Just drew something for @giant-tiny-squid‘s sizeshifter!DreamXD story ^^

Are you ever gonna continue that sizeshifter!DreamXD storyline or anything?

(If not that’s ok that was just how I found your page and it’s been my favorite story since)

Maybe! Like all my older aus, it really just depends on if I get more inspiration. It’s not officially abandoned but I don’t really have any ideas for it, unfortunately. Perhaps in the future, though.

Would Dreamxd have the anatomy to nom George? Or would they even know what eating is?

(Mild body horror warning; it’s a shapeshifter and can do whatever it wants with its appearance)

:O I haven’t actually really thought of that! I’d thought about something else which is sorta a nom but not really, but I hadn’t thought about actual noms.

XD can tuck things under its cloak and pull them out from under its cloak like an inventory, and it can do the same with people. It hasn’t really done this to George yet but it has done it to Dream. I’d consider it a psuedo-nom; technically not a nom, but it serves the same purpose.

Dream takes a hesitant step back, moving under the living “fabric” of XD’s cloak. It lets out a quiet hum and starts to lower the cloak, making him flinch. Then limbs curl around him, dragging him further under, and suddenly he’s floating in the void.

At least, that’s what it looks like. He’s surrounded by darkness and stars, but it feels like there’s something wrapped around him, holding him close and keeping him from drifting off. It’s almost like he’s bundled up in a blanket.

It’s chilly, and there’s the ominous feeling of being seen, and he can’t tell if that’s the outline of something in the distance or not, but it’s. . .actually not that bad. It feels almost comforting, to be so far away from everyone else.

Except he’s not alone, because he’s definitely being held, even if he can’t actually see it. He tries to call out a thank you to XD but can’t speak, so he just closes his eyes and lets his mind wander.

XD normally does not have the anatomy to actually nom anyone; it doesn’t usually have a mouth, and it doesn’t even fully understand the purpose of a mouth. But it can grow mouths if it wants to and it will start doing so. It would put things and people into the same space the cloak takes them unless it purposefully creates a new storage space, which it could but probably wouldn’t feel the need to.

It’s also just confused by human anatomy in general lol especially how fragile humans seem to be and how much trouble they have storing and carrying things. Their inventory is tiny compared to its, and they can’t carry living things like it can.

Hide! XD flies right up to George’s face; George opens his mouth to ask it to teleport away or something, and it nearly chokes him as it shrinks down a bit smaller and darts into his mouth. He sputters and spits it out, clamping his mouth shut when it tries to reenter. George! Let XD hide!

“Wha- you can’t hide in my mouth!” George blurts out, gently pushing it away. “Go somewhere else, or just teleport away!”

Want to stay with you! It circles him, poking his mouth with a limb. Open! Store XD! Let XD hide in your face-pocket!

“It’s a mouth.” George curls his fingers around it, guiding it to his actual pocket. “Not a pocket. I need to use it to talk, you can’t hide in it.”

Oh. XD quietly hums, then enters his pocket. You use it to store food, though?

“Eating, not storing. I’ll explain later.” George covers his pocket with a hand, encouraging it to sit still. “Hush. If Sam notices you he won’t let me into the prison, so just be quiet and go invisible or something.”

XD does frequently shapeshift, and whenever it learns about a new thing it will often try to mimic that thing. For example, when it first met Bad it experimented with having its eyes white instead of green, and when it learned more about hands it started to have hands instead of more tentacle-like limbs. So when it starts learning about mouths, it experiments with mouths, although it rarely puts them on its “face” because of the mask.

George adjusts his weight, sitting more comfortable in the palm of XD’s hand. It pokes him with a finger to make sure he’s not about to fall off before heading down into the giant ravine.

Before it can lower him to the ground, George blurts out a startled exclamation and twists around, pulling a bunch of blocks out of his inventory.

“Oh, wait, can you carry these?” He asks, holding them out. XD scoops them up in its other hand without question. “I need to keep some room in my bag for new stuff. Thanks!”

It curls its fingers around the stuff, and then suddenly an opening appears on its hand. . .a hole? George squints, before realizing that’s a mouth on its palm. Fanged and could barely be considered a mouth at all, but that’s what it has to be.

XD uses its fingers to nudge all the items into the “mouth,” and they quickly disappear. Its void-black skin starts to seal over the mouth but George blurts out a wait! and reaches his arms for its hand. It blinks at him with several eyes before bringing that hand closer to him.

George stands up, moving a bit closer so he can see but not close enough that he risks falling in. Yeah, that’s definitely a mouth, big enough for him to fit in. “I thought you didn’t need to eat?”

Not eating? Storing. Like you do with food! Before George can explain that he eats food, not stores it, XD nudges him a bit closer with a finger. You can see!

“Um!” George moves away, back to the safety of the mouthless hand. He knows XD wouldn’t hurt him on purpose, but XD’s still learning a lot of things about humans. “No thank you!”

XD doesn’t seem offended by this; it just lowers its hand to the ground and lets him climb off before shrinking down and following him deeper into the ravine.

Love your Sizeshifter!DreamXD au. How do you think the very first meeting between him and george went. Was he the first human he'd seen up close.

Oooh yes I love this AU too! I actually came up with it months ago, before DreamXD really had much lore, so this AU is mostly headcanons and it doesn’t follow the canon story. I also kinda view my XD as different than the canon DreamXD; when I write DreamXD showing up in other AUs, it’s more like canon, but in this AU it’s different.

It’s not a god like DreamXD is in canon, but it’s a very powerful entity. XD has very little experience with humans; it has interacted a few times with Dream and it has mostly learned their language, but it knows very little about humans. It is also still learning about the overworld and it is very curious.

