History had long forgotten who first built the sturdy castle that overlooked the Sea of Ghosts. Legend, however, claimed that it had been built by the order of a dragon, long before the First Age, when the beasts of the skies still ruled Nirn. The truth had long been lost to time; the forgotten castle in the north was too small for most archaeologists to bother with, and still being under private ownership, no adventurers went rummaging through its halls, either.
Settled between cold walls of local stone, the castle consisted of a large courtyard, contained by a combination of the cliff faces themselves and high stone walls. The main point of focus was a large, sturdy keep, and a massive tower that rose from its center. At the top of this tower, beneath a pointed roof, heavy with ice and snow, burned a large blue flame - for which, the castle had been named. Towering gates of solid iron, set into the stone arch of the walls, barred entry to the courtyard, and the snowy road that wound up and up through the cliffs ran to a dead-end right there.
Tarene pulled Tebi to a halt and patted her neck, then quietly - so as to not wake Tili, still sleeping upon the mare's back - started to dig into his bag. Though it took him several minutes to find, the elf eventually pulled out a large, iron key. nearly as ancient and ornate as the gates blocking their way. Tebi pawed impatiently at the ground as her rider walked up to the gates, and slowly put the key into the lock. The tumblers - ensconced within the doors themselves - 'thunked' loudly, and gravity itself began to pull the gates open. Tarene returned to Tebi and clicked his tongue, and the mare began to move forward again, already able to see the warm building of the stable beyond the gates.
The young Altmer let his steed walk past him, and stared up at the ancient fortress for a long moment. Memories were already playing before his minds eye…some happy, and some sad…..but finally, Tarene took a deep breath, and grabbed hold of the gates, pulling them shut behind him.
