Dear friend,
Succinylcholine is an anesthetic favored in emergency rooms for its quick action -- it is incredibly useful when one needs to perform an endotracheal intubation. It is also favored for the fact that it is short-term; the effects of the drug may wear off of the patient and allow for spontaneous breathing if necessary.
When administered to a conscious patient, it can cause psychological distress since it does not actually render them unconscious. This is, in large part, due to the fact that it effectively renders the patient incapable of communication.
Succinylcholine can cause cardiac arrest and depressed respiration in a patient, which may mimic a death by natural causes. It is nearly undetectable due to how quickly it is metabolized.