In this AU, George meets XD much earlier on, right after the war with L’Manberg but before the elections. Actually, Quackity might not have even joined the server at this point. 

(If the enchanting table language is incorrect or misspelled, please blame the translator I used lol also I’m totally making up what the language sounds like. Feel free to translate it if you want, but it’s not necessary to.)

It’s starting to get dark.

George sighs, staring up at the dark oak leaves above him as he fights the urge to close his eyes and just go to sleep right here. Yes, the giant mushroom is surprisingly comfy, but he really should climb down to the ground and make his way back home before mobs start to spawn.

He’s never wandered this far before; actually, he doesn’t know if anyone has been here before. Well, maybe Dream, because Dream often spends days at a time exploring this world. Everyone else, on the other hand, usually just searches the open plains for villages and leaves dark forests like these completely untouched.

He sits up, stretching his arms over his head and letting out a yawn before pushing his goggles up and rubbing at his eyes. He’s exhausted from today; the argument, the whole “running off into the woods” thing, the. . .

Oh, right. The argument.

I’m not changing my mind. Dream and Sapnap are both IDIOTS, and they’re taking all this too seriously.

It’s a war over a tiny piece of land and some music discs, and we technically WON. But now Dream’s being, well, DREAM, and Sapnap’s busy killing people’s pets or something.

Can’t we just go back to how it was before all this chaos? Pranks and messing around with each other, not wars?

George pulls his goggles back down, moving over to the edge of the mushroom as he searches for the vines he’d climbed up to reach the top.

Something moves in the distance.

George stiffens, staring deeper into the shadowy forest as he tries to figure out what he’s seeing. After a second, he takes a shaky step back because it’s coming closer.

It’s hard to make out--he isn’t even sure if it’s fully solid, if he’s being honest, and the shadows almost seem to cling to its form--but it’s definitely nearly as tall as the trees it’s lurking behind.

George slowly reaches down, picking up his shield. The being drifts closer; it doesn’t have any legs, but several clawed limbs slip out from beneath its cloak,

Each of those claws are almost as long as he is tall. His shield won’t do anything to protect him from them, and if he’s being honest, his iron armor will probably be useless as well.

The being has no face, just an endless black void under its hood where its face should be. Several eyes appear, floating in the void of its face and studying him just as intently as he’s studying it.

George considers pulling out his bow, but it’s close enough that he doubts he’d be able to fire before it tore him apart, and that’s assuming he’d even be able to hurt it in the first place.

It blinks with all of its eyes, then rests a clawed hand on the edge of the mushroom as it leans a bit closer. 

∴⍑𝙹 ᔑ∷ᒷ ||𝙹⚍? It asks. George flinches, because the words sound like they’re coming from inside his own brain. ᒷ ̇/!¡ꖎᔑ╎リ.

George knows of this language, but he only knows a couple of words, and this being speaks too quickly for him to pick out any. He finds himself desperately wishing that Dream or Bad were here, because they both are rather fluent in this language.

He stammers out a greeting in this language, probably completely butchering the words, but that seems to catch its attention because it leans forward again. He lifts up his shield as he inches back and it reaches for him with a limb, easily plucking the shield out of his grip and tossing it to the side.

Fuck.

“Wait, hold on,” George blurts out, holding up his hands. “I- I don’t understand what you’re asking.”

It squints at him, and then it shrinks, now only a bit taller than an enderman as it hovers by the edge of the mushroom.

Does it understand my language? Or maybe it at least understands that I don’t want any trouble?

He backs up again and it follows, never letting him get more than two blocks away. He’s forced to stop when he reaches the edge of the mushroom; he has no water bucket to break his fall, and it’s too high of a drop to make without getting injured.

“Are these your woods?” George asks. “Am I, uh, trespassing? I’ll leave.”

Some of its. . .tentacles? Limbs? Whatever they are, they twist and become two legs, allowing it to actually stand instead of just hovering. It’s still at least three blocks tall.

Who are you? It says, and George blinks. The words don’t sound natural, but he can actually understand it now, so he takes that as a small victory.

“Um...I’m not really anybody.” He eventually says, not sure if it’s a good idea to give it his name. “And I’ll leave. I wasn’t trying to bother you, I didn’t know you were here.”

It steps closer, and there’s nowhere to go, so he grits his teeth as he waits for it to shove him or claw him or something.

He’s a good fighter, but he’s better at long-range, and he doesn’t think he’d have time to pull his sword out and hit it. It doesn’t even seem fully solid, so a sword might not even do anything.

You’ll leave? It asks. George quickly nods. ℸ ̣ ⍑ᒷ ⍑⚍ᒲᔑリ ᓭ⍑𝙹⚍ꖎ↸ ᓭℸ ̣ ᔑ||, ᓭᒷᒷᒲᓭ ╎リℸ ̣ ᒷ∷ᒷᓭℸ ̣ ╎リ⊣.

George swallows. “I don’t know what that means. Um, okay...I’ll go?”

He takes a step to the side, glancing over to the tangled vines he’d used to climb up. It grabs his arm and he freezes.

No, you’re here now. It says, head tilting to the side. There’s something growing over its face , poking out from underneath its hood as the shadows shift, but he isn’t sure what. So you stay.

“Uh...” George tugs on his arm. When he tries to grab onto its wrist, his fingers sink into its ‘skin.’ “No, no, I’m gonna go. It’s gonna be dark soon, don’t wanna bother you.”

Dark? Its face is halfway covered and holy shit, that’s a mask. That matters?

“Yep!” George squeaks, tugging on his arm again. It lets go this time, but it’s more like his arm slips through theirs. “So I need to go!”

