One night of RiME
RIME
Developer: Tequila Works, QLOC Publisher: Grey Box, Six Foot Rrp: £29.99 (Gog.com, Humblebundle and Steam) Released: 26th May 2017 Available on: Gog.com, Humblebundle and Steam I do love a good puzzle platformer, especially if the puzzles involve a bit of lateral thinking. Rime is definitely a game that falls under that category. It must be stated though that this title deals with some very dark themes, if you are of the sensitive persuasion (or just want to keep that good mood) perhaps don't play this game.
You play as a nameless protagonist that awakes after having been washed on to the shores of a strange island. You learn more about the island and the protagonist as you run, jump, push and examine things to solve the various puzzles. Rime tells its story without the use of words. However there are two stories at work, the characters and the lore of the island. The characters story will come to light as you play through, but the worlds lore is far more difficult to work out as its all in the environment and requires more work. The platforming is... competent, Prince of Persia this is not, but then again I wasn't expecting it to be and nor is the game trying to emulate it. If I have a complaint it's that occasionally the game seems to forget to 'grab' on to ledges. Thankfully there aren't any lives of health to lose so its not a big deal.
It's clear that the development team took some inspiration from Team Ico and Journey for this game, in fact while playing I had to double check that the game was made by anyone who has worked within Team Ico (the answer was no by the way). Generally the game as a whole is well paced but I have to say that I feel that I could have done with less repetition when it came to some of the puzzles.
This game is definitely worth taking the time to play, however I feel the price point is a bit too high for what the game provides.

I don't like being tall.
I know that a lot of people are going to hate me for saying this because being tall is something they envy, but I can't stand it. I like to look people in the eye when I speak to them. I also hate looking down at anyone because I find it to be rude and disrespectful. So I slouch. It has become a serious problem for me, but making someone feel lower than me just because of my height would make me feel even worse. It's also hard to control my lengthy appendages. They kind of just go where they want and I can't tell you how many bruises I have from tripping over EVERYTHING. I also hit my head almost every time I get out of my damn car. It's considered an SUV so you would think it would have enough head space. Nope. Not for this one. But the absolute WORST part of being 6 foot something is that people find me intimidating because of it. I don't want anyone to be scared of me or to be scared to talk to me. I swear that I'm a gentle giant and only want to be friends with you. I may be big and scary looking, but I won't hurt you. I can't hurt you. I don't have any muscles and I would hope I don't have a mean bone in my body. Maybe just some mean cartilage. So, let's sum it up. I want to feel some lanky love. Tell me what you love about tall people or what you love about being tall.
