A rich rainforest where life recycles upon fallen trees and the shrubs are evergreen. **Egmont, British Columbia ** Skookumchuck (/ˈskuːkəmtʃʌk/) was a word we weren't familiar with at all but found exciting to pronounce. The word is a Chinook Jargon term that is commonly used in British Columbian English and occurs in the Pacific Northwest. Skookum means "strong" or "powerful", and "chuck" means water, so skookumchuck means "rapids" or "whitewater" (literally, "strong water").
