Sister Time Cover Art by Clyde Caldwell
Saturday 14th June
Spent the day with my sisters, niece and nephew ❤️ spent some time with the horses
And Fergus my dad's goofy boy
Then went to a beer & cider festival - I was driving so only had one cider but it was a good day out! And we got glitter ✨️
Exhausted but I'm glad I went. I wasn't 100% but I had a better day than I would have if I stayed home. And we got little sis wine drunk which was hilarious 🤣
Today was my birthday. My sister called me late this morning to ask if I wanted to do lunch. We met at Perkins and had breakfast for lunch, and then a slice of pie. It was really nice to hang out and catch up.
Then I went to Kohl’s to get a new lightweight sweatshirt/jacket to have for London. The one I picked was on sale, and with my $5 birthday coupon was only $12.49!
On my way home I stopped at work to get my free birthday drink. They sang happy birthday to me at the order box (I did drive through), and wrote on my cup, which made me smile.
When I did my nightly check in on Daylio, it made me feel old by telling me how many days since I was born. Lol
All in all, not a bad day. :)
“ i thought you were gone. for good. ” — @keepslore
part of her feels like it.
as something forged in fire and grit, made of material stronger than steel, goodness is a constant battle. since her retrieval from the fade, she has felt ill-equip to don the mantle. there is an anger that sits like a cornered animal in her chest. she does not want to touch it, and it doesn’t want to bite, but any hand that comes too close sees its jaws clamp down with a punishing force.
she has always abhorred anger. it feels like a loss—like relinquishing control to something she should be stronger than.
crescentia stares ahead, her eyes twin hollows set in a sturdy oak tree, carved out and raw, gnawing at its core. although they aren’t great enough to call the tree’s integrity into question, they are deep wounds, preluding scars.
there is no retrieving the person she was before her time in the fade.
still, joy—like goodness—is forged in fire, and through fire, she must emerge again to reclaim it (burnt, certainly, blanketed in ash of the hearth, but whole).
“where is he?” she asks, after several seconds. “solas. they said he was in minrathous. what is he doing there? the shadow dragons—” crescentia does not trust his alleged partnership with them. they are just another means to an end—as she was; but she will not allow them to become collateral damage.
“he will get them killed, dhavi.”
