he’s not entirely sure how they end up in the clubhouse alone, but the secret sanctuary known only to the losers club is shockingly empty upon their arrival. as glad as he is to be free of their occasionally overbearing friends, the clubhouse feels cold - too empty - upon further inspection.

luckily, stan came prepared.

guiding a silent reggie to the hammock, stan motions for her to sit as he wordlessly unzips the duffel bag he’d been carrying the entire time. quickly depositing its contents onto the hammock beside the redhead, stan lets out a satisfied exhale, content with his miniature haul. a mountain of blankets, an electric lantern, a few puzzles, some snacks, and a book ( birds of north america, to be exact ) stare back up at him from their place beside reggie, but the other doesn’t seem to have had much of a reaction.

his gaze lingers on her for a moment, concern leaving a familiar ache in his chest as he regards the unchanged expression on her face before gingerly hoisting himself onto the hammock as well, the fabric straining slightly under their combined weight.

he’s about to open his mouth to speak, but ultimately decides against it, opting instead to gently sling an arm around the girl’s shoulder, drawing her into his side and hoping the gesture alone would say what words were unable to in this moment.
