as a followup, how do you feel about basing concentration checks on constitution vs on spellcasting stat (like in pathfinder)?
I actually enjoy both given their uses in the system, so it is super hard to compare them! Concentration in Pathfinder is your ability to cast a spell in the face of danger or distraction. The more adept you are in your magic, the better you are at it! Concentration in 5e is more about sustaining spells while inflicted with bodily harm! The heartier you are, the better you can shrug off damage! In their respective uses, it would be a bit silly to swap to the other one (and 5e concentration is definitely needed to stay the way it does to give an edge to the sorcerer, who is the king of concentration and spell sustaining!) As for which approach I prefer, I think I prefer the Pathfinder approach! It added a sense of danger to magic, and allowed for effective counterspelling by martials if played correctly! Plus, I’m a sucker for sustaining as many spells as I can, which 5e’s Concentration system was built to avoid.
i would love!! to know what any of your ocs would think of mireille. also, <3 for your stress!!
Thank you! <3
Emma on Mireille:
“In the past, I admit I have invariably found a Circle’s Tranquil to be far preferable company to its mages, but Mireille is a bit of an exception. She speaks with an eagerness to continue learning rather than an air of one who believes they have learned enough. That is not to say she is not herself knowledgeable in her craft; she is, quite so, and quite capable in combat as well. While there is much I can do with magic that she cannot, there is also much she can do that I cannot. Even should we never master each other’s techniques, we will at least learn the theory behind it, and come away from our conversation with more than we had when it began. I do not understand this...strange need of hers to keep track of my sleep habits and inquire after the whereabouts of my tea sachets, however, and Lux made an odd comment to me recently about having ‘two of you’ now that I can only assume refers to her, somehow, as well.”

hmmmmm... how about sparring kink??
Yes, please, esp. if it ends with one party pressing the other against wall/ground while panting heavily. I gotta go with a minimum of 9/10 for that one. Total foreplay in my mind :D
wip wednesday!!! hmm. blade, slight, grey?
Thank you for asking! ♥
Blade - I don’t have blade, but I have bladed (from Wallflower)
She pulled her staff from her back, intent on using the bladed end to spear through the miserable excuse for a person- but Cassandra stopped her.
Slight - I don’t have slight, but I do have slightly (from A Whole New World)
Her eyes briefly met Solas’ - who ever-so-slightly shook his head no.
Grey (from The Long Road Home)
“Another apostate,” the other grey warden behind Selene groaned in dismay. “Great. Just great.”
WIP wednesday, ask me stuff
9 10 11 and 13 for the writer asks? :3
thank you, my dear!! <3
9) what, if anything, do you do for inspiration?
I daydream and play video games. I read a lot and that is usually inspiring if what I’m reading is not terrible. Go to art museums and watch movies. Take long walks in nature or the cemetery by my house. Go for long drives alone and listen to music.
10) write in silence or with background noise? with people or alone?
Answered - but I think you and I both like youtube playlists and long videos a lot, right? That’s typically what I listen to - just hours of chanting or drums on repeat.
11) what aspect of your writing do you think has most improved since you started writing?
...my ability to do it at all? :) There’s that. Taking everything less seriously and not getting hung up on perfection. Just putting something out there and seeing how it goes. Experimenting with ideas. Trying to forget almost everything I was taught in literary fiction classes ;)
13) your strengths as an author
I think I am good with musicality and the rhythm of words. I put a lot of effort into that. My background is in poetry, so it’s something I think about while I write. I think I get my characters’ emotions right. I have an abundance of ~~feelings~~ which comes in handy.
get to know the author

Thank you so much ^_^
Rylen and my dear Marguerite, as illustrated by the STUPENDOUS @sirinial
I don’t even know how to properly gush about this. Siri did a magical job of catching his easy affection and her skeptical, but smitten response. ALSO HEIGHT DIFFERENCE. ALSO HAIR. LOOK AT HIS SWOOPY HAIR. And their precious lil outfits. AND A FLOWER. And she got the face tattoos. AND SUBSTANTIAL NOSES.
In all seriousness, I cannot recommend @sirinial for commissions quite enough. This was my first ~official~ experience/transaction, and she’s such a talented, collaborative artist. I gave her their relationship dynamic and height differential and she did all of this. Absolutely fabulous. A pleasure to work with. Commission her ASAP.
