Dev Log #1
Hello! I have thought about posting some weekly writing reports to show the game's development, and help me keep track of what I have done and still have to do. Although maybe it'd be better to do it fortnightly, knowing how slowly I write, I'd like to try this schedule first. It might push me to work more on the project, who knows 🫠
Right now, Chapter 1 has 36 pages in the document I write when away from home… And this document doesn't even have everything. ☠️
I don't know how much it is when compared to other IFs but it is much more than anything I have ever tried my hand on before, and still, there is so much to add before even thinking about updating 😩 I wish real life didn't take so much from my time and energy, because working on this project is really fun.
This fragment is part of the first draft. Text still subject to changes.
As I said in the poll, I was already working on one of the skills. Sorry for everybody who voted in Knowledge - you will have to wait a bit longer 😔
When following a skill path, the player can choose an activity to specialize in, which might come in handy during later events in the game (depending on the choices made beforehand).
And, of course, as the masochist I am, the charisma path alone has 9 options of activities to choose from - and each of those options has variables tracking whether MC drank the potion before heading out, how they feel about their mission, whom they decided to romance… If the next update takes too long to happen, you know what is probably holding me back 😭
This fragment is part of the second draft but the text is still subject to more changes.
The idea, however, is that each path will not only raise your skill bars and decide where MC's talents lie but will also help set their personality and unlock different parts of the lore to the player.
We reach the first week with Chapter 1 Part 2 having 4,4 K words in total - and 1,2 k of them is only code. Analyzing how far I have worked into the options, I'd roughly say the Charisma Path completion status is closing on 30%. But then again, I've never been great with numbers, so make of that what you will. 😞
Thank you for reading!
