it's quiet, creepily so. she really doesn't trust quiet planets, especially not when it's a restricted area with redacted files. basically, a great big warning light screaming ' KEEP OUT ' for anyone with sense. luckily for the person stranded here, the enterprise crew does not, in fact, have sense apparently. what they do have is huge brains and a death wish.

she knows it's a death wish, because, well, she and @ensnchekov had been checking their instruments for no more than two minutes and all of a sudden their crewmates were nowhere to be found. just a day ending in a y then.

" so, essentially, we're stuck here, we have no idea where everyone is gone, and there's someone still stuck here? " a rhetorical question. " i'm convinced whoever keeps recommending me for away missions wants me dead. " an overly dramatic sigh, head shaking as she stares down at her padd.

" guess we've got to keep following the signal and hope jimothy and the rest meet us there? or do you have any other ideas in your hugenormous brain? "

what might have been just days for the warrior of light was a matter of years to him. five years, in fact. somewhere in the middle of it, he resigned himself to what he believed to be an inevitable fate. no longer had he heeded the exarch’s promises of his safe return for he thought that his stay in the first was final. forever stuck in a place that he would be forced to call home. a home that was so unlike what he was used to, but one he eventually grew accustomed to.

now he sits in the rising stones filled with a profound emptiness which aches deep down into his very core ; so the cycle repeats.  ❛ strange. ❜  eyebrows furrow and corners of his lips curve in displeasure, the word sounding convoluted to his own ears. he’s back where he belongs and all is made right, supposedly. so why does it feel so wrong ? his gaze drifts to her, in his sight remains a companion he’s sorely missed and whose absence he felt immensely as he had with the rest of the scions. last he saw her ── it has been too long for him and he struggles to wrap his head around the concept.  ❛ i’m afraid i have no other way of describing it. ❜

his   apprehension   of   the   newest   member   of   their   friendship   group   isn’t   exactly   something   caleb’s   managed   to   be   secretive   about  .   

it’s   not   that   he   wants   to   be   a   stick - in - the - mud   about   their   monstrous   companion  .   were   things   a   bit   different  ---   that   is   to   say ,   if   his   intuition   didn’t   scream   in   furious   protest   of   IT’s   mere   presence ,   he’s   sure   he’d   be   just   as   starry - eyed   as   georgie   and   ava  .   perhaps   even   more   so ;   IT’s   like   something   straight   from   the   pages   of   the   thick   science - fiction   books   he’s   so   fond   of  .

however ,   as   it   stands  ...   the   fleeting   glimpses   of   gray’s   unsavoury   drooling   and   hungry(??)   stares   and   rows   of   terrible   teeth   mere   inches   from   his   friend’s   faces   during   their   rambunctious   games   have   set   him   on   edge   for   the   foreseeable   future ,   and   he   hardly   thinks   that’s   UNREASONABLE  !   ...   just   because   they   choose   to   laugh   it   off ,   and   explain   such   discrepancies   in   IT’s   behaviour   away ,   doesn’t   mean   he   has   to  .

caleb’s   staring   at   the   corkboard   front   and   centre   upon   the   treehouse’s   wall ,   head   tilted   and   expression   intense   as   ever  .   the   senseless   cult   side   is   ignored  .   not   because   it’s   entirely   impossible ,   or   a   bad   idea  ...   but   because   there’s   not   a   shred   of   evidence   that   such   a   group   is   operating   within   derry  .   if   even   that   can’t   be   proved ,   the   theory   is   not   worth   his   time   at   the   moment  .

his   half   is   sprawling   with   pictures   of   old - timey   monsters   and   scrawled   pages   of   notes  ---   other   kids   around   town   have   seen   things ,   countless   creatures   that   strike   terror   into   their   hearts  ...   and   escaped   the   clutches   of   each   beast   by   a   hair’s   breadth  .   talking   to   strangers   has   never   come   easily   to   him  ...   mostly   he’s   only   managed   to   eavesdrop   on   snippets   of   their   stories  .   still ,   their   whispered ,   terrified   accounts   are   proof   enough ;   monsters   lurk   in   this   town ,   they   do  .   ones   that   surely   have   more   sinister   motives   than   chasing   a   mismatched   trio   of   children   around   the   neibolt   house ,   commit   far   worse   atrocities   than   casting   him   some   occasional   unnerving   look   or   devolving   into   vacant   dribbling  .

...   if   somebody   slinks   into   the   small   hideaway ,   caleb   hardly   hears   them  ---   too   caught   up   with   deciphering   his   latest   revelations  .