But you won’t ever come back. It tilts its head to the side, eyes squinting at him behind the mask growing over the void of its face. ℸ ̣ ⍑ᒷ ꖎ╎ℸ ̣ ℸ ̣ ꖎᒷ ⍑⚍ᒲᔑリᓭ リᒷ⍊ᒷ∷ ᓵ𝙹ᒲᒷ ʖᔑᓵꖌ.

George shakes his head again. “Nope! Don’t worry, I’ll stay out of your woods! I won’t come back if you want me to stay out.”

Yeah, these woods are cool, but they’re DEFINITELY not worth the risk of pissing this powerful being off. I am NOT prepared for this fight.

It bristles, several spider-like limbs growing from its cloak. No. Dark?

“I don’t know what you mean.” George says.

Dark matters? Explain. The mask is fully covering its face now, but it’s a perfectly blank white mask with no eye holes or markings. Curious. Dark matters?

“Yeah? It’s dark. I won’t be able to see when it’s dark.” George takes another careful step to the side. “And mobs spawn.”

It flickers, cloak slowly changing color from shadowy black to...yellow, maybe? Then a limb that’s some strange mix between human and insect stretches out from beneath its cloak and taps the mushroom. A small fire starts there and doesn’t go out, which doesn’t make any sense. It should have gone out after just a few seconds.

Not dark. It says, letting the flames lick at its clawed fingers. Stay here. Explain more.

“Explain what?” George asks, shooting a nervous glance towards the sky. The sun’s about to set. “And I really do need to go so I can get back before it turns night. Just because it’s light here doesn’t mean it’ll be light everywhere else.”

Stay. The eyes not covered by the mask squint at him. Explain more. Why do mobs spawning matter to you?

“They’re dangerous.” Just like you might be. George moves around it, closer to the vines. “Do they not attack you?”

Is it a mob, then? Not like me? I mean, I KNOW it’s not like me. But mobs still attack Bad, and he isn’t human.

Just kill the mobs. It says. Unspawn them. ℸ ̣⍑ᒷ|| ᔑ∷ᒷ ∴ᒷᔑꖌ

“It’s not that easy,” George mutters. “I do kill them. But they can also kill me, if I’m not careful.”

You are easy to kill? It reaches for him and he jerks back, but it doesn’t stop until it pokes his chest a few times with a clawed finger. How easy?

George pales, leaning away. His foot slips off the edge of the mushroom, but the being hooks a long limb around him and pulls him back onto the mushroom before he can fall.

The limb disappears underneath its cloak but it quickly reaches forward with another, poking at his arms. Like a dolphin?

“Um. . .I’m harder to kill than a dolphin,” George whispers, pulling his arms away. “I, uh, I’m very hard to kill. And I’ll leave. So you don’t need to kill me.”

Mobs can kill you, mobs are hard for you to kill. So you cannot be hard to kill. But mobs are EASY to kill? The fire still hasn’t gone out. It is very close to him, even though it isn’t touching him. Just kill them? Not hard.

“I do kill them, and they aren’t hard for me to kill unless there’s a lot of them.” George looks at the vines, but he’s nervous about climbing down while it’s still close enough to grab him. “And it’s getting dark, so...I’m gonna go now.”

It just stands there. He climbs down the vines as quickly as he can manage, trying to ignore the being as it watches him. Once he reaches the ground, he looks up and flinches when it changes and becomes a lot more like a spider, its extra limbs helping it climb off the mushroom and drop down next to him before returning to how it looked a minute ago.

George backs away, arms coming up instinctively, but it doesn’t make any moves to attack him. When he starts to walk in the direction he’s pretty sure home is, it follows.

After a minute, he shivers, glancing back over his shoulder. It’s still right there. 

“Goodbye,” he repeats, hoping that it gets the message. I’m leaving, you don’t need to follow me to make sure I leave your woods.

It moves in front of him, gliding backwards across the forest floor. Hello.

George squints. “Uh, hello?”

Mobs. Its limbs twitch underneath its cloak. Explain their danger? Are you a mob? You die like they do?

What am I supposed to SAY? George leans away. “No, I’m not a mob.”

Based on the way it’s talking about mobs, it’s not one. So what is it? Is it looking for an easy target, or making sure I’m not a threat? What are the right answers here?

Should I act tough, so it doesn’t want to risk attacking me? Or weak, so it doesn’t feel threatened somehow?

Curious. Can you not just kill them? With your limbs? It pokes several limbs out from its cloak, using one to reach for George’s arm and another grabbing at his sword. With this? Little green could.

George lets out a startled sound, but it doesn’t release him until it’s done studying him. It then hovers in front of him, clearly waiting for an answer.

“I can kill them with my sword, yes. And my bow.” George slowly reaches for his bow, watching its reaction carefully.

It doesn’t stop him, just watches as he pulls out his bow. When he pulls on the string, testing it, it reaches for the bow and tugs it out of his hands.

He yelps, reaching for the bow, and it lets him grab onto it but doesn’t let him take it back. It holds onto the bow with one hand and grows several little insect limbs from its arm, using those to pluck the string of the bow a few times.

Like a skeleton. It plucks the bow a few more times, then lets him take it back. You can use it well?

“Yes, I’m really good with a bow.” George can’t help the smug grin that slips onto his face. “Much better than a skeleton.”

Its extra limbs retract and it tilts its head. It has one hole on its mask now, like a left eyehole, but it’s oddly shaped and not quite even. Show, explain.

“Okay?” George slowly loads an arrow, aiming it at a nearby giant mushroom and trying to ignore the being as it drifts behind him to watch over his shoulder.

