What can I say? It was time again to re-read "Reconcilable Differences". 😂 It is still my absolute favourite Clex story.

The fact that Kon is canonically Clark's and Lex's son was one of the best gifts DC gave us.

Something unusual this week from the depths of AO3 (made in 2006), this interesting John and Stark ode to the tortures they've endured, the prisons they exist within.

This isn't exactly an easy listen. The music is challenging, it gets a little frantic and incoherent. This is more artistic than pure fanvidding. (The song mixes two versions of "Be So Glad" by Ed Lewis and Group and North Mississippi Allstars.)

But I found it fascinating. I know Ben Browder was a big fan of Paul Goddard's work and advocated for bringing Stark back and making him a regular cast member. I remember in commentaries Ben talking about how to Stark he's the hero, or at least he wants to be the hero, not John. And there's a lot of layers to that, from the similar emotional beats both John and Stark take (captured and tortured by Scorpius, driven mad, loving and losing powerful women, being twisted by a desire for revenge or at least a need to control how vulnerable they are). This fanvid really highlights their shadow versions of each other connection, and that's interesting to think about.

Of course I have to include a link to AO3 where I found it, and definitely go over there because the vidmaker added a stream of consciousness commentary on the making of this video that added to my appreciation of it. Go read and leave a kudo or comment!

WOW this is like the definitive statement on Jiang Cheng and also makes it seem like the song was written for him and also PERFECT.
