i dont know what to call this,, au? headcanon? just An idea? Yeah

basically me trying to "explain" the light fury cause she makes me Mad but she could've been Good if they just tried to explain where she even comes from so heres my funny convoluted idea

essentially: the light fury does not exist

like their distant cousin, the sand wraith, furies are split into (atleast) three subspecies; night furies, snow furies and sea furies. snow furies, like the light fury, are almost entirely white and sparkly; this helps them blend into the snow. sea furies, also like the light fury, are characterized by their slimmer shapes, smooth and untextured scales, and fins rather than spikes running down their back.

the light fury is a crossbreed between these two dragons that wouldn't typically meet in the wild, a popular trophy pet bred just for their looks and rarity by dragon trappers trying to make the most money out of them as possible. they advertise them as "purebred light furies" when in fact a "light fury" doesn't exist without irresponsible human interferance (much like how a "doodle" is just a mutt, not a breed). it has no breed/species standard, unreliable temperment, and likely health issues. they're like the doodles or double merles of the dragon world; that's why the light fury seems so unnatural compared to the majority of the other dragons within the httyd universe. she was bred to sit and look pretty; without taking into account just how aggressive furies are, how uncomfortable they get outside of their natural environments, and what the parenting dragons were made to do (aka live in snow or in water). the light fury has no natural environment and is therefore under constant stress, feeding her aggression. she can't keep herself warm in cold climates, she can't blend in anywhere else and sticks out like a sore thumb. in the movie of course she can turn herself invisible ...... i am simply going to pretend she Does not 💕 it bothers me. Dumb excuse for making something blinding white and sparkly and smooth. maybe ill think of something for that later and expand on this but this is what i have for now. i dont know i just wanted to think up something fun for her yayyy