He takes a few breaths and fires, hitting one of the white spots almost perfectly in the center. He’s about to turn around to see the being’s reaction when limbs suddenly wrap around him, one of them easily tugging the bow out of his hands.

The being holds the bow, rotating it and studying it and pulling on the string. It keeps a limb loosely draped over his shoulder and George stays completely still, hardly daring to breathe. 

Is it curious? I think it’s curious, but maybe it thinks I’m a threat? Is it going to kill me?

The limb pulls him a bit closer and he whimpers, squeezing his eyes shut. He jumps when it shoves the bow into his hands. Explain.

“Explain...explain h-how I use the bow?” He asks. “It’s the same as when a skeleton uses a bow? Not really any different.”

You made it go right where you wanted it to. Skeletons are bad at that. It hands him an arrow. Is that one of my arrows? I didn’t feel it take one. Where did it get the arrow? Explain. Curious.

“I aimed?” George lifts up the bow; it lets him go, but it’s still way too close as it looms over him and studies his movements. “I can choose where to shoot. Skeletons aren’t smart enough for that, they just shoot almost randomly.”

He pulls the string back; his elbow bumps against it and he freezes, but it doesn’t seem to care. “I don’t really know how to explain aiming. . .but I choose where to shoot? I think about how much the arrow will drop after I fire, then aim higher to make up for that. Then I shoot.”

George shoots, hits pretty close to the first arrow. He decides it’s not worth retrieving them. I REALLY need to go. “There you go, I explained it. Goodbye.”

He starts walking again. It doesn’t grab him, but it’s still following him.

Maybe it’s bored? It keeps saying it’s curious. 

It. . .doesn’t seem like it means any harm, hopefully, aside from the general spookiness and the fact that it asked how easy it would be to kill me.

George frowns. He doesn’t exactly want it following him back, because it’s definitely still dangerous, even if it’s not aggressive. He doesn’t want to put anyone in danger.

“Uh...I’m going to my home. You stay in your home. Okay?” George points deeper into the woods. “Stay here.”

Not home. It looks like it’s taller again. It has a second eyehole now, but this one’s all messed up, practically crossed-out. More like someone carved an ‘x’ into its mask with a knife or something. ⍑⚍ᒲᔑリᓭ ⍑ᔑ⍊ᒷ リᒷ⍊ᒷ∷ ᓭᒷᒷリ ⍑𝙹ᒲᒷ. Curious about your home, want to see.

"Um. . .sorry, you can't come to my home." George shakes his head, moving away when it drifts closer. "No, no, you need to stay. Stop following me."

Want to explore, to learn. Curious about this world. Curious about you. It grabs onto his wrist, its limb suddenly way too long. Show? Explain? Stay? Can give you things.

George pulls his arm free, taking another step away. "I don't- what? Explain what? And what do you mean when you say you can give me things?"

Can give you many things. Look! Its cloak rustles; a limb reaches out, holding dozens of arrows in its claws. Look! For you!

George hesitantly reaches for them. Unlike his arrows, which are often made in a hurry, these ones are perfectly crafted. "Where did you get these?"

Got them. Out comes another limb, holding a bow. A third limb reaches out and starts a small fire on the ground, lighting up the slowly darkening clearing. Bow? Do you want another bow?

"Um. . .I don't need another one." The limb curls around the bow, crushing it and snapping it in half as it retreats back underneath its cloak. "But really, where did you get these?"

Got them. It repeats, moving closer. Show your home? Will give you things for your home!

George nearly takes it up on its offer, but he hesitates. "I- you can't. I don't think that's a good idea."

Other people will DEFINITELY be scared of it. It doesn't seem aggressive, but. . .it's too risky. Can't risk it lashing out at someone.

Maybe in the future. Maybe I can bring some of my friends over to meet it? If I decide to come back, of course.

Bad probably wouldn't provoke it. Dream. . .hopefully wouldn't, unless it threatened one of us. Sapnap’s probably a bad idea for now.

Okay, then you stay. It moves around to block his path, limbs coming out and gently pushing him back. This isn’t home, but! Can still show and give you things here!

George shakes his head again, stepping around it. "No, I can't stay. Goodbye. I have to get back before it gets-"

Lava appears, right in front of him. He shrieks and leaps back, just barely avoiding sticking his foot into it, and it disappears so quickly he almost wonders if he imagined it.

Stay. Look, see? Stuff! It holds out a handful of lava, ‘skin’ sizzling and dripping before turning to vapor and reforming. You stay.

“Oh my god.” George rubs at his chestplate with a hand, feeling like it’s too tight all of a sudden as he struggles to catch his breath. “Don’t do that! That could’ve been really bad.”

Okay? It offers the lava to him again. Take it now? Not dark?

“I can’t touch that.” George steps away to keep it from dripping onto his boots. “Put it away, I’ll get hurt.”

It tilts its hand, letting the lava drip through its fingers and onto the ground, where it slowly starts to cool and solidify. Hurt? Explain.

Oh dear. “Hurt? Injuries? Getting hurt can kill me.” George frowns. Does it not feel pain, then? “The lava is very hot, it would hurt me a lot.”

What hurts? Hot things hurt? It sticks its claws into the fire it had created earlier, almost playing with the flames. Fire is hot too, yes? Do cold things hurt? Is void cold? What else is cold?

“Uh...ice is cold. Water can be cold. Cold things only hurt if they’re really cold.” George swallows. “The void...I don’t really know, actually.”

I've respawned, but never actually DIED. That means I've only ever touched the void, but I’ve never actually been in it.

