Growing up as a mix-raced Filipina-American in a blended/non-traditional family was difficult in the 1990s, especially in staunch, strict upper-crust Silicon Valley/Cupertino/Santa Clara, California. I repeatedly struggled with my identity because I didn’t know which “piece” of my cultural heritage to claim. As if adolescence isn’t already hard enough, add the confusion of divorced parents, step parents, step siblings and extreme pressure to perform well in school. But today, I’m proud to say that despite their differences, all 4 of my parents and my entire family pushed me hard to thrive academically and career-wise and I have them to thank for my success. They definitely instilled the importance of education and excellent work ethic in me. 💕 @judeanthony @jemellee @ducati_evo848 @jdictado @captain.cold_ #FamilyOverEverything #SJSUAlumni #USFGradSchool #WomenInEducation #SupportYourLocalTrapStars #TrapQueenChronicles #SolanoCountyModels #CareerWomen #ModelBehaviour (at University of San Francisco) https://www.instagram.com/p/BsCPhL5Fh0I/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=13h1x2qcllucn
