❛ you know, watching you work is
kind of terrifying. you’re way too
good at what you do. remind me
to never piss you off, or you
might end up convincing geoff to
kill me or something. ❜
RYAN CROSSED HIS
arms as he walked alongside Mary,
looking at her warily. Her ability to
make people tell her anything without
using force was both impressive and
scary. Ryan could never do that. He
got too impatient, too annoyed. No,
knives and well-placed punches were
much better suited to him. He kicked
a rock and watched it skid down the
sidewalk, bouncing off the edge of a
building and coming to a rest when it
landed.
“You think so?” Mary turns to him as she walks, laughing a bit at his comment about Geoff. “Yeah, maybe.” She thought for a moment.
“It’s really not that hard. You really just have to be good at profiling. Like... when to be intimidating, when to be overly flirty, etcetera. It’s all about acting. Maybe I could teach you some time.”
She brought a hand up to her chin, thinking. “I mean, you’ve got the intimidation factor down. And you’re attractive, so it probably wouldn’t be too hard to woo information out of people.”
Mary shrugged. “Maybe we could do a little skill tradeoff.”