Sapnap hasn't been in it, and I don't think Dream has, either. Bad has, I think? But that's not something I ever asked about.

Can give you that! It grabs onto his arm, hand still slightly warm from the lava. Can show you!

Everything starts to slip away. It's vaguely like stepping into a Nether portal, except instead of feeling warm, it's just empty. All he can feel are the fingers holding onto his arm as the world starts to blur.

He screeches, shoving at the hand and trying to pull away so it can’t drag him along with it. Everything snaps back into reality and it hits him suddenly enough that his knees go weak and he has to sit down, pressing his forehead against the dirt as he gasps for air.

What? It moves closer, several insect limbs curling around his chest and lifting him up and off the ground. He shivers, clinging to its cloak because it's something solid even though he desperately wishes his feet were back on the ground. What? What? Explain! Hello?

"Don't-" He chokes out, opening his eyes and staring at the ground, several blocks below him. "I can't go there. I-It will kill me."

It sets him down, but it keeps a limb curled around his arm and he's honestly thankful for the extra support. Cold? Hurt?

"Yes, both of those." He lets out a shaky breath. "So please don't ever do that again."

Okay. No cold for you, no hurt for you, no void for you? Okay. It holds onto his arm, almost like it's holding his hand as it carefully guides him deeper into the forest. Look, look! Hot!

It has taken him to a lava pool. He squints, leaning closer, and it pushes him away from the edge before stepping in.

George stiffens, but the lava doesn't seem to bother it, even though flames start to cling to its cloak. It reaches under the lava with one hand, searching around before pulling out a handful of gravel and flint and setting it near George's feet.

Look! It pokes at the pile of gravel, seeming to almost play with it for a moment before offering it to George. Take it, take it.

George takes it. It's warm, and he's not really sure what to do with it, so he tucks it away into his inventory. The being pokes at the pouch he stuck the gravel into before getting distracted by the lava again.

It stretches a limb out from underneath its cloak, somehow pouring a large handful of water onto the lava and creating some obsidian.

George frowns. It better not be creating a Nether portal, I don't want to go there right now.

It. . .doesn’t really seem to be building anything, though, just creating a layer of obsidian. Once it’s done, it reaches forward and easily claws a chunk of obsidian free before handing that to George like it hasn't just done the impossible.

Holy shit, are its claws sharper and stronger than diamond tools?

It grabs George's arm, carefully tugging him over until he’s standing on the obsidian. Then it steps out of the lava, not caring that it's dripping the hot liquid everywhere, and presses down on George's shoulders until he sits.

See? Hot! Not dark! It taps the obsidian with its claws. The obsidian's sitting on top of the pool of lava, so it's warmer to sit here than to sit on the ground next to the pool. Hot, yes? Not cold?

"Yeah, it's hot. A good hot, not too hot. Thank you." George squints up at the sky, but it's hard to see through the trees. How long until sunset? "What was the gravel for?"

For you! It pokes at his pouches again, squinting through the eyehole of its mask as it studies him. Just for you. Just because. Why?

Does it even know what a Nether portal is, I wonder? George decides not to ask, because he doesn't want it to demand to know how to make one. He doesn't have time for that. Maybe another time, if I come back.

George stands up, brushing off his legs before taking a few steps away. "I need to go now. Thank you for warming me up, but it's getting dark, mobs will spawn. Goodbye."

It grows in size slightly and reaches for him, holding him tightly and carrying him back over to the lava. George fights the urge to squirm so it doesn’t accidentally drop him. Stay. Not dark!

"It's not dark here, but it'll be dark everywhere else!" George crosses his arms when it sets him down. "I could get hurt going back if I wait any longer."

Dream and Sapnap are probably worried sick.

Stay, don't go back. It pokes his arm. Stay. Stay.

"I'm sorry, I have to go." George walks away; it comes along, hovering next to him as he makes his way through the woods.

Can give you things! It reaches under its cloak, pulling out arrows and gravel and obsidian and logs and offering them all to him. Stay!

"I can't." George gently pushes its limbs away, refusing to take any of the gifts. "I'm sorry. But I'll come back later, okay? Promise."

He doesn't really feel hesitant about coming back, anymore. Maybe because it seems so upset about him leaving. Maybe because it's not trapping him, even though it clearly could. It doesn't want him to go but it's not forcing him to stay.

You will? Its limbs go back underneath its cloak and it shrinks down until it's his height; he hadn't realized it was still growing taller. Give title? Words to call you, to tell you apart from other humans?

"Huh? Um, do you mean my name? It's George." George takes a step away, and this time, it doesn't follow. "What's your name?"

It hovers there in silence for a moment, like it's thinking. Can give you a name when you come back?

Oh, okay. It wants to make sure I come back.

"That’s fair. I'll come back later, then. Bye!" He lifts up his hand in a wave; it steps forward and pokes his hand, then reaches under its cloak and starts to offer him a handful of lava before changing its mind and tossing it to the side.

What about the dark? It asks; George pulls out a torch and lights it with his flint-and-steel. The being hums, poking the torch before moving away.

When he leaves for real, it doesn't follow him, which is honestly a bit of a surprise. His journey home is rather uneventful; he drops his torch once when a spider startles him, but oddly enough, it doesn't go out. 

Sapnap and Dream are worried sick when he gets back, of course, even though they're trying to pretend like they weren’t. George can see that Dream had started to armor up, like he was planning to search for George in the middle of the night.

When they ask him where he was, he tells them that he’d gone deep into the woods. He doesn’t tell them about the being, and they seem to believe that he told the whole story, because they don’t question him any further.

