This past year was a hard year — but it was a year of character building, and it was career enhancing, and it was scary as hell. But it was something he needed. George O'Malley is back from his service as a trauma surgeon in the field, with a third year residency spot awaiting his arrival back home at Seattle Grace Mercy West Hospital. He spoke briefly on the phone with Dr. Webber —- however their phone call was cut short due to poor signal. All George knew was that he had a job, and that he told Webber not to tell the others — he wanted his return to be a surprise. Though, Webber never got the chance to explain the recent trauma that hit the hospital. Gary Clark with a broken heart, a gun, and pockets full of ammo. People were hurt. People were killed. People were traumatized.
George, too, now suffers with post traumatic stress disorder. He has nightmares a lot, trouble sleeping. Of course, he’ll have to be cleared by the hospital’s psychiatrist before they let him back into an O.R. again. But he has no clue the damage that’s been done to his friends in his absence.
He’s been back in Seattle for all of 12 hours, setting himself up in a motel for the evening. However, he couldn’t resist the urge to surprise his people down at the hospital. So once his bags were put away, he heads over as soon as he can. He is nervous to see everyone again, wondering if things have changed much since he was last here. Entering in through the ER, the first person he sees is Lexie. It takes him a second though, because her hair is different. It’s blonde — however, her dark roots have seemed to grow in a fair amount. And now that he’s thinking about it — she looks a little…. fidgety?
❝ Lexie? ❞ George says softly from behind his friend, ❝ you dyed your hair. ❞
