Dear Solana [ Kate and Solana ]
I hope this day finds you well. I must admit, writing letters to one so gifted in the art of writing, them self is proving to be quite daunting a task but I shall do my best to articulate my thoughts. I’ve just finished writing my letter to my younger sister, who was more than excited to hear how her older sibling was faring at her new school. Matching her excitement was also proving difficult in its own way.
Enough of that, I suppose you want to hear how my first day went. The answer is...not quite as pleasant as I’d like. Or rather, I’m still trying to wrap my head around what happened. Well perhaps I should start from the top. As you can assume, my final test, went quite well. Like all other previous entrance exams, I passed ‘with flying colors’ as my teacher said. No surprise there. That’s enough stalling. I should just tell you what happened.
Someone from my new class, Keith, I believe his name was, challenged me to a capturing contest...and I lost. I can hardly believe it still. I can’t even remember the last time I lost to someone let alone someone like him. A fluke, perhaps? Yet, I can’t help wondering if, just maybe, there was more to him than I initially thought. I suppose only time will tell
I also found quite an interesting acquaintance. I’ll withhold final judgement, but for now all I’ll say is she seems to be a kind girl and I appreciate her presence.
Over all I seem to be adjusting well enough. The library's material is extensive and the practice area is sure to be a place of interest. Which is honestly all I need to be happy at a school. I’ll speak to you again soon. I hope to hear back about that new transfer into your base.
Ps. I apologize for this, I just can’t stop thinking about that contest. I’ve failed before, yet I can’t say I’ve ever felt this way. Ever since I lost all I’ve wanted to do is practice. Practice until my hand goes numb so I can show that know-it-all. The thought has been consuming me all night, to the point where I want to practice right now despite the hour of the night. I think I’ll do just that to satisfy myself.
Pps It seems I’ve treated this more like a diary than a letter. I suppose I had more on my mind than I first realized