He has several reasons for keeping the being a secret. Mostly it’s because he knows that they’d go searching for it, even if he asked them not to; Dream especially would, because he always gets curious about new things in the world. They’d probably end up pissing it off and getting into a fight with it, and even if they didn’t. . .well, George kinda likes having a potential friend that isn’t tangled up in all the chaos of the server. He doesn’t particularly want them trying to convince the being to join their side.

This being. . .George honestly wants to just keep it to himself, honestly. At least until he knows a bit more about it. He’ll probably introduce it to his friends later, but for now, it’ll be his secret.

I’ll go back to visit it soon. Hopefully it’ll still be interested in befriending me.

Would DreamXD purr around George or is it too magnificent for that?

omg I love this so much

I feel like it would definitely purr, although it wouldn’t be quite purring. More like a glitchy swarm of bees, a sound that’s slightly unsettling and almost scary if you don’t know XD very well. It sounds similar to its angry sounds but George can easily tell the two apart.

It’ll just drape itself over George, leaning against him and purring/humming. Or it’ll grow big and pick him up and hum while it shows him the world from a higher angle. Or maybe it’ll be tiny and he’ll hold it and it would be like a vibrating phone, constantly buzzing in his hands.

It doesn’t purr super often but whenever it gets really excited or is really happy with something George did, it definitely would. It only really purr for George, though, and George gets super smug about this around other people.

Here’s a compilation of most of my current mcyt g/t story ideas (they’re basically all Dream Team lmao.) These are just the ones I’ve actually thought out and that I’ve written more than a sentence or two of; I technically have a lot more ideas. Quite a few of these are borrower AUs with different combinations of characters lol

Giant Dream! My fave of my AUs, probably. George, Sapnap and Bad are hunters sent to kill a giant in the woods, but they were expecting someone as tall as an enderman, not someone more than 60ft tall. They fight several times, it doesn’t go well for the hunters, they try to retreat but get lost in the woods at night. Dream takes pity on them and gives them a second chance, so they’re stuck with him until they heal and can leave. They end up bonding and becoming really close friends, and they learn there’s a lot more to Dream’s backstory than they originally thought.

My first borrower AU, with borrowers George and Sapnap living in Dream’s house. They find Dream rather intimidating since he’s so tall and loud and he moves around so much. George is fascinated by technology and he often likes to watch Dream code. He decides to be reckless and investigate Dream’s computer while he’s using it; he accidentally tugs on a cord when climbing it and Dream looks under his desk to figure out why his screen flickered and he spots George. George freaks out and slips and gets himself all tangled up in the wires, hitting his head in the process. Dream untangles him and pulls him out and studies him. Sapnap runs into the room, having head George scream, and he threatens Dream and there’s a standoff and eventually they manage to get away. . .except George has a concussion from his fall so now they need the human’s help to fix it.

Skeppy gets shrunk. He video calls Bad and is like “uh we need to meet up, I’m stuck on my desk, plz help” and Bad think it’s a prank but is worried enough to head over. Cue first meeting shenanigans but with the added bonus of Skeppy being short. Lots of short jokes.

Borrower George lives in Dream’s house. He keeps helping Dream (finding lost things and leaving them out, getting things out from underneath tight spaces, etc) and Dream jokingly thinks he has a friendly ghost or something. George accidentally spills food though and Dream gets suspicious and sets up his phone as a camera. He notices George, starts leaving out food for him, George gets freaked out since he knows something’s up. He falls into the sink while trying to get some water, Dream comes out a few minutes later to get his phone and finds George stuck.

Putting the rest of these under a read-more so it doesn’t get too long <3 There are a lot left lol

Borrower George (can you tell he’s my favorite as a tiny lol) living in a house with vampire Dream and werewolf Sapnap (this is technically an AU of one of my story ideas with human George and vamp Dream and were Sapnap). Werewolf Sapnap chases him, but quickly realizes he isn’t a mouse and lets him hide under some furniture. Sapnap shifts back to human form and enlists Dream’s help and they both have to try and convince George to come out, since George has a mild injury. George is terrified because these two “humans” are clearly very dangerous and he doesn’t know what they want from him.

Giant merfolk George who keeps luring surfer Dream back into the ocean, constantly threatening to eat him (and genuinely planning too, at first). But then George gets attached to this entertaining little human with funny little stories and dumb ideas and excited movements and FASCINATION with the big scary ocean that he dares to explore even though he doesn’t have gills.

Borrowers George and Sapnap have been caught by the human Dream. He’s not a great human, he’s dangerous and he has fun scaring them. His threats are usually bluffs, and he’s never given them any serious injuries, but he’s scary enough that it’s hard to realize he’s bluffing. The only reason George and Sapnap stick around is because he’s sometimes nice by leaving out loads of food for them. (This is technically a g/t AU of a villain Dream story someone else gave me the idea for <3)

Sizeshifter Dream Team and it’s soft poly fluff and they all love each other and it’s amazing <3

Borrower George (set in the SMP this time) left his cozy little mushroom house in the woods because the community house has so many more resources and the humans aren’t too hard to avoid. That is, they aren’t too hard to avoid until Sapnap spots him and becomes determined to catch him and prove he’s real since Dream keeps teasing him about seeing things. After a few weeks Dream catches a glimpse of George as well, and soon both of the humans are trying to catch him. George has no clue what they want from him, and he doesn’t want to find out.

Sizeshifter Sapnap. He normally only grows or shrinks a few inches at a time, and his friends haven’t really seemed to notice (well, they’ll constantly ask whether or not he’s taller than George, since that changes every day, and Sapnap just shrugs and pretends it’s his shoes.) But one day something happens, maybe he’s really stressed out or something, and he shrinks a lot. He tries hiding in his room and waiting for it to be over but Patches the cat finds him and carries him over to Dream.

