Someone tell me why when some people are presented with facts on racism they’re like “liars” and when presented with facts on pedophilia and human trafficking they’re like “that’s unreal, how horrible” like bro. I’m so glad people believe the pedophilia stuff don’t get me wrong. But as someone who is educated in, has interned in, and is going to grad school to work in the social work field, some of that stuff seems truly unbelievably evil. And they can believe that but not that black people are getting killed, beaten, and discriminated against???????? When the evidence is right there? Make it make sense.

1. I'm literally transgender

2. I understand that there are a few minimal aspects of Rupaul's Drag Race that tumblr sees as problematic, such as the word "tranny". (But I won't get into the fact that it was originally used as a slur against men that dressed in women's clothing long, long before it was used a  slur against transgender people, so there's a question as to who has the reclamation rights)

3. Drag Race as shown multiple instances of gay men being shunned by their families but finding their own family and acceptance through the gay/drag communities. "You know, we, as gay people get to choose our families"- RuPaul. 

4. Honestly I've found that if you really enjoy something that it's very easy to ignore its "problematic" aspects only when those aspects aren't directly hurting or oppressing a group of people. In this instance, they aren't

5. I find drag queens to be empowering. The thing they say give be confidence to rock the look I give and the body I serve and exude confidence no matter what and I refuse to have that taken from me, thank you very much.
