
" oh"
" Right now, we gotta go but I promise you that I'll make it up to you"
" Alright" he said I knew he was upset he just didn't wanna show it
Once we're at the hospital, Jack went to the waiting room with dad, quinn, and Luke, and I went to find april and mom
Once I found the room I walked in
" I'm here did you call your family" I asked
" yea my brother and mom are on their way" she said
" Alright"
2 hours later
It's been two hours, and it's finally time for april to deliver our baby, and she has been pushing for almost 7 minutes
" josh, i fucking hate you right now"
" I would laugh right now, but you're in pain. Also, my hand is in severe pain"
I heard one of the nurses chuckle
" Alright, your almost thier I can see baby's head"
After three pushes, we heard a baby's cries our baby girl. I couldn't stop myself from crying as I watched our baby girl be laid on April's chest.
" Oh my god, josh, she's so perfect"
" yea she is" I said as I leaned down kissing April's head
After a few minutes our baby was taken to get cleaned up
" josh"
" yea babe"
" Go get jack "
" ril, you're tired" I said
" And it's his birthday he should be the first to meet T" she said
" Alright I'll go get him" I said as I kissed her forehead and walked to the waiting room
" So, do we have a baby?" mom asked. I smiled, nodding
" yea our baby girls here, but April asked for Jack,"
" Why me"
" we have surprise"
He nodded as he got up when we walked in, I noticed that the nurse had brought taytum in. She was cradled into April's chest, luckily not feeding.
" jack comere" april said, motioning him over
He slowly walked over and sat on the bed
" So before we let you hold her, do you wanna know her name" April asked jack nodded and april looked at me
" her name is Taytum Jacklyn Hughes"
" Jacklyn, you named her after me"
" Well, her name was originally gonna be taytum rose, but since it's your birthday, and she decided she wanted to share with her uncle, so I thought it was fitting" april said
" This is the best birthday present ever. Can I hold her now?" He asked, and april nodded, carefully handing her to me as Jack moved to the chair. Once he was settled, I helped him position her properly in his arms
"Happy birthday to us, TJ"

I went on a date last Thursday!
I met a woman on a dating site named Jennifer. We chatted some, exchanged numbers and went on a date.
While my conversation skills over dinner were not super smooth, I think the date went well. She said she was interested in a second date.
We both like art and museums. We will probably go to Lacma on the second date. However, her job keeps her super busy and it may be a few weeks.
I gave her a gift when we met for dinner. It was a work of art I made. Thinking about it, the piece was strangely religious for the situation. It was an odd gift for one Atheist to give to another.
I'll try to make another more personal piece for her sometime.
Raising My Child While Honoring My Single Mom
Family is everything to me. As a single dad raising my son alongside my incredible mom, who’s also a single mother, our bond runs deep. We’ve faced our share of challenges, but through it all, the love we have for each other has been the glue that keeps us strong. My mom and my son are the heart of my world, and I’m committed to doing everything I can to give them the life they truly deserve.
Being a single dad isn’t always easy, but it’s a role I wouldn’t trade for anything. My son is my light, my reason to keep going, even when things get tough. Every laugh, every milestone, every moment we share is a reminder of the incredible journey we’re on together. I want to give him a life filled with love, security, and endless opportunities. I want him to grow up knowing that, no matter what, he’s supported and deeply loved.
My mom has been my rock through everything. She’s the one who’s shown me what it means to be resilient, to face adversity head-on, and to keep going no matter what life throws at you. As a single mother herself, she’s poured so much of her strength and love into our family, always putting us first. Now, it’s my turn to make sure she knows just how much she means to me. I want her to feel appreciated, to finally have a chance to rest, and to enjoy the fruits of all her hard work and sacrifices.
I know that life can be unpredictable, and there will be times when things don’t go as planned. But I also know that the love we share is stronger than any obstacle we might face. I’m committed to protecting that love, to nurturing it, and to doing everything in my power to ensure that my mom and son feel safe, happy, and valued.
Seeing either of them hurt or struggling is my greatest fear, and I would do anything to prevent that. It’s a driving force behind everything I do—every decision, every late night, every extra effort is for them. I want to be the dad who not only provides but also inspires, who shows up every day with love, patience, and the determination to make their lives better.
As a single dad, I’ve learned that love is about more than just words—it’s about actions. It’s about being there, making sacrifices, and showing up, even on the tough days. It’s about creating a home where my son feels cherished and where my mom knows that her sacrifices were worth it. It’s about building a future where they can both thrive, supported by the unbreakable bond we share.
This journey hasn’t always been easy, but it’s filled with moments that make it all worthwhile. The smiles, the laughter, the quiet times spent together—they’re the reasons I push forward. They’re the reminders that, no matter how hard it gets, this family is worth every bit of effort.
So, here’s to my mom and my son, the two people who mean the world to me. I will continue to do everything I can to give them the life they deserve, filled with love, joy, and stability. Because at the end of the day, there’s nothing more important than family, and I’m proud to be walking this journey with them, hand in hand.
I got a cute message today from my 7 year old daughter when I got to my car.
My daughter and I live with my mom. She hurried to the school bus stop this morning but she had time to write a message on my window.
I love being a dad. This is a golden time in my life.
Also I need to get a car wash.
