Forgot what it was like to have a random dude in group conversation just be a big condescending asshole to me for no reason. I was asked a yes or no question, and I answered it with a two sentence explanation, and the dude said, “So - no.” And I repeated my explanation because I didn’t think he heard me, and he said again, “So, you mean “no.” I was just translating.”

like women speaking more than one sentence in english isn’t understandable language? Like I’m supposed to keep my answers to one word to make sure I don’t speak too much? I didn’t even know what to say to that, it’s like a game of how excluding and assholish you can be - without being called out on it.   I was just being super polite, because I wasn’t expecting anyone to be mean to me for no reason. I should have asked him exactly what he meant by ‘translating’ for me.

There were more weird aggressive stuff like that, like grilling me on what I know about kendo (I took kendo years ago, and I forgot a term, and the dude acted like that meant I was lying about taking kendo years ago? lmao the actual gatekeeping bullshit) and I’m still mildly mad about the whole thing.  Why does this shit have to happen? Why is it like this? All because my brother didn’t come with me - when I’m with my brother in those conversations, suddenly no random dudes are weirdly rude toward me. I wonder why that is. (I know why) :/
