I got a cute message today from my 7 year old daughter when I got to my car.

My daughter and I live with my mom. She hurried to the school bus stop this morning but she had time to write a message on my window.

I love being a dad. This is a golden time in my life.

Also I need to get a car wash.

Background Story: Once upon a time, Robert Holley met the most beautiful woman he had ever seen standing on the beach, staring at the ocean. They fell in love, got married, and had 3 beautiful children. But it was on her third pregnancy that Robert’s wife fell ill and had complications. After struggling to deliver their youngest, she pulled him in closely to whisper to him a secret. 

“My darling, I have kept something from you for so long. I t-thought... I thought that if we never took them to the water at their births, they would be like you but this one is different. I could feel it. Our new baby carries my trait. She is of the merpeople...Like I was.”

 “My love I don’t understand, you’re delirious. Let me get the docto-” She grabs his wrists and forces him back into his seat.

“No! You mustn’t leave my side before my strength fails me..” Robert was unsure whether he should believe his wife’s ramblings but he could see the light from her eyes growing more faint by the second. He grasped her hand tightly.

She continued, her voice quaking with emotion and exhaustion, “I never told you because I w-was afraid and ashamed...I abandoned m-my people to be a part of this world, the human world...Merfolk resent humans, and my desires to join them had me banished. You must protect our c-child! If anyone f-found out... I...” Robert felt her hand go limp, her eyes fluttering once more to release a single tear...Her final breath floated in the air leaving Robert with so many questions. And so much pain. But he heard his wife. The child she had given up her life for would need more attention than he was prepared for. He would make it his life’s mission to protect her, and to find out the secrets that his wife had taken with her.

Parental Struggles Prologue

Park Jimin is the CEO of PJC and the father of two twin girls Soeun and Minji. Lately he’s been struggling with being a single parent, and the being CEO of one of the largest cosmetic/modeling companies in the world. This is where Seo Minsoo comes into help an old college friend who made it big. Minsoo is Minji’ s and Soeun’s kindergarten teacher, and Jimin and Minsoo haven't seen each other in 3 years almost. "As refugee for the past 26 years, one thing I will not forget is my life as a single father, raising 5 children in the Diaspora.  I frequently ponder on my long journey to America.  When the civil war started, I fled to the Netherlands via Kenya and in 1995, I immigrated to the USA through the lottery Visa Program.  A tragedy touched my family; my wife became incapacitated with illness and disappeared. My mother-in-law who helped us raise the children died after fighting a long battle with kidney cancer. The otherwise shared role of parenting children between the ages of two and twelve years old suddenly shifted to my sole responsibility. In the early days, when the kids were young, it was challenging to cook, clean and take them to school and be at the same time the sole breadwinner -- at one point, I thought that I couldn't do it and wanted to ask my sisters to help with the children. The first three months were so excruciating; I suffered anxiety, exhaustion and sleepless nights and could not accomplish the necessary house chores such as cooking and cleaning.  Every day in the morning, I would walk the children to different schools, and around mid-day, I would have to bring them back for one hour lunch and take them back to school and in the afternoon have to walk them back home for the day. However, I realised that I have no other option but to carry on and now, I see the fruits of my hard labour. The oldest one, my 12-year-old daughter played the role of the mother whilst I was away at work. Some days she would stay at home to look after if one of the younger ones was ill and could not go to school. Other times, we would all go together everywhere. I was known as the man with the girls in the town's shopping stores. I remember one time when this American lady saw me walking inside one of the stores and asked me where my girls were. I told her that my daughters are now all grown up, and they don't want me to walk anymore with them in the streets. They completed their education and became fully functioning members of the society. As for me, I found love again and married in 2013."
