StrangeSpot, Round Thirty Two: Kine Society

Lacy is pleased with the progress Lily is making under her care. She's good with her little cousins and the other children, and she's embracing Lacy as her aunt. That makes it easier for her to make the choice she has to make to cure her lycanthropy.

You see, Lacy doesn't like the supernatural, stemming from a resentment that they all survived the virus that swept through the town, when her husband and many others didn't. The solution: cowplant milk, with anti-supernatural properties. The problem: the cowplant can't produce milk without feeding on a human. The solution: feed her a human.

So, when Lily's dog Tiffany passed away, effectively severing her link to her former life as part of the happy Vandermorgan family (she hasn't spoken to her oldest brother Taron in a while, he loves being a werewolf and wouldn't understand), she followed Lacy's instructions and invited her second oldest brother Marco over after he flunked out of uni. He took the cake, she drank the milk, and it worked. It worked! She's no longer a werewolf. Heck of a sacrifice, though...

Meanwhile, in happier news, Skipper is now a teen and has grown into her facial features a bit more. On the other hand, she'll be privy to the purpose of the cowplant very soon. Yikes!

StrangeSpot, Round Thirty: Kine Society

When tragedy took its toll on StrangeSpot, loving Lacy took two of the town's displaced children into her arms. The Kine Dairy Farm is a safe haven for all her children, but Lacy sees the potential for it to become something more…

StrangeSpot, Round Twenty Eight: Grunt

Good news: Skipper is a child and has a new baby sister, Phyllis!

Bad news: At some point in the round I must have accidentally deleted the household's letterbox. The family weren't doing too financially well anyway (Lacy was struggling to get a teaching job from the newspaper that wasn't showing up, oops), so Ace accepted his Miles' offer to move in with him. They're also moving in with Miles' cousin Leon, his kid, and two cats. Boom - instant chaotic household, with no missing letterbox shenanigans. Phew!

Ace and Lacy don’t have much in their new home yet but they do have each other. Baby girl Skipper* is born, and that marks the end of round twenty five!

*Inspired by Barbie’s younger sister; I always thought she had an interesting name!

StrangeSpot, Round Twenty Seven: Grunt

Honestly, this family is a nice breather from the chaos the other StrangeSpot households tend to produce. The only possible crumb of drama - Ace carrying the burden of the Grunt name - is swept away when he proves to be an unconditionally loving father with absolutely zero interest in joining the military. Being one your dad's doted-on do-over kids who wasn't forced to get up at 5am to do chinups has its perks!

Skipper: Thanks for not passing on any intergenerational trauma, dada 🎀

StrangeSpot, Round Twenty Six: Grunt

With no income, Ace and Lacy resort to digging up the backyard for treasures to sell. Lacy accidentally digs into a water pipe, and while she sees the funny side (free sprinkler on a hot Strangetown day!), Ace is going a little crazy there.

Skipper ages up to a toddler and in true family aspiration style, Ace and Lacy both want to have another baby. That will have to wait til Lacy finds a job - after flopping out of uni she wants to enter the education career and help kids apply themselves and enjoy learning. In the meantime, Uncle Miles comes to visit and meet Skipper. He dotes on her and wonders how Axel is doing.
