I showed my platonic life partner this page in the journal and he drew this on the white board in my art room.
Comedy.
College Fiddauthor for my tortured soul.
Why deal with life when you can doodle Ronnie from @aeli-tan-art 's Overlords au instead?
Laziest background ever?! Yes.
Thanks aeli-tan-art for distracting me from The Horrors TM
Reference under the cut.
I love Stan. Of the brothers, he is my favorite. But I am no Ford hater.
Ford is very human, and obnoxiously relatable.
Yesterday I was complaining to my spouse about how I'm upset at myself for being upset that I haven't made any new friends at my new job. I talked in circles for about twenty minutes, because I am fine with being alone- I've never really cared about being alone- so I was upset that I was upset that I felt alone.
Then I thought about the diner scene in the Book of Bill, and realized that I am hilariously Ford-coded. He is convinced he needs no one, but still feels hurt that he doesn't have anyone, and doesn't realize how lonely he was until he finds Bill and then until Fiddleford joins him.
All this to say, I love Stan, but I am Ford. I told my spouse as much by saying, and I quote, "Holy shit. I'm Ford. I just haven't made a deal with the devil yet!"
My spouse then proceeded to laugh for five minutes straight because they were very concerned about me saying "yet".
Thanks for coming to my TED Talk
Sneak peek of where this AU is going.
*edit* this turned into part 1, part 2 here.

Stan hit the ground hard. He knew it should have hurt, but he couldn't feel anything more than the screaming pain in his leg. At least Rico had been kind enough, if he could call it that, to drop him off back at his motel.
He painstakingly reached a hand out towards the door and dragged himself closer. The door was still wide open from when Rico and his goons had knocked it down, which was good. He was sure he wouldn't be able to stand in this condition.
Sometimes I wonder how everything would have turned out if Stan's childhood dreams required him to get good grades.
Like if he still had dreams to do something with Ford, but the dream was something only achievable with a degree.
For example, instead of finding the boat, they both want to be marine biologists or astronauts or something along those lines.
He isn't stupid, in fact, I think he is just as smart as Ford, just with different motivations. Thinking up scams and lying all the time to get yourself out of sticky situations requires a lot of intelligence.
Maybe I'm projecting because I'm thinking about going back to school as a person who is turning 31 in two days, but it's interesting to think about. I dropped out of school because I didn't know what I wanted to do aside from work at plant nurseries. So I dropped out and did just that. Life happened- as it is wont to do- and I made some serious mistakes, and now I work in a warehouse that I hate to keep myself off the street, but I'm not stupid. I was just highly unmotivated by higher education.
To put this more in perspective: my older brother is a doctor, my younger brother is an airplane mechanic, and my older sister is an aeronautical engineer. I dropped everything I knew to live in the Pacific Northwest so I could be around green plants year round. 😅
I feel like I am a lot more like Ford, but ended up more like Stan. Which is why I often wonder how different it would be for Stan if he had a different goal school-wise.
Anyways, I love both brothers. They are both equal parts of me, and it reminds me to be softer to myself.
Character details for the Intridimensional Au! Starting with Stan.
Fidds and Ford coming soon.
I know I have another chapter to write, I just haven't had the time or motivation this week. So you get this instead!