Or a slightly different version, set in the SMP. He accidentally grows giant when fighting with George and it freaks George out at first.

Sizeshifter Dream, but he’s actually a borrower who becomes human-sized for an hour or so every day (might switch this to have someone else instead.) He lives in George and Sapnap’s house but tries to befriend them when he’s human-sized, sneaking outside when it’s time to grow and pretending he’s their neighbor.

DreamXD is a sizeshifting entity that absolutely adores George but doesn’t understand how fragile humans are. It’s always very overprotective of George and gets jealous easily, so it often attacks his friends. It’s a long learning process.

Borrower George (last one I promise) lives in the walls of Dream and Sapnap’s house. He wishes he could become their friend, because they seem nice and he thinks they’d get along if he was a human. But they’re big, so they’re scary. He befriends Patches, though. But one day he gets really sick, and he’s not thinking clearly, so he leaves the walls and goes up to them and is like “plz I’m so lonely” and they instantly take care of him and help him get better.

Sizeshifter Dream again, but on the SMP. He can’t really control his powers very well, and it stresses him out because he tries to hide them. When he shrinks, he actually becomes his blob form, and he ends up befriending George and Sapnap in this form too. But he’s scared that one day he’ll accidentally grow giant in front of them.

What would happen if XD followed George out of the woods without him noticing?

(idk if I need any specific warning but XD is a shapeshifter that often grows extra limbs, sometimes insectoid limbs? So warning for that and possibly mild body horror I guess <3)

Ohhh that would be exciting. This is set in the SMP, but it’s an AU that kinda messes with the canon timeline and has a lot of headcanons. In this AU, George meets XD very early on, before the revolution, before the election. XD isn’t the “god of minecraft” like it is in canon, but it does protect the world and it does have powers that are basically like creative mode and admin abilities. It’s both a shape- and size-shifter but it usually stays at a normal human height because George prefers that. It speaks more telepathically instead of out loud and it sometimes switches over to the enchanting language, which George doesn’t understand.

 XD is very clingy with George and it tries to follow him out of the woods every single time he visits it, but it usually listens to him when he tells it to stay. George worries that it wouldn’t get along well with his friends, because he knows how overprotective it is and worries that it would not understand that he and his friends playfully fight each other and even make each other respawn all the time. So whenever it tries to follow him, he always stops it.

I think it’s bored? It keeps saying it’s curious. It...doesn’t seem like it means any harm? Aside from the general spookiness and asking how easy it would be to kill me.

George frowns. He doesn’t exactly want it following him back, because it’s definitely still dangerous, even if it’s not aggressive. He doesn’t want to put anyone in danger.

“Uh...I’m going to my home. You stay in your home. Okay?” George points deeper into the woods. “Stay here.”

Not my home. It looks taller again, limbs vaguely more human in appearance. Its mask now has a second eyehole, but this one’s all messed up, practically crossed-out. Like someone carved an ‘x’ over it with a knife or something. ᒷリ↸ ╎ᓭ ⍑𝙹ᒲᒷ. リ𝙹ℸ ̣  ⍑ᒷ∷ᒷ. Curious about your home?

"Um. . .sorry, you can't come to my home." George shakes his head, moving away when it moves closer. "No, no, you need to stay. Stop following me."

Want to explore, to learn. Curious about this world. Curious about you. It gently grabs onto his wrist. Show? Explain? Stay? I can give you things.

George pulls his arm free, taking another step away. "I don't- what? Explain what? And what do you mean when you say you can give me things?"

Can give you many things. Look! Its cloak rustles; a limb reaches out, holding dozens of arrows in its claws. Look! For you!

George hesitantly reaches for them. They're perfectly crafted, unlike his arrows, which are often made in a hurry. "Where did you get these?"

I got them. Out comes another limb, holding a bow. A third limb reaches out and starts a small fire on the ground, lighting up the slowly darkening clearing. Bow? Do you want another bow?

"Um. . .I don't need another one." The limb curls around the bow, crushing it and snapping it in half as it retreats back underneath its cloak. "But really, where did you get these?"

I got them, It repeats, moving closer. Show me your house? I will give you things for your house!

George nearly takes it up on its offer, then hesitates. "I- you can't. I don't think that's a good idea."

Other people will DEFINITELY be scared of it. It doesn't seem aggressive, but. . .it's too risky. Can't risk it lashing out at someone.

Maybe in the future. And hey, maybe I can bring some of my friends over to meet it? If I decide to come back? Dream and Bad probably wouldn't provoke it. Sapnap. . .hopefully wouldn't, unless it threatened one of us. Quackity's probably a bad idea for now.

XD hates it when George leaves, and it always tries to get him to stay, but it never forces him to. But yes, it absolutely would try follow him out of the woods. I imagine if George was distracted or maybe upset, he wouldn’t realize that it was following him. It can also teleport, so it could just literally teleport to him.

I imagine the first time it left the woods to visit him would be at a time when George was upset. XD shrunk down small and followed him, and George didn’t realize this until they reached his house.

George pauses, dropping the rest of his blocks into the chest before closing it and glancing around. He could've sworn he heard something, but he doesn't see anyth- hold on, is that a bat?

He slowly reaches for his blankets, planning to use them like a net to catch it and release it outside, but then it moves closer and he realizes it's XD, smaller than he's ever seen it before. It hovers in front of him, most of its limbs tucked away, looking almost sheepish as it squints at him.

"Wha- XD!" George blurts out, standing up the rest of the way. It stays in place, now at about eye-level with him. "What are you doing here?"

