‘lila’s’ sketchbook
so something interesting i’ve noticed about the sketchbook plot (where lila makes the class ruin marinette’s sketchbook) is that it really relies on lila already having the class in her pocket, and turning them mean and malicious. which, given the nature of characters like rose, juleka, nino and nathaniel, would be pretty difficult, and lila’s clearly like one of the laziest people in the show.
so why not go the easy route? the class already likes lila, and they know marinette doesn’t like lila, so why wouldn’t lila take it a step further? it’d be simple.
pick out a nice enough sketchbook, make up some story about designing for clara nightingale’s next music video, trace or even glue some printed out sketches in there, let the class see a glimpse now and then. build up some excitement about showing off the final sketches.
she plants the torn sketchbook in marinette’s locker on the day lila is ‘going to show the class her awesome designs’. she obviously can’t find her sketchbook, says she ‘last saw it in the locker room’ so the kids do a search. marinette gets roped into the search of course, opens her locker, and voila. marinette’s reputation is in the same state as the sketchbook.