Gifts? It offers, pulling a diamond out from under its cloak and holding it out to George. The gem's nearly as big as it is. He's never seen it this small; it hasn't ever been smaller than a cat in front of him before. Have gifts for George.

It drops the gem into his hand; he puts it into his inventory but doesn't stop frowning. "Why did you follow me? I told you not to. I can't deal with any more chaos right now."

Not chaos, calm. It moves away, returning to its human size as it starts opening his chests and sorting through them. Want you to be happy. Giving you gifts.

It picks up his diamond sword, inspecting it; George snatches the sword away and it slides a new sword out from under its cloak, dropping it into the chest. The blade’s shimmering with enchantments.

....

Yeah, those are absolutely footsteps. George starts pushing XD towards the corner. It doesn't fight the movement but it's letting out a confused hum as it starts to grow slightly bigger.

Danger? It asks. Will protect you.

"No, no, it's not danger, it's probably one of my friends." George grabs onto its arm, tugging until its full attention is back on him. "XD, you need to go. Teleport or. . .or shrink down and leave or something."

Why? Want to meet your friends. XD does shrink a bit smaller, but it's still taller than George. Stay?

"You can meet my friends later, but surprising them isn't a good idea, okay?" George releases its arm. "I'll tell them about you and take them to visit you soon, I promise."

It blinks at him with several eyes, then glances over at the door. The second the door starts to open, it shrinks a bit smaller before suddenly disappearing, the air seeming to twist around it like a Nether portal as it fades away.

Sapnap charges into the room, excitedly shouting something about Karl did. George glances around, just to double-check that XD actually left, before following Sapnap outside to see the "fucking huge" creeper hole Karl had accidentally caused. 

He swears he sees movement out of the corner of his eyes a few times, but every time he looks, there's nothing there.

George will eventually bring his friends out to meet it, and he knows it would probably be better to do that sooner rather than later, before XD messes up.

How do you think George would teach sizeshifter Dreamxd to be more gentle/aware of his size?

(Brief warning, it’s a shapeshifter that often grows insect/spider-like limbs, so a warning for that and also mild body horror I guess?)

Oooh that’s gonna be a bit of a challenge. In my headcanon DreamXD is a very powerful nonhuman entity that doesn’t have a fully physical body. It doesn’t understand pain and injuries and even touch in the same way that George does. It tries to be careful, once it starts bonding with George, but it just has trouble understanding what touch hurts humans and what touch doesn’t.

When they met, it looked like some kind of giant, shadowy monster that wasn’t truly solid. Wings, many eyes, lots and lots of limbs kinda like a centipede. Constantly shifting and changing, each time George blinked. Taller than the giant mushroom George was sitting on top of. 

It shrunk down, still taller than him but now more human in size, and came over to him. Very obviously not human even though it is somewhat mimicking George’s appearance.

It tends to stay somewhat human in size when hanging around George, but it’s still about seven feet tall usually. Sometimes it shrinks down really tiny and almost looks like Blob Dream, and sometimes it becomes 20 feet tall, and sometimes like 60-70 feet tall or more. It’s still dangerous to George, even when it’s closer to his size.

George shakes his head again, stepping around it. "No, I can't stay. Goodbye. I have to get back before it gets-"

Lava appears, right in front of him. He shrieks and leaps back, just barely avoiding sticking his foot into it, and it disappears so quickly he almost wonders if he imagined it.

“Oh my god.” George rubs at his chestplate with a hand, feeling like it’s too tight all of a sudden as he struggles to regain his breath. “Don’t do that! That could’ve been really bad.”

He’s gonna have to be really firm with it and honest about what can and can’t hurt him. 

What? It moves closer, several insect limbs curling around his chest and lifting him up and off the ground. He shivers, clinging to them because it's something solid, and he desperately wishes his feet were back on the ground. What? What? Explain! Hello?

It also needs to learn the concept of asking before it touches him. It doesn’t understand that tends to scare George.

"Hello? It's me!" He calls, walking underneath another mushroom. "It's George! I came back!"

There's a quiet sound behind him. He whips around and it's crouched there and holy shit it's taller than the mushroom and it immediately reaches for him, picking him up and setting him on top of the mushroom.

....

Oh, yes! It grows several blocks taller, picking him up and using several spider limbs to help it climb off the mushroom before setting him down and returning to its normal form. Water? Cave? Which gift?

....

It reaches for him, holding him tightly and carrying him back over to the lava. George fights the urge to squirm so it doesn't accidentally drop him.

It likes to pick him up and move him around, and while it tries to be careful with him, it does not bother to be careful with anyone else. And even when it’s careful with George, it struggles to understand when it’s holding him too tightly. 

The skeleton doesn't even have time to pull back the string of its bow before XD grows and crushes it against the wall with a clawed limb, turning it into dust without a moment's hesitation.

It then reaches for George with the same limb, pulling him closer and inspecting him as he fights the urge to squirm. It's okay, it's okay, it's not hurting you, stay calm, stay STILL.

The limb releases him, moving away as XD shrinks back to its original size, and it pokes him a few times before leading him deeper into the mineshaft again.

It’s very protective of him, which is great. The problem is that it would attack George’s friends, too, if it thought they were being mean or dangerous.

XD loves to carry him around, and when it learns that George prefers human-like hands over insect limbs, it starts constantly carrying him around in its hand. It usually pokes him to get his attention but it usually ends up knocking him over in the process.

George has managed to keep it from following him out of the woods so far, but he knows that he’s going to have to introduce it to his friends sooner rather than later. He just worries that it will be too careless with them, since it refuses to promise not to hurt them in case they try to hurt George.
